Some time ago, a developer named Shane Brandon created an IndieGoGo campaign for a game named "Trigger", built around matters of mental illness. That campaign failed to reach its target, and the project went into hiatus.
However, the same developer more recently released a different game named Chronoclysm, which, from what I see, is a time-travel arena-based combat game with both a single-player challenge and a local-multiplayer mode.
I haven't played the game, so I'm not in a position to either recommend or warn, but the art-style is cute pixel-art, the concept seems interesting, and I'd like to spread some awareness for the developer, so I bring it to your attention here.
It's available under a "pay what you want" system, I believe.
Here's the trailer for the game:

My Games & WritingI don't care what people say about Prototype 2, it's still fun as hell. Dat black hole attack, man.
I have an importing-related question, hopefully someone can be of assistance.
Recently got a PAL (Europe) PS 3 game. My NA console reads it just fine, but it can't play because I don't have a HDMI cable hooked up for the video feed (I don't even have a TV new enough to actually have an HDMI port on it). Okay, fine, get a new TV and a cable.
Buuut... what if I just got an HDMI-to-whatever converter cable, would that be sufficient? The game sending out HDMI output, before it gets converted to whatever old-fashioned thing for the TV input? Would that be a viable solution?

What do you already have the console hooked up to the TV with?
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerI'm replaying Pikmin 3. I'm at the last part, where the giant blob chases after Olimar and you have to protect him, while simultaneously clearing a path forwards to the final boss fight.
Somehow this went beyond me the first time, but now I'm doing the obvious thing, and having Brittany lead the blob around in endless circles while the rest of my team clears the path and adds the shortcuts.
Great game. Not the biggest fan of the final level, but even that's not that bad.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!Ah, was wondering if the compatibility was purely disc based or not. Good to know!
... Not like I had money for a PS 4 anyway!
But Persona 5 and Bloodborne and Kingdom Hearts 3 and a half dozen of other things makes me wish I did...
Moved handles because mehI have no desire for a PS 4 now. I see nothing at all compelling me to buy one, or an Xbone.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!I regretted buying a PS 4 until Bloodeborne came out (a year after I bought it).
...I still regret buying it that early. I just don't regret having one now.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerI had an X360 for a while before stuff came out that I actually cared about. I was convinced to buy one by my younger brother, who thought I should have a next-gen console. I didn't really get into the games much at all, until Deadly Premonition, which is one of my favorite games of all time.
I bought a PS 3 solely to play one specific game: Siren: Blood Curse, which amazed me when I watched it on You Tube. I'm much happier with that purchase. It ended up having better exclusive games I cared about.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones! Those are standard AV cables. You can't directly convert HDMI out to that format, although you might be able to run it through another device that has HDMI input and AV output. The picture will probably be crap, though, as you can't just take a 720p or 1080p signal and expect a standard definition TV to make it viewable.
You're getting to the point where you're exerting ridiculous effort to keep your old TV going.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It's been going with zero effort up to this point, though.
But yeah, we haven't gotten a new TV since The '90s (or maybe it was the really early 2000s). And even that one was used.

You're at the point where you're trying to get CD-ROM music to play on your 8-track.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"An HDMI cable should only cost about 10€/$ anyway.
But if you need a new TV, well... I think smaller HD ones are less than 300 nowdays.
Moved handles because meh...I don't think we even have an 8-track player.
Yeah, 3~4 hundred IIRC was the old man's search range. Might be able to get a new one at some point this summer...

Things to note are also how sharp the image can be, which affect price.
I think the lowest high def standard is 720p. Which obviosuly would be the cheapest. But who knows, sales, used and refusrbished things can have their prices all over the place.
Moved handles because mehYou can get small ones for really cheap, but a 34-36" LCD at 720p should come in under 300 USD or whatever the equivalent in other currencies is. Heck, you probably paid more for the PS4.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"We're at the point where a 4K TV costs too much for me to consider buying one, but HDTVs are stunningly cheap, considering that these are TVs we're talking about. Entire game consoles cost more than a new TV.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!Astonoshing, isn't it?
Then again, did an NES ever cost more than a TV? In retail price, of course.
Moved handles because mehSame here.
Though since I've never actually bought a console new in like forever, and haven't actually bought a Wii U, I don't know how meaningful my data point is.
I don't see why someone should get rid of their perfectly-good TV just because their new game console doesn't work with it.
If anything, the new game console should be backwards-compatible, ideally. With the three-prong thing that's been the standard for so many years now, since the 90s. And it's served us perfectly well.

i still want a ps4, though mostly for bloodborne. if possible i'd rather just buy a better computer since most things are multiplatform.
I can't view the picture at work. So many sites are blocked.
Damn electricity going out last night. It was out for over 2 hours. I played Earthbound on my phone (the only games worth playing when you don't have physical controls are games that don't need them), only for it to eventually run out of power (I'd used up a lot of power at work doing things like reading Cracked).
Which screwed me up more than I'd expect. It turned out that the emulator had an update that forced an app store into it (why?? it's an emulator!!), and the next time it started up, it demanded I update before it let me use it. Before, I could bypass that by just starting the emulator and having it immediately resume my game. But when my phone lost power, all apps reset.
So I eventually bit the bullet and updated, because I literally had no choice. The result? My savestate was considered corrupt and I lost all my progress up to Threed after earning Jeff.
I thought "Screw this" and decided to just go to my emulator on my PC, be glad that I had the foresight to save many savestates during my previous run through the game, load the one that's just before where I left off on my phone, and continue from there. I might add that it's a far more enjoyable experience with a physical controller, on a big screen.
