Scott Pilgrim vs. the World:

Wallace really did steal every scene in the movie. Kieran Culkin (or however you spell it)'s career really needs to explode at this point.

Okay, I just saw it with my cousin, and it was AWESOME!!! Now, neither of us have read the comic, so we didn't really know what was changed, but whatever! The movie was really funny, very action-packed, and did a very good job in trying to cram 6 graphic novels into less than 2 hours. Edgar Wright has done it again.

I haven't read the comic, but loved the movie. One thing I thought when watching it is how perfect Edgar Wright was to direct it. Spaced is like your typical sitcom on drugs (which makes sense, since the characters actually use drugs), and the movie was quite similar in this respect.

Spaced however is more film based references which is why I think I like it more. Although it is of course not entirely without it's game-references.

Because it's got such a specific audience, I'd imagine.

^I think that's it. I showed the trailer to my mom and she thought it looked kinda weird. Plus she hates Michael Cera with a burning passion.

I feel bad for saying this, but I haven't seen the movie yet myself. I may just wait 'til it comes out on DVD.

In all seriousness, the visual effect alone are worth seeing in the theater for.

I'll see because I've really been wanting to go to it for awhile. I'm a little low on the funds right now. Plus, I'd actually have to find someone who wants to see it.

Sounds like a sleeper hit...which is strange considering how pervasive the marketing was.

Oh well. It definitely has staying power (in that I've seen it three times and I still like it quite a bit), and it's probably the best movie I've seen this summer (granted, I haven't seen Inception...). I'm definitely getting the Blu-ray when it comes out and I'm sure I won't be the only one. Maybe they'll do something like they did with Watchmen and include the game with it!

The blind man walking off the cliff is not making a leap of faith.
Box Office Mojo says that the movie has made $21 million after 11 days, with the opening weekend being about $10 million... which means that it appears to have a consistant audience.

The movie might not make its production costs back in the theatre, but I'm pretty sure it'll see a tidy long-term profit.

Somewhat on topic: Has anyone played the video game? I'm considering picking it up, but it looks like another beat-em up with spiffy background music. :V
It's out on XBLA now, so I'm going to get it as soon as I can get some Microsoft Points (which hopefully means later today).

5th Time...i'm getting fatigued now.

also, where can I get Patel's song?
I'm a Lumberjack and I'm Okay.
Just saw it tonight! I was skeptical at first as it seemed just a little too weird for my tastes, but so many of my friends loved it, so I went to see for myself. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would!

Also, I don't know what kind of trope this would count as, but I couldn't help but LOL hard when they introduced Crash N' the Boys as a band from Brampton (a city just west of Toronto). Michael Cera is from Brampton :3 Also, it was a funny coincidence(?) that the Evil Ex Scott had to defeat during their Battle of the Bands against Crash N' the Boys was Patel. Brampton is known for having a large South Asian population. The Silver City movie theater in Brampton even has at least one Bollywood movie playing all the time.

I'm pretty sure I was the only person in the theater who caught it xD

I also LOL'd when Scott bemoaned not having the $2.75 needed to ride the TTC bus. The writers either intended to set the movie in the recent past, or they never bothered to update their script xD

Here is Patel's song "Slick". I think it's the Narm factor that makes it freaking awesome.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. OTOH, the fare change was in January, by which point the movie would probably have been close to finished. (And, of course, it was $2.25 in the comics.)
I guess it is.
Remarkably Unremarkable
I've seen the movie in theaters 5 times, and I plan on seeing it 5 more times tomorrow or Saturday. I honestly do like the movie more than the comic. Does anyone have a favorite line? "Your BF's about to get F'd in the B!" stands out to me.
