That's my point. I think that they don't have so much problems finding Kanae, they have problems catching up with her.

The K:BDH universe has an equivalent to WH40K's Warp Storms that messes up any attempt at "sliding" into the universe from the outside, which had started sometime after Kanae slid into it (maybe a byproduct of the last Closed Space incident's resolution?), and only intermittently abate to a level that allows for brief incursions from the Combine and/or Wataru.

But Wataru already found Kanae so getting to her (or at least to the world where she is) shouldn't be difficult except for the energy requirements.

It isn't like Wataru believes Kanae escaped the SOS!world (meaning he'd try to find her again), as he tried to talk to Kyon.

I don't think bringing warhammer into this would be good for our health. Haruhi would not be pleased to meet those aliens or espers. Very few time travelers, barring aforementioned warp related instances.

Then maybe we need to have her "introduced" to WH40K.... whereupon she immediately cries bloody murder and orders her friends to "KEEP THAT ABOMINATION AWAY FROM ME! GAMES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, NOT ALL-CONSUMING GRIMDARK DESPAIR! I REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE ITS EXISTENCE!!!" Or something like that, expressing her utter loathing of the franchise's utterly-depressingly dystopian setting.

Haruhi is a troper, remember? She probably knows about it already.

I suspect that the only Tabletop Game Haruhi herself is suited for is Maid RPG. I find it hard to picture Haruhi playing something with more rules and less potential for hilarious application of tropes.

The First Law of Gender Bending is unlikely to be able to counteract Haruhi's power.

The problem is stopping the Second Law from rearing its head. Extremely unlikely that it would, though. We're talking in the space of a day or so, after all.

I'd be more interested in how the various brigade members would react. Not necessarily to the change but to Kyon's appearance.

Personally, I would think that the SOS Harem would still lock lips with Kyon, among other things... I would even wager that at least one of them may like "Kyonko" more, as they could do certain things at least somewhat more openly...

I'm guessing that either Tsuruya or Haruhi would be the one to take advantage of that whilst they could.

Koizumi's reaction would likely be absolutely hilarious.

It would be rather amusing if even Kanae was taller than Kyon, in that situation, even if barely.

I just thought of a way that this madness could ever be plot relevant. What if Kyon needs to hide from, say, Miyuki, for a while?

Kyon being Kyon, it would be interesting to see if the second law could actually affect him.

And I would like to see what his aunts and uncle would think of such a scenario. Maybe Rena might want to actually use her time-honored phrase for the occasion?

Also, I wonder what would happen if Nonoko found out about it?

The most important question would be how they would stop Kyon's mother finding out. Yuuto seems like he'd take it better, if still badly, but Kyon's mother...

On a semi-related note, if something like this happens and Kyon/Tsuruya have gained tattoos by then, would the design change?

How about.... Giving K:BDH!Kyonko the trait that so many doujin artist give to "canon"!Kyonko in their H-works: Bigger boobs than even Mikuru! Especially, make it big enough to give Mikuru herself an inferiority complex.

@Rainy Daze: Maybe if "Kyonko" becomes too important, then putting her on a bus would no longer be a viable option.

It's kind of difficult to think of a situation where Kyon hologuised as Kyonko would be more practical or safe than using throw-away disguises or just turning on the Invisibility Cloak (especially considering Japanese Pronouns and Body Language), except if he needs to enact the role for some reason and, of course, Rule of Funny.

I gave some thought to the possibility and after a while I arrived to this crackpot idea:

One reason for a recurring hologuise could be because Kyon is becoming too influential and therefore too restricted. Just think about it: To a Yakuza Kyon represents the Tsuruya-tachi, to Tachibana & Co. he is an ally of the Organization, to Fujiwara he is working for the Swarm, to Miyuki he is a person of interest, to Koizumi's Organization he speaks for Haruhi, etc.

Kyon has a very little room for mistakes, e.g. if he is seen negotiating with someone of the Sumiyoshi-rengo without the prior approval of the Tsuruya-tachi (maybe for something more beneficial to the SOS Brigade than to the Tsuruya-tachi), they will get suspicious of a double-cross or if he makes a deal with Takahashi for Sasaki's safety then many of members of the Organization will grow more apprehensive of his actions.

The idea is Kyon impersonating his own "deniable spokesman/liaison/negotiator" of sorts, someone who can speak to the enemies of his allies without compromising his "official" position. Of course it doesn't have to be specifically a disguise of Kyonko, I personally think that an Older Alter Ego would be better, but for that the First Law of Gender Bending exists. It starts as a joke or mistake and then it has to stay for any other reason. By the way, I don't know why I think that Asakura as Kyonko's bodyguard would be awesome in this situation (Nagato can't be away from the rest of the brigade for too long and Kyon absences are easy to explain).

I think Kyon would be still vulnerable to the Second Law of Gender Bending thanks to his predilection for ponytails. Bonus points if Koizumi or Taniguchi find Kyonko attractive.

I have to ask, why is it so easy to cobble together crazy theories for K:BDH? I doesn't happen with any other story in my case.

Older Alter Ego has the flaw that it might still be recognise as Kyon and disposable disguises are... well, not good if he doesn't want to have to meet everyone for the first time constantly.

And if you can have a perfect disguise, why not go for one which will never be recognised as you? Of course, the problem is that the disguises would only be holographic but Nagato is getting a power-up from Asakura.

Now, what three skills does Asakura have that Nagato hasn't displayed? The data jurisdiction thing, shapeshifting her body  ^*

, and producing that knife from seemingly nowhere. If Nagato decides that she doesn't want the second part...

It might also prove helpful, given that Kyon already has to be careful no-one notices he's wearing an invisible coat. Of course, Nagato and Haruhi would have to add an exception to the coat's immutability for it to be changed in any way but they'd probably do it, if Mikuru said it was alright.

And then Kyon's disguises would be perfect.
