Shamelessly Ripped from my Pal's Facebook

Man, I tell ya, some people will do anything to try and criminalize the gaming industry...

Though, the last line of this article is one of the best things I've ever read! xD

"Doctors managed to re-attach Megan's lip following the attack and the dog was later destroyed." ...it's like the dog was a mech or something. xD ...

Doctors managed to re-attach Megan's lip following the attack and the dog was later destroyed.

Oh fuck. Really?! I won't blame the girl for letting herself get beat up by a dog. But really?! Kill, no, DESTROY a dog because it attacked one person? Humans Are Bastards indeed. This part always bugs me. Seriously, don't ****ing get attacked by the dog.

btw, I took a beam saber and slaughtered 13 assasins and then I crushed a few mushrooms and baby turtles to death....someone should put it on the news and warn people of the dangers of No More Heroes and Super Mario Brothers.

@Signed: I think that's standard procedure for "dangerous" dogs, for reasons I forget.

WTF.

This is believable. Perhaps it's a little too realistic and the dog heard something it didn't like. I don't know, a puppy in distress or something. Maybe it should contain a warning, all because one vicious dog snapped.

@Signed: Yes, the dog should be put down. It would probably attack again. Common sense.

^^ That's why I said Humans Are Bastards and not British People Are Bastards.

Still feels like a massive dick move to put the dog down. Many of the time in where I live, shit like this happen because some stupid kid was picking on the dog first.

The idea being that if a dog attacks a person once, there is a greater liability and risk that he will attack another person.

Well he's talking about WWII when the Chinese bomb pearl harbor and they commuted suicide by running their planes into the ship.

Unfortunately the death of newspapers won't mitigate this problem. We as a society are much more susceptible to tl dr; and newspapers are delivering. Short and spiffy headlines make for much better reading then a detailed analysis focused on investigating the underlying reasons of whatever happened.

Plus, journalists rarely take much time being, you know, journalists any more. Get something from a news agency, change that a bit and give it a cool headline. Dogs bite kids every day, everywhere. And no really gives a shit about either kid or dog if you sell the story that way. But mis-blame it on something, make a social issue out of the story and suddenly people will go nuts over it.

  • Look for video game vaguely connected to said bad thing, no matter how far fetched the parallels
  • Rummage through the culprit's/victim's other hobbies; books, music, roleplaying games, movies or even TV. You are bound to find something that makes a good scapegoat even if the causality is questionable at best.
  • If kid involved (as culprit and/or victim) it was obviously bad parenting
  • Blame drugs (but not alcohol)
  • Blame the opponent of the political party you are connected to, even if your party made a law that could be responsible for this
  • Blame the decay of moral values. Especially if culprit and/or victim are homosexual, youths and/or female. If you are in the US or middle east, emphasize this with scripture quotes.

The only person to blame here is the owner of the dog. All dog owners have a responsibility to keep control of their animals. IMO, legally speaking, an attack by a dog should be considered the same as if the owner had done it themself.

Still the issue of some twat purposefully teasing the dog knowing full well it'll get pissed off though.

(not in this case though, just some girl playing some DS game...and a very very stupid journalist)

Dogs bite kids, sure. They generally don't MAIM them. Putting down a violent dog is normal. This is more a deterrent for owners.

I feel more sorry for the dog than the girl though. Feels a tad dickish to put it down just because of that though.

it is understood that she told police that Megan may have kicked Saracen and that is why he attacked her

If I needed a Most Triumphant Example of how Kids Are Cruel, a literal Kick the Dog, and Adults Are Useless this would probably be it. I mean REALLY what the hell were they thinking? "Hmmmmmm, a kid kicks the dog and the dog attacks her. Obviously the video game she was is to blame!" What An Idiot.

She may have kicked it...guess I missed that part...

Well, if she really did Kick the Dog, then I can honestly say, I don't feel sorry for her at all. And she deserved what she got, and now she got the dog killed too.

And for some reason, Nintendogs is getting blamed too...

When they say they "destroyed" the dog I keep getting the image of them tossing a grenade at it or something.

F*** that kind of thinking. And F*** anyone who thinks like that.

I honestly thought they were talking about the dog in, like, the game.

What the hell kind of a person says that they destroyed a living being? I wasn't aware that aspiring evil overlords worked for British tabloids, but I guess it explains a lot.
