No, it's a frog, look at the ears eyes.
I thought the Dracolord's overworld sprite from Dragon Warrior I + II was a Goomba.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I had a very skewed view of what Pokemon looked like until Yellow came out, thanks to Red and Blue.
I always thought the Scarfy from Kirby was a pig's face.
I thought it was a Panda.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."The infantry sprites in Command And Conquer: Tiberian Sun have a weird walking animation reminiscent of Unreal Tournament.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI thought koopas where turtles with bird heads. Turns out they're just turtles.
Bleye knows Sabers.I know... I didn't think Ditto had a face for a while.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaEarly advertisements actually did show that koopas had bird heads. Their current appearance is probably a retcon.
It's a plot! ...Quite a well written one too.I think many people misinterpret Lopunny's sprite...
At least judging from posts and earlier fan art.

I always thought it looked like Mario was bleeding from his eyes when you die in Super Mario World. And, by extension, Luigi had green blood.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"Link's death silhouette looks a bit... suggestive.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.In Sonic The Hedgehog 3, when Knuckles is trying to keep his balance as the Death Egg begins to take off, I thought his tail was his penis.
For a long time, I thought that Quote's sprite was completely sideways. Then I realized that it had a 3/4-ish view.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I used to think that Fearow's wings◊ were actually just awesome, rockin' 80's hair.

I don't know if it's my mistake or the spriters', but Milotic in RSE◊ looks really derp to me. Comparing those eyes to these◊, I think they agree.
I don't think that's really thinking a sprite looks like something it doesn't, though.
Like Poliwag, and thinking its belly is a mouth and its mouth is its nose.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI used to think Rayquaza was not a coiled snake-dragon, but instead a dragon whose arms conjoined at the ends like a hoop. Also, though I know a lot of people have made this mistake, I used to think Bugsy from Pokemon Gold and Silver was a girl. His remake's sprite is much less androgynous.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Wallace and Tate. They were both girls and nothing you could say would convince me otherwise.
New User Handle^^ Really? To me, Bugsy's sprite looks trappier than ever. =d
Also, in R/B/Y, Bruno's sprite made it look as if he was sitting inside of a plastic bag.

Here's a good ol' fashioned topic. In the days of yore—NES, Game Boy, the like—what are some sprites you misinterpreted? I.E., they're supposed to look like one thing, but instead looked like something else to you?
In Kirby's Dreamland, there is a monster in Green Greens that is supposed to be a bear wearing a headband. Here's a sprite sheet; it's on the upper right side. However, from the first time I played it to today, I always see it as a cow wearing a Geordi La Forge eye-thing.
How about you?
