That doesn't make it any less true.

(I'll try this again civilly this time.)

These changes aren't pointless. It's to make the wiki a better place. Subjective tropes attract natter which we don't want.

Fair enough. That doesn't mean that some of their changes aren't bad ideas though. Like Crowning Moment Of Awesome, which got downgraded to a crappy name even though every other Crowning Moment still has their names. Yes, we know it's subjective. That's no excuse to go and give it a horrible name. It's like with Bonus Level of Hell, they ruined that too, and gave it a stupid name like Planet Heck. First off that isn't even a Bonus level, it's the second area of Earthworm Jim. Hardly a bonus level. They're ruining our tropes with unnecessary and often outright bad name changes.

Crowning was taken off because it was supposed to mean the most awesome/funny/heartwarming moment. Not just regular moments which those pages decayed to. Bonus level of hell was renamed because it was supposed to mean a hard bonus level but most of the examples on that page were about levels taking place in a hell-like area. Renames are done for a reason you know.

They were under the Subjective Tropes index, which I suppose they fit but not under this new criteria apparently.

Yeah, there's a few things on there that shouldn't be on that index anymore with this new policy.

If something is on the Subjectives list that doesn't belong there, it should be removed. Everything on that index gets the banner.

Question!

Are subjective tropes verboten inside the entire works page, or just the list of tropes that a work displays? I'm wondering whether or not the description for my just-launched page on the Black Eyed Peas is going to have to be edited, or not.

The "changed it now it sucks pothole" should be removed. Editorial, and not the right use of the title, anyway.

Do the character pages fall under these new standards?

EDIT: Just a though: The reason for all this mess was to get rid of the natter which plagues the subjective tropes, but what's stopping natter from appearing in not-subjective tropes besides the efforts of the more thoughtful tropers and dedicated curators, many of whom eventually burn-out and give up on trying to make the pages look acceptable?

Things that call for an opinion attract discussion. The worst natter you get for a factual trope is pedantry. People with opinions outnumber pedants. Pedants also are easier to clean up after. Just chop out the hair-splitting by broadening the context.

Can Evangelion still keep it's Your Milage May Vary trope? Cause even though it's subjective, it is one of the definitive things about the series.

Just move it it to the subjectives page. Just out of curiosity ... YMMV is the least trope-like thing on the site. It is just a phrase used to weasel up a statement of opinion. What makes you think it is an important thing for Evangelon?

You can start anytime. The icon is still being found, but A Subjectives/ShowTitle page will cause a tab to appear on the work's page.

Crown Description:

Vote up names you like, vote down names you don't. Whether or not the title will actually be changed is determined with a different kind of crowner (the Single Proposition crowner). This one just collects and ranks alternative titles.
