^^Controlling the power applies only to unreleased swords. Ichigo's unreleased was huge but weak because he didn't focus it properly. Isshin's unreleased was focused, small and strong. Ichi's Shikai is a giant meat cleaver, but it isn't weak like a big unreleased sword.

Do we ever have a case where a Zanpakuto's Shikai form is indistinguishable from its sealed form? I think Kyouka Suigetsu and Ryuujinjakka don't change form upon releasing (aside from the latter becoming engulfed in flames, that is).

Tenken and Suzumushi don't change as well.

kennys looks pretty normal too, aside from looking abused.

It has a unique guard as well.

People have unique guards and handles in unreleased forms as well.

Mmm. Well Suzumushi keeps it's unreleased form in addition to the Bankai dome of darkness. Senbonzakura's bankai has a form in which it's a whole damn load of it's unreleased forms.

Daiguren Hyourinmaru itself (i.e. excluding the ice wings and claws on Toshiro's body) is basically the same as its shikai, IIRC.

I think it doesn't change shape from unreleased either. *checks* o wait, no, it gets some accessories added. Annd the guard changes for Bankai.

Tenken and Suzumushi. Shinso/Hyorinmaru kinda count.

Tenken is actually a Stand. I mean, it follows basic rules of Stands. Mimics the user's movements, the damage dealt to it is dealt to the user as well, and is invisible to people without spiritual powers (Post 2nd arc JJBA can be matched up realistically against Bleach since Stand users see ghosts too, though there was only one instance when said ability was a plot point).

And it handwaves why Komamura has human intelligence. Every non-human Stand user in JJBA gains human intelligence after gaining powers, even if it is a colony of glones.

To clarify, the non-human stand users include:

• A dog (and a main character, at that)
• A (dog-hating) hawk
• An orangutan
• a pile of ameba (I think)

Though, movement mimicry isn't necessary or common to all stands.

The slight problem with that is the fact that Komamura himself is also invisible to people without spiritual powers.

There was a ghost Stand user, so still possible.

In translation I read said ameba colony was mentioned by me colony of glones. Close enough, so I don't which is actually canon.

But quite common at the beginning. It was later in the story when Hirohiko experimented with more varied powers.
