The YMMV banner is assigned by the YMMV index, and that one has this to say: "Now a disambiguation page, mostly refers to Fanon Discontinuity"

Well, maybe it should be removed from that then. Neither Canon Discontinuity nor Negative Continuity are YMMV. I don't think the misuse should grant a banner unto a page that shouldn't have one.

But FanonDiscontinuity is YMMV and until all the wicks to the Disambig are cleaned, it will have to stay on YMMV.

It does only have 170 wicks, which is low enough that one person could change them all. So I suppose one could go and disambiguate them. *shrug*

Rhymes with "Protracted."

[up] Wow, the most I've done is eighty. *feels bad about own laziness* I guess I'll start from the bottom of the list now.

[down] I think the sum of the wicks cleaned of my two biggest wick cleanings I've done is something like 64+86, so I guess that's not too bad. I wouldn't do it in one night at my rate, but still.

[up] Basically it's the same as doing eighty, except you do it twice.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

The Discontinuity wicks have already been cleaned. It's possible it's accumulated a few new misuses in the interim, but the Special Efforts project finished several months ago.

So those 145*

wicks are all correct? I know some of them are intentional, but still.

So should the banner be kept on the disambiguation page?

Yes, but you might take a look at this Tech Wishlist thread in the meantime.

Critical Dissonance should have a trivia banner, not a subjective one. The page image makes that clear.

It is an Audience Reaction. The YMMV banner is the banner to audience reactions.

The banners are assigned automatically by the YMMV, YMMV Redirects, Audience Reactions and Trivia indexes. For something to be trivia, it must first win the Trivia crowner. Critical Dissonance was on the first one but never gained much support due to the fact that it is about quality judgments.

It was on both IIRC, it just hit that sweet spot between the crowner reset.

By the way, this thread seems to have become a "Should this be on the Trivia/Audience Reactions/YMMV indexes?" thread. Should it be repurposed to be about the indexes?

Seeing as those are the main banners, and banners are applied automagically with the indexes, I'm not sure how we'd be doing things differently.

The page Main.YMMV has two banners, one above the other, both with the same text. The top one is unique to that page, as far as I can tell, while the bottom one is standard. This seems redundant, so can one of them be removed?

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

I think that banner has something to do with the red-bullet-ing function of that index. In this case, it should be moved over along the flagging function to YMMV.Home Page.

I think Mainstream Obscurity needs a YMMV banner. It's an audience reaction.

It's been a long ass time, do we have a crowner or something?

Not at the moment, but if you want to create an equivalent to the Trivia crowner for YMMV, be my guest.

I think that UsefulNotes.Pettanko and Toy Ship needs a banner like the one on Laconic.Your Mileage May Vary.

Sorry for triple posting: Should this be crownered for the YMMV things?

[up][up][up]Toy Ship is a Shipping Trope. Most of them are YMMW, not "no links please". It has the YMMV banner already, why make it no-links?

Crown Description:

YMMV is for items that are reactions of the audience to works and tropes that need a significant judgment call to tell whether they exist objectively or not.

Should these items become members of YMMV?

Note: Audience Reactions need to be subjective, emotional responses and things that are likely to cause arguments and disagreements. Merely being outside a work or inside an audience don't make things YMMV
