Yeah, in general Magus society, the Einzberns are backwoods has-beens who haven't accomplished anything of note since the apprentices to last Third Magician left, the Matous/Makiris have been slowly dying off and the current generation is the final gasp (seriously - Kariya's brother doesn't have any Magecraft potential, and Kariya fucked off, so Zouken bringing Sakura in is literally the only way the family could possibly extend itself), and the Tohsakas....aren't doing badly, actually. They suffer from the general racism against Asians that permeates the Clocktower, but aside from that they don't really have anything aginst them - Rin's basically a prodigy, they're more or less in the Wizard Marshall's good graces, they don't have anything obviously dragging them down....
The families are only "big" within the context of the Grail War. In the larger picture you've got the Archibalds, the Barthomeloi, the Eldelfelts, arguably the Fraga (they're a very strong bloodline, just very isolationist)....
Depending on the timeline you choose, you can add the Harweys, possibly the Ainsworths, and Yggdmillennia as well.
The Grail Wars are in the grand scheme of things a fairly small story in a very large world.

I have a very special name for the Einzberns.
Watch a little more about Fate, and you'll learn it soon enough.
For now, enjoy Zero. It's a hell of a ride....only afterwards you're just kinda sad instead of exhilarated.
One Strip! One Strip!Of course, as Apocrypha showed, if others figured out even a part of the ritual, they'd jump at it like hungry wolves.
Wake me up at your own risk.Episode 4 in a nutshell:
Arturia: "Nice to fight you, Diarmuid!"
Diarmuid:" Nice to fight you too!"
Iskandar: "SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKERS!"
Everyone: "..."
And thus begins the reign of Broskander, the greatest Servant in the war.
The best part was Waver's "WTF?!" expression the whole time.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonIksander is easily the best and/or worst thing about Zero to most people.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I bet that Waver really regrets his decision by now.
Berserker is still a total mystery, though it seem it has taken a relatively short time for Kariya to go a little crazy.
No Caster. Bad Caster. No Caster stop

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonIIRC, Servant-less Masters in the Fuyuki Grail Wars have the option of taking refuge in the Church, where they'd be under the protection of the incumbent priest, who traditionally serves as the neutral mediator/arbitrator for the Fuyuki Grail War and is thus untouchable by any of the Masters.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. That's correct. I said as much when explaining ways a Master could leave the war.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I kind of like watching what happens to Kariya.
Which was the day before Blueace asked his question about masters skipping town. I guess I forgot about your post and he somehow missed it.
You are a terrible person, and you should feel bad for being so.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Fate/Extella releases in January for Europe.

Because for all of the bad judgement calls he made throughout the war, Kariya meant well and was trying to save Sakura from her constant defilement by worms at Zouken's hands. To actually like the fact that he suffers so greatly over the course of the story is just mind-boggling; I can't imagine anyone that isn't either a sociopath or possessed of bizarre views on morality would do so.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. You're pretty narrow minded. Why can't I find the way he lets his own flaws destroy him interesting?
Oh, you meant "like" as in "I find it interesting". You shouldn't use such misleading phrasing like that. It's bad etiquette.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. That seems to be a running theme here
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonIt's you who misunderstood him and jumped to conclusions, you'd do well to reflect on yourself rather than try and push the blame on Arha.
Speaking of Kariya, I also like watching his downfall. It's so satisfying.
I feel like you're trying to be ironic here.
As for Kariya...well we shouldn't say too much due to Link still watching, but his story is an interesting ride......
Very interesting. There's on scene in particular that will absolutely define Kariya's story in the Grail War.
You'll know it when you see it Link....and probably be in pain watching it.

One Strip! One Strip!Let's just say that there's exactly one and only one major character in the whole cast who gets anything resembling a truly happy ending and leave it at that.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Uh oh.
I don't like the sound of that.
Because Kariya is the only participant in the War who entered for 100% selfless reasons (or at least it seems) so he's totally going to go to the Dark Side
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonLink, let me ask you one thing: Do you remember what the first Fate Zero light novel started off with? It's the quote at the beginning of the Fate Zero article.
"Let us tell the story of a certain man. The story of a man who believed in his ideals more than anyone else, and by them was driven to despair."
Yes, that's right. That's how the story starts. It tells you bluntly that this story is all about misery.
And in hindsight, I shudder to think of what could've happened if Hideaki Anno had hired Gen Urobuchi to work on his team for either the original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime or the Rebuild movies.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
I don't know. This is post Madoka Urobuchi, so we might not see things go as bad. It's weird to say that, I don't think you could make Shinji suffer quite as badly as Anno did. Hell, Urobuchi might mess him up, but still give him a chance to make things better, which Anno absolutely failed to do.
One Strip! One Strip!
As if Magi care how impractical the method to reach the Root is.
There's a reason Caster Paracelsus joined up with Obviously Evil Manaka in Fate/Prototype despite his actually very human morals compared to most Magi.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.
