@Gilphon: Uryu asked Soken if Ryuken meant what he said, Soken gave him a "from a certain point of view" response. He then told Uryu that Ryuken had something to protect which dictated his sense of justice. When Uryu asked if that something was money, Soken told him he'd learn one day.

It's hard to see that as anything other than Soken basically saying that Ryuken wasn't being honest with Uryu, that he had a good reason not to be, and that Uryu was clearly too young to understand this.

Ichibe'e was sad and believed Ichigo couldn't win. There's some unknown reason for him sending Ichigo because Yhwach cursed Ichibe'e when he saw Ichigo arrive.

I doubt the RG will be happy about it, but they've got a part of the Soul King inside them. Parts of the Soul King have had consequences for everyone so far. Mimihagi may have protected the Soul King, but it left Ukitake in a mess and Yhwach seemed to think it was really weird for any part of the Soul King to protect the Soul King.

I don't think the RG will be happy about it, so it would be "forced" in a sense.

I don't agree but it would feel weird to not mention that, for some reason.

To be fair, considering what Shinji's Shikai does, it wouldn't surprise me if his Bankai just puts his opponent through a really bad acid trip/make them really high. Like "horse tranquilizer in one arm, speed in the other, after smoking 7 pound rocks of cocaine over the last hour" kind of high.

The thing Ryuuken wants to protect is his family. Money is the means to that end, because Ryuuken is a guy who understands how modern society works. Discouraging Uryuu from following the dangerous Quincy traditions is also a means to that end.

You're not even backing up your arguments at this point.

We agree that Ryuken wants to protect his family. If Ryuken has genuinely given up his bow, it's because not fighting is keeping Uryu alive (and because dissecting his wife sickened him), not because he quit to make money. A guy who's genuinely quit to embrace the modern world won't have a training room and armoury at his place of work.

He's probably also a guardian of Karakura Town who will be activated when Yhwach invades Karakura Town (if he doesn't have to waltz into the RR to save Uryu first, that is). The biggest reason I can see for Ryuken not fighting these past nine (or more) years is to hide his abilities from someone with a power like The Almighty.

I think Ukitake's still alive, too.

• Who is stronger between Starrk and Segunda Etapa Ulquiorra? (just to finally put that old debate to bed)
• What's the name of Iba's sword? (since even I think we're long past the point that would be relevant in the series proper)

1) Were any of the Espada Vasto Lordes, or if not, where are they and why haven't they ever intervened in anything?

Apparently most of the Espada were Vasto Lorde. Though really, I could only definitely see 1-4 being them, with maybe Nnoitra and Grimmjow, assuming Grimmjow evolved beyond the point that we saw him in his flashback.

Yammy makes no sense either way.

Aaroierio was said to be the only Gillian and the only one apart of the original Espada.

Yeah, Grimmjow and Hallibel i only recall being beastmen in their flashbacks.

Hallibel was pretty humanoid. I think it's safe to say she was a VL. I don't think we ever saw Grimmjow as anything but a cat.

In the anime at least, Harribel was definitely a Vasto Lorde and there was a little sidestory with Ulquiorra that basically confirms he was too.

But Grimmjow was just an Adjucha (or however you spell it) when saw him. But it was implied he just kept eating to get stronger so who knows.

I know some people think Szayel was a Vasto.

Well, if you go buy that novel wasn't he originally Espada 0 or something?

He was the strongest of the pre-Plot Device Marble Espada, apparently, though that doesn't jive with Aaronierro, in the series, saying he was the last of those left.

Gerard's head is destroyed,his body shatters,and only his legs are left.Hitsugaya-kun leans on Byakuya-senpai's shoulder from exhaustion.Gerard starts regenerating into a new form.

Bach's sleeping,when he's suddenly stabbed by a random orange haired smuck wielding two swords.Then he wakes up,commenting on his nightmare.Then said smuck and Inoue finally reach him,and Bach calls him his son in/of darkness.

Meanwhile Hashish is fighting Uryuu,and is troubled because his vision of a dead Uryuu isn't coming true.Then his powers switch with Bach's,and he claims that his B is more suited for dealing with him.

So I guess Uryuu and the random smuck mess with the Almighty?
