Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

     Previous Post
Complete Monster Cleanup Thread

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Oh right yeah almost forgot. I asked 43110 to trimm down N-Daguva from Kamen Rider Kuuga. So here's his new write-up and with credit to him.

  • Kamen Rider Kuuga : The Gurongi lord, N-Daguva-Zeba is a sadistic Blood Knight and Social Darwinist who cares nothing for the lives of humans or his own kind. Upon being reawakened, Daguva releases his 200 Gurongi, slaughtering the archaeologists who found them. Restarting a brutal game in which the Gurongi hunt humans, Daguva kills over one hundred of his own kind. When the titular Kamen Rider defeats one of his henchmen, Daguva ambushes him, mercilessly beating him and incinerating countless innocents before leaving. Continuing his systematic genocide, Daguva attempts to bring about "Ultimate Darkness", turning humans into twisted, vile creatures like himself and even after being fatally wounded by The Hero, dies laughing, hoping he will become as evil as himself.

Also with a help from 43110 Heres Pike and Lesko's write-up's.

  • The Flash's Arch Enemy, Nicholas Pike is a former police officer who was disbarred for his crooked involvement in criminal activities, swearing vengeance against Jay Allen for bringing his corruption to light. Forming biker gang, "The Dark Riders", Pike had his cronies terrorize Central City, torching streets and killing anyone in their way. When one member leaves out of disgust, Pike cruelly kill's him and later murders Jay for revenge. Storming the jail to free his men Barry Allen has arrested, Pike intends to use them to destroy the entire city and level it. In Flashfoward, after being released from arrest, Pike returns for vengeance on Barry, firing a heat-seeking missile at him which somehow sends Barry ten years into the future. An utter dystopia with Pike as Mayor, in it he forces citizens to submit to him lest he have them executed or lobotomized.
  • Bougart/Beauregarde Lesko, from Child's Play ceates an insidious hallucinogen called "Blue Paradise", which becomes rampant in Central City. Creating a powerful physical addition, if users do not regularly take Blue Paradise, they die, much to Lesko's apathy. When suspected in the drug's production by a reporter, Lesko kills him by blowing up his car to destroy the evidence, also trying to murder a teenager who manages to get ahold of it. Trying to force the teen into addiction to control him, Lesko also tries to spread his drug over the city via helicopter, not content until he can control the entire population with his drug.

Thoughts ?

Looks good.

I found on MCU: HYDRA – Leadership for MCU!Red Skull

  • Alas, Poor Villain: Evil magic Nazi he may have been, it's hard not to feel a slight tinge of sympathy for him when it turns out the Tesseract didn't actually kill him, but stranded him on an empty, barren planet, with the Infinity Stone he so desperately desired right within his grasp and yet eternally beyond his reach, undying, and presumably all alone. For seventy years.

[up][up][up]Delete it. The movie doesn't try to make us feel sorry for him,so it's not an example. I know that trooper who added it (Smallordvoice) their the one who kept putting BAOM under Ego's character page.

I remember talking with Lighty about that. One COULD feel sorry for Skull...if he hadn't been a mass-murdering, attempting-to-kill millions, PSYCHO.

Mir, please add those to the Drafts, And please don't touch the Call of Duty stuff; I'm reordering and de-potholing the entries.

EDIT: Anyone know Super Buu enough to offer a condensed-yet-complete writeup?

[up]I'd send to 43110 as per usual, he's familiar with the work. Though thanks to Dragon Ball 's popularity, their are quite a few people who could rewrite him but he's best when you wanna trimm a bad guy down.

Yeah, some people really gave the Draco in Leather Pants to this Psycho!

I you ask me this was an absolutely perfect punishment for The Red Skull and satisfying to watch Karma making him her bitch literally; With the soul stone so close to his reach, but knows he can never obtain it because he's such a horrible bastard with no loved ones other than himself.

[up]Ha that's nothing on DINLP treatment. I had to delete this line from and I kid you not Griffith's actual Draco in Leather Pants entry that was utter garabge.

It's probably because he used to be a good person (Or the closest thing to good you can get on a world like that) before his Despair Event Horizon (caused by being broken in body and mind after a year of horrific torture and the subsequent loss of everything he fought so hard to achieve), which makes him a Tragic Villain.
.

Woah

[down]Yeah but this is utter crap and saying hes a Tragic Villain is outright ignoring what a selfish man, he is.

Here goes my writeups.

  • Kill Squad: Joseph "Joe" Lawrence is a Vietnam veteran and Larry's best friend. Losing his feet during the war, Joe blamed the squad for the incident and sought revenge, becoming a wealthy businessman and training for years to have a chance against his former friends. Wanting the ownership over everything and hating his wife for rejecting him, Joe hired Dutch to gang-rape and kill her, ordering him to shoot him afterwards. Feigning being wheelchair-bound to divert attention from himself, Joe created a so-called "Killer Game" by making the titular "Kill Squad" eliminate Dutch and his men, while he assassinated them and potential leads to the case. After killing four members of the squad, Joe attempted to kill another one by slashing him with a sword and trying to impale him with it.
  • Fallout: Morbid initially presents himself as an arrogant and unpleaseant man, but is revealed to be greed personified. As Junktown's resident physician, Morbid offers medical assistance for enormous prices, and is the only doctor in the wastelands to force his patients to pay him for the examination. Those who refuse to pay him are murdered by his two mercenaries and their bodies are taken to his underground lab, where are they are butchered into small pieces and sold to Iguana Bob, the human meat is then cooked to look like iguana bits and given to the population. If Morbid discovers that the Vault Dweller has visited his lab, he will let the player live only if he is allowed to remove an eye, declaring that "half of what you have just seen" is now his.
  • Fallout: New Vegas rewrite: Vulpes Inculta is the leader of the Frumentarii and the Legion's chief strategist. Becoming a Legionary as a child, Inculta got the position of Frumentarius by disobeying orders and capturing the leader of an enemy tribe. Arriving at Dry Wells, Inculta took over the area and crucified those who resisted along the Interstate 40. Inculta is properly introduced after having slaughtered the citizens of Nipton, crucifying some of them and coldly telling the Courier to "memorize every detail". When Camp Searchlight proved to be nuisance for the Legion, Inculta ordered Legionaries to commit a suicide attack by opening the base's radioactive containers, which did only kill several NCR troops that were stationed there, but also resulted in the ghoulification of the survivors. Disguised, Inculta visited the Strip and planned to chlorine bomb New Vegas with the assistance of the Omerta.

Re: Griffith.

Let's be honest. Everyone has a ridiculously shitty life in Berserk. So much that honestly, I don't think that anything work as a Freudian Excuse there. The only reason why other villains don't qualify is because they have redeeming traits or fail the heinous standard.

[up][up][up]Looks good. Wow Vulpes is way more evil than what hiscurrent write-up said he was. Also Fallout New Vegas has 6 CM's from one game. Kinda impressed.

Also here one last write-up For colonol Zol of OG Kamen Rider.

  • Former Nazi, Colonel Bakarashin Iinodevitch Zol, joined Shocker and quickly gets a reputation for brutality. Transferred to Japan to deal with Kamen Rider 2, Zol brainwashes children into become Shocker troops and gases an entire town. Apathetic to the fates of his own soldiers, Zol dismisses their deaths and even tests the powers of a resurrected mummy-like kaijin by letting him murder one of his Mooks. Using another infectious kaijin, Zol has him kill a group of innocents, forcibly converting the survivor into a disease-carrier to spread more suffering. In the sequel series, Zol works with Doctor G to unleash toxic gas in Hokkaido and killing the innocent civilians.

Credit to 43110 and I'll add to drafts.

For Embryo's entry, I have a question to ask.

  • The aforementioned Embryo, the "Creator" of the world, was a scientist who grew tired of warfare and kidnapped the mighty DRAGON Aura to power the creation of a new world. Embryo creates a system where those without magic are oppressed and used as Cannon Fodder to kill DRAGONs trying to recover Aura, while discarding and recreating humans when they fail to impress him. Embryo seduces many of the pilots to his side, using Salia sexually while lying about how he loves her. When Ange herself refuses his advances, Embryo tortures her by forcing her mind to undergo overwhelming pain and then physical need. When Ange tries to escape, Embryo shows his true colors by taking over the mind of her faithful maid Momoka and even tries to fatally shoot Momoka when she resists. Upon the final battle, Embryo simply decides to obliterate all of humanity again, coldly rebuking one of his subordinates for caring about others, and tries to sacrifice his loyal followers to buy himself time. When he is through trying to seduce Ange, Embryo tries to beat and rape her before trying to kill her for not "accepting his love". He even allows children to die. Any positive actions or qualities are all just an act.

Are those last two lines really necessary? The first one, about letting children die, is kind of a given considering he tries to obliterate all of humanity, and the second, about his positive traits being an act, I think are already established by the rest of the entry. They just don't seem to add anything.

Why so serious?

So I was meaning to ask is there any reason Embryo is at the bottom of the tree. Isn't he the shows main villain and hence shpuld go to the top.

Oh yeah remove thoose rather pointless lines.

I think I might've added those lines (not sure; it was awhile ago), but I just fixed the YMMV page and filed the cut for the CM page. I think NSWIE covers that.

As for the order, I dunno.
