Hi, everyone. Since our fora seem to have a bigger concentration of furry fans than most locations in the internet, I thought we might as well get them together and share ideas and opinions.

That is to say, this thread is not meant to lure them all to the same space so it can be destroyed with strategically placed bombs to reduce their numbers.

Seriously though, no NSFW links without warning and no trolling, please.
All who post on this thread are legally obligated to help the club in all its warfare efforts.
If we need a topic of discussion to start the thread off with, here's one that's been in my mind recently. What makes you, specifically, identify yourself as a part of the furry fandom? What does that label mean to you?

I do not identify as a furry despite having many interests that coincide with my personal definition of the word. I have the interest in anthro animals. I have for a while. Why I even have a fursona esque thing (it's a male spider monkey).

Spidermonkey? Isn't that what Edward calls Bella in Twilight?

Well, at least Twilight has had one positive effect on humanity. The idiotic masses of the internet will tell you: "You may a furry, but at least you're not a Twilight fan."

I like Twilight because it can be so bad it's good at times. I do not genuinely like it however...

Speaking of monkeys...I really love Sten.

Breath Of Fire in general is something I love...The animal people were something I adored. The Windians may be winged people and not avian anthros, but...WINGS.

Some plainsrunners for you all.

I do wonder why the females look nothing like the males though...

I'd prefer if this was less about linking artwork and more about serious discussion.

Now as for the question I started the thread off with: I don't feel any real, universal companionship with other furries. It feels nice to talk to them, but I only feel a bond when I know them personally. I'm not a huge fan of animal-based stories. I'm not an artist.

I adore animal based stories, but don't desire to write them. I doodle furries in my spare time.

I'm an aspiring author, and really, right now I'm inclined against anthropomorphic animals in my stories because I don't know what I'd do with them. From a narrational standpoint, I see no role they'd fulfill that other species can't.

That's part of why I don't write with them. I kind of want them to have some sort of point...

Oh hi, I'm the the furry who doesn't do anything.

Got introduced to the fandom by way of the Teen Grid. I identify with the fandom partially out of nostalgia, and partially because I do like the artstyle.

oh hai

Pretty much the first people I befriended online were furries and I kinda got dragged into that and identified myself with it and wanted to write my "magnum opus" with furry characters including a fursona of mine but then somewhere down the road I realized that... I'm not enough of a furry to really identify myself as one.

I do love them as, well, "interesting-looking" humans, and I want to start drawing Cute Monster Girls more again because I enjoy playing with humanoid body designs.

So. We need to create a mix-up-word-thing between "furry" and "troper".

Furoper? Trorry?

Sure thing! Just one question, first.

Why?!

Because it's funny.

Why not?

Also, the word funny reminds me. We need to create a trope called "crowning moment of furry".

I think "furper" would inevitably lead into "herp furp derp"

Edit: I...I didn't mean to kill the thread. I'm Seamus. I'm kind of a furry, in that I like anthropomorphic animals. Working on being able to draw them.

Oh, hey.

Personally, I've always like the art. I think it's been ingrained after so many years of watching cartoons, since many of the animals talk or act like humans. The first time I really noticed I liked anthros was Robin Hood, The Disney cartoon version. At that point, I just liked the story. Didn't know about the fandom.

Then I hit Treasure Planet, With it's many variations of humanoids, including Amelia and Delbert. I liked it for the story, but in hindsight I can see how it affected me...

Anyway, I was finally introduced to the fandom through a few friends of mine on a collaborative art sight known as Iscribble. I joined because of how friendly they were. It was only afterward that I realized they were so friendly to counteract the senseless hate they get. It would be incorrect to say I've never been the same since, because I have. I'd just had a little more knowledge.

So, yeah. I identify myself as a furry mainly because I like the concept and art. I tried to come up with a Fursona, but got nowhere after 20-something attempts. I currently don't automatically identify with other furries, as I'm not really a part of most of the fandom. More of a Furry sympathizer, I guess..

I like the characters when they appear in fiction, I have friends who identify as furry both locally and online, and I draw anthropomorphic animals now and again. I also run a small modern-magical wind-in-the-willows type text RP online. Nothing special.

All in all, I'm not a furry, but I sometimes play one online.
