All Purpose Nanoha Fanfiction Thread!:

Who you are does not matter.
Well in addition to updating some of my other stuff (took me fucking long enough), I also posted the intro chapter to Life After Hayate as I've decided to call this.
"Remember that you are fighting the machine and the pilot both, but you only have to beat one of them."

Pretty good. I have just one question about the future chapters, though.

Will there be... shenanigans?!

Eventually. We kind have to work through the whole downer opening bit though. Although the first time the Wolkenritter refer to Chrono as "master" is liable to induce a meltdown.

Understandable, I know we have to get through the angst before we can reach the comedy. I just wanted to know it would eventually be there at all.

Dramatic Heroic BSOD, or hilarious Freak Out?

It's probably going to veer comedic more than dramatic, if for no other reason than the Chrono wouldn't be caught by any technical subordinate having a Heroic BSOD.

Gotcha. And now that I've had it in my head for a few days, I find myself shipping Chrono/Signum. And lol-ing at it.
What do you mean, too old? If you freeze Hayate, you have anytime between A's and Strikers. You could even do it shortly after A's.

Although, if you want a 17 year old Chrono, you realize Nanoha and Fate would be 11 or 12. That's still a bit young for romantic entanglements. At least, it's still in squick territory for me.

...who said anything about them? I meant Shamal and Signum. (What kind of sick, twisted world do you live in where Nanoha/Fate are Wolkenritter or otherwise controlled by the book!?)

Though Fate and Nanoha being 12ish is actually also a consideration, because if nothing else it adds to the hilarity of Fate having Bardiche across Auris G(r)aiz' throat during the next chapter.

I love you too much to let you suffer.
Sudden strange random idea: the Nanoha cast in Hogan's Heroes, with Nanoha as Hogan, Hayate as Klink, Vita as Schultz, Signum as Berkhalter, Chrono as Crittendon, and Fate as Marya the Russian.

Yeah, I know. I've been binging the series, okay?

Ah, misunderstood. Thought you were talking about Nanoha and Fate.

And I don't think a 17 year old Chrono would be tempted much. Both guys and girls in the Nanohaverse show a disturbing lack of sexual desires.

"Colonel Yagami, report, " Admiral Chrono Harlaown began.

"Summary of Report DR-755 of the TSAB Mobile Assault and Rescue Unit 6." Yagami Hayate began. "We had responded to a dimensional anomaly near Unadministered World #97; apparently, the amount of energy released in that dimensional anomaly was enough to structurally disrupt a G2-class star. Oddly enough, the reaction was contained within the anomaly itself."

She took a sip from the glass of water before continuing. "We used Ancient Belkan dimensional transit protocols to locate the anomaly, and we found that the energy reaction had long since ceased. What we did find, was something else entirely."

"Continue, " Chrono said. "Your data here isn't comprehensive."

"Well, sir, based on our last set of missions involving Ark Cradle-type spacecraft, I made my report as vague as possible, Admiral, " Hayate replied, "That way I could report our findings directly to you."

"Prudent, " Chrono said with an acknowledging nod. "What did you find?"

"Sir, it wasn't just the Ark-Cradle class of spacecraft. We also discovered hibernating AI devices with a power system we haven't seen before. The ship also runs on a similar system."

"Were there human survivors?"

"Yes, sir. Stasis pods. They're currently being tended to by Shamal and the others. But... three of the survivors don't... I mean, sir, they're more like the Knights than us, if you catch my drift. There's another one, someone with similar configuration to the Nakajima sisters."

"Interesting, " Chrono said. "I'd like to debrief them when they are brought out of hibernation. What else did you find?"

"Aside from the humanoid machines?" Hayate asked. "I found several sentient mechanical animals in bad condition. The technicians are trying to work on repairing them right now."

"Animals?"

"Yes, sir. They look like two fish, two moles, a bird... and a lion."

"Nakajima Subaru?"

"Yes, that's me."

"The TSAB R&D division has personally requested your presence to fieldtest a prototype."

"What kind of prototype is it, sir?"

"Some kind of fighter aircraft. According to the files, its designation is PhantomGao."

Yes, this is exactly what you think. Has Chiwa Saitou ever been asked to scream "BROKEN PHANTOM!" and/or "HIKARI NI NARE!!!" at cons?

Actually got a second chapter out, fast. It's weird to be getting stuff done again.

Please note: when Chrono is panicking over the possibility that the Wolkenritter know how to be seductive just as well as they know how to fight...

His fear is not entirely rational, they're about as likely to deploy that particular knowledge on him as the instant heat death of the universe. But he's essentially correct. They do know how to do that.

And it's very likely by the time I end the story he's going to see proof, up close and personal.

[up]Hells yes. I read and reviewed your fic again, and it's great. Keep up the good work, buddy.

Also, I tried to imagine Chrono being seduced by Signum and Shamal. I passed out from laughing so hard ten seconds in.

[up][up]Not bad, although the bit at the end confuzzled me a little.

Who you are does not matter.
Master. The way she said it didn't immediately register on Chrono; his mind was still elsewhere, and he wondered where the shiver the word had sent through him came from. Then he caught up with why he'd just started pumping a lot of teenage hormones. He didn't have the proper words to describe what she'd said, there was affection, need demanding satisfaction, a hint of submissiveness...

Thinking it over made him shiver again. How could she layer that much meaning into one word? Then Chrono nearly tripped over himself trying to get away from Signum, three separate times in as many paces backwards. "Don't do that again."

"Is that an order as the master, " thankfully Signum didn't try to stack the word again or Chrono...well he wasn't sure what would have happened, but he would have regretted most of the possible outcomes, "of the Book, or a request from you the person?"

One has to wonder why the Wolkenritter would actually know how to seduce people...

It'd make sense if they were supposed to be the master's slaves, but as far as I know, they're meant for protection and protection only...

[up]They've been around for several centuries minimum, and there's more than one way to protect someone. Stab-you-in-the-face works most of the time, yes, but it can be a bit of a social faux pas.

Honestly, speculating about what the Wolkenritter got up to under their various masters is a train of thought that leads nowhere good. Especially when you start wondering about the... other applications of Shamal's extensive medical knowledge and ability to (painfully) reach inside someone else's body, or about anything involving Vita.

Social faux pas? When you've got the freaking Tome of the Night Sky, who the hell is going to bring politics into the issue?

I didn't say that the Wolkenritter couldn't do subtle if needed. I'm just saying that I don't see why the Tome Of The Night Sky wouldn't have a program specifically for that same task. Then again, they do seem designed to cater to as many fetishes as they can...

[up] Countries with nuclear bombs still have diplomats, remember? And whilst the Tome is extensively damaged, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that it once housed more sentient programs than Reinforce and the Wolkenritter.

Besides, we already know that they aren't just soldiers - Shamal, for instance, is a medic who's decidedly short on combat ability. You'd expect that if they were designed for purely front-line use, she'd be packing a bit more firepower.

Actually, no, ever noticed that every party ever has a white mage?

Also, yes, countries with nuclear weapons have diplomats. Because other countries also have nuclear weapons. The Tome of the Night Sky is unique and belongs to a person, not a country. A person who doesn't have to worry about losing any resources, strategy, tactics or any of the like because the Wolkenritter take care of those aspects.

That program doesn't need to be sentient or sapient. It just has to do its job.
