Just like 3/5ths of the people that roam Facebook?
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Also a dog hater.
Well, duh, cat lovers are often uncomfortable with dogs Dogs are so needy and jumpy...
I'm still questioning how the show is supposed to be a prequel to the original series, considering the gang has the memories of the past reality, including taking down the classic monsters. Unless they were doing their own take on the road trip.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).The show is aiming for "eventually the franchise will come back, probably with different aspects of it highlighted or minimized than from we did, and that will happen again, and again, and again." No one involved with Mystery Inc. could know what the next Scooby series would be like, so Where Are You? acts as a stand-in, because it illustrates the point about this being a cycle well and because it's fundamentally different from Mystery Inc. on a number of levels.
If you read it literally or in-universe it pretty much completely collapses, but I don't find that super-important.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. The more I look at the episodes of this, the more I think of the triangle of sorts between Shaggy, Scooby, and Velma. And I think, 'why are all three of them being so stupid about this?'
Velma's being an idiot because she cannot appreciate the bond between a boy and his dog.
Scooby's being an idiot because he cannot realize that there are certain things Velma can do for Shaggy that he clearly cannot.
And Shaggy's being an idiot because he simply cannot sack up and make time for both of them. They all hang out on a daily basis so it can't be that hard to hammer something out.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefI love this show. A great mystery series that stayed true to the spirit of Scooby-Doo by avoiding Continuity Lockout and giving each episode its own unique mystery. There were times when the story actually made me go "holy shit!". Probably the best incarnation of Scooby-Doo there's ever been, though that's not a particularly high bar.
I liked the references to Twin Peaks, too. Made me think that perhaps both shows actually take place in the same universe—it would explain a lot. Maybe throw Gravity Falls in there too.
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541Matthew Lillard did show up in the new Twin Peaks season.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).So, remember how we were speculating about the Velma/Marcie stuff after the last Mitch Watson interview? Well, in this podcast (around the 19:30 mark), he pretty much confirms that was intended. It's pretty much Word of Gay and reliant on subtext, but I'm glad this was finally acknowledged.
(Oh, and also some news about a new Kung Fu Panda series, but whatevs. )
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Yeah, the subtext in that last episode was pretty heavy, what with them sharing a room and all.
Great series, I enjoyed it a lot. This clearly is how you do Scooby Doo right.
Optimism is a duty.Vic Cook posted a special short (Part 1, Part 2) they played before movies to remind the audience to be silent before the feature.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).... Those pizzas had GLOWING EYES. I wouldn't eat those, Scooby.
That was a really funny short.
Optimism is a duty.Tony Cervone has further specified Velma's orientation in this series, and I guess unlike Mitch's previous confirmations, now people at large are finding out.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Just this specific version of Velma, or across all Scooby Doo media?
And yeah, no surprises there, I suppose, but good to see that they are finally backing it up officially.
Optimism is a duty.I feel like it'd be impossible to make that claim for all future scooby media when he probably won't write for them. And you can't retcon Velma to be a lesbian in all those other shows, because there's stuff that counteracts it, like her falling in love with Seth Green in the movie.
It's just for Mystery Incorperated.
It'd be nice if something like that came up in another version, even if it'd be hard to match someone like Marcie.
Wake me up at your own risk.Definitely that version. Though James Gunn did intend to make her lesbian in the original plans for the 2002 movie before it was watered down.
She can always turn up in other versions, like the Hex Girls.

Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I'd be surprised. Scooby's a series with a surprising lack of recurring characters. There's the Hex Girls and I guess Vincent Van Ghoul, but that's about it.
I feel like if Velma gets a girlfriend, it'll happen in one of the movies as a subplot or something. The shows post MI have been very lax on any romantic content at all.
Think they thought it was a bit much in Mistery Inc?
Wake me up at your own risk.If she's into chicks, I would write as more bisexual.
It’s not the most drastic change to Velma. That’d be the Race Lift in Scoob.
It's been 3000 years…As a Hispanic person, can I say that I hate the "Hispanic character says random words in Spanish, even though they're clearly fluent in English?" I bring that up because Velma does it in Scoob. It made me like the movie even less.
As for Velma being a lesbian in Mystery Inc, I can accept that, since her relationship to Hot Dog Water had clear romantic undertones. But she also seemed genuinely into Shaggy in the first season. I have a feeling the idea of her being gay came about between seasons and wasn't there from the get-go, as that dude claims.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Wasn't the whole point that she was bad for Shaggy, what with the whole trying to change his speech and attitude thing. They never really played Velma and Shaggy off as anything more than cheap drama.
Didn't everyone know Lovecraft is a racist cat lover already?
