. . . Okay, if this doesn't get an export, I'm gonna be super pissed. That's almost enough to be considered a whole new game.

The best damn water.
I'm gonna need to find a good emulator by the time this gets translated. (Since I have essentially no money to buy a PSP and game)

Theoneknownasme: I agree. They probably will translate it, given that P3 was a big seller over here. Anyone know how the sales of P 1 PSP are? I mean, I bought it, and Game Stop has a rack shelf devoted to it, so...

The dialogue interface seems more like a Visual Novel style than the usual running-around RPG style. For story/talking scenes, there's a static background, over which the dialogue boxes and character portraits are shown. For the exploration parts, it's basically a map with the other character sprites there, and you move a cursor around.

Almost everything in the menu that was blue in the male route is now pink. It's actually quite surprising how pink everything is... except for the store interface, which is still blue.

They took some stuff from Persona 4, like the Social Link Level Up.

There's some reshuffling of the early story events. Comparing the LP and a walkthrough of Persona 3 FES, apparently the social links start one day later in P 3 P.

I actually quite like this L Per's run through the game so far. He's not obnoxious, doesn't have an annoying voice, and he has a few snarky comebacks, particularly to Ikutsuki and Junpei.

If you have a Nico account, the playlist is here.

I wonder if they've taken out the Armageddon/Victory Cry combination.

I seem to be one of the only people to feel this way, but thank god for that. Being forced to run literally everywhere without the oh-so-wonderful Square button was so tedious.

I wonder if they've taken out the Armageddon/Victory Cry combination.

I hope not. That broken combination of awesomeness was the only thing that kept me going to Tartarus in the endgame.

I actually liked the sprites in the PS 2 version entirely because of the way they turned their heads to face you. I thought it looked really cute. (I admit that I'm weird.)

All the little chibi sprites with their sweatdrops and exclamation marks... so cute.

The static sprites here are kind of disappointing.

Whew, I just beat the game the night before last. Very very long...thank goodness the triangle button skips text so quickly. I've started a new game plus, playing as the girl this time, but I burnt myself out in the whole-game-in-one-day marathon...

The guy's side didn't add anything, really, it's more or less the exact same thing, just with the new interface, and the improvments from Persona 4.

...Is it shorter or something now? It took me 67 hours to beat the original P3. Am I just really slow? 0_0

I figure between being able to directly go to places in the menu instead of having to walk and already knowing the finer strategic aspects of the battles, it should go faster even if it has the same content.

No, Lizard Bite, you are not slow. I finished at 91 hours and know some people who finished it at 105 and 112 hours.

Dammit, PSP! Stop getting awesome games! I can't afford you!

Here's hoping someone figures out, if not a half-decent emulator, and then at least a way to play PSP games without the PSP. Who here remembers the Super Game Boy? We need something like that!

PSP? Expensive? Here in NZ it's cheaper than the D Si as it's trying to compete with it for sales. :U

I can't remember how much mine was... $279NZ? So about $140-170US?

maybe i'm just rich or something
I suppose something witty goes here. Will this do?
avatar: Muneshige

It's not shorter, it's practically the exact same game. I just blazed through it so quickly because I had played it aaall day and night (yay, no life), and since I can't read Japanese, I just skipped through all the text. Holding down the triangle button makes it go very very fast.

But yes, the menu navigation and square button DO make getting from place to place much quicker.

So I just watched the opening again, and I was definitely right in saying the music was gonna grow on me. It's very catchy.

Also, I swear to god, it gave me chills just watching it. I'm still trying to pinpoint exactly why.

Also also, because I have no life, I went through the intro and pulled out every bit of text I could catch. That is posted below, with links to the Other Wiki to explain a few things, and quotes attributed wherever possible. I've also made notes in hottips after a lot of the phrases.

Statements and words separated by slashes indicate that they either appear simultaneously or one right after the other. ??? means I have no idea what the hell the word was supposed to be.

Also note: Possibly unintentional spoilers in my musings. Proceed with caution.

Man, your entire party as S-links on the girl's side? That was what I loved the most about Persona 4- that the combination of story events and S-links meant that you really felt like a tight member of a group. Dammit, I'm too poor for a PSP!

I like Wiping All Out more than Mass Destruction. IMO, battler themes in persona go:

Wiping All Out > Mass Destruction > Reach out the Truth

Wiping All Out is indeed full of win. The intro kinda throws of the song a bit, but I like how it makes it seem similar to the Male's Mass Destruction.

Mass Destruction: P3 battle theme

Wiping All Out: P 3 P Female Route battle theme

Reach Out To The Truth: P4 battle theme

I really like Danger Zone (P 3 P Female Route Tartarus boss theme) because it calls back on Soul Phase (P 3 P Opening theme). Then again, I like P4's I'll Face Myself even better, so...

Wiping All Out seems to have stuff from Soul Phase. Or maybe it would be more accurate to say that Soul Phase uses the chorus of Wiping All Out in the opening.
