Yeah, I'd expect the ending arc to be titled something like "Conclusion" or "Finale".

Looking for sprites for kids is difficult, since I keep running into content that makes my brain want to implode.

Oh, the sprites for the kids. Heh, sorry, I have no experience with that.

@Agasa:

I checked the Hinamizawa chapters in search of characterization cues for the dreadcousins. Surprisingly, there is not much in the way of restrictions for their physical appearance besides, that's it, the Strong Family Resemblance mentioned by Haruhi (and occasionally Kyon). It could become an Informed Attribute if it comes to that.

Probably unnecessary at this point, but these are my notes ordered by the kids' mother:

  • Rika:
    • Matsuri: Older than Shutaro and one year older than Nonoko, also the oldest looking of the bunch. She is "almost identical to what Kyon could remember of Rika's childhood pictures." (CG recycling?) Verbal Tic ("nih-pah~")
    • Shutaro: Looks a lot like Keiichi with a "neater, dusty blue hair". Needs older version (for "Shutaro") and a good "this is icky" face.

  • Mion:
    • "Nee-chan": Kyon's first crush, eldest daughter, Elopement. Lady Not-Appearing-in-These-Chapters.
    • Makoto: Naota's twin sister. Green hair. A tomboy.
    • Naota: Makoto's twin brother. Green hair. A "fast learner of all things physical" (like his mother, I suppose). A little bit of a p— I mean, he is a "healthy young man".

  • Rena:
    • Yurie: Brown-haired. Very smart for her implied age. The Force is Strong With This One.

  • Satoko:
    • Aiko: "dark blonde-haired". Apparently named after Keiichi's (and Akane's) mother, Maebara Aiko. Color blind. She got a cute scene where she swings from Kyon and Haruhi's arms, which made me think the she is perhaps the youngest.

  • Shion:
    • Yoko & Azusa: "A duo of light green-haired little girls". "Their hair was even a smooth blend of her green hair, and his blond hair." Always Identical Twins. They gave me "Satoko-ish" vibes for some reason.

Now I think about it, Yurie and Matsuri figure more prominently in the story In Your Dreams. It could be a good source for further inspiration.

I have been looking for a suitable base for adult!Satoshi outside the before mentioned sites, and let's just say that anime-styled older blond males seem to be yaoi preferred material and leave it at that.

Somewhat related. Just the other day I found a booru site containing images exclusively related to the When They Cry series (Higurashi/Umineko). Maybe someday it will come in handy: wakku.to.

Random pics: Freddy and Jason and Tenth Doctor & Co.

Edit: Older looking Satoshi in a suit. Makes me wonder if he works for the Sonozaki family too.

I only got emails from fanfiction.net and not Durandall's site, but he has a new story up: memento mori.

...this is the sort of story that makes me feel like a patented idiot for spending so much time playing video games.

[up] To add to the effect, listen to the Narcissu soundtrack while reading that.

I have to admit, Kyon's motivations don't really make sense to me. Why cling to the illusion that the world is what most people consider "normal" when you know it isn't? Then again, I suppose it's in character, since he's never seemed willing to fully explore the implications. Still seems like pointless stubbornness, though.

Excellent story if you grant the premise of Kyon's decision.

I cried. Feels even sadder that I can't tell Kuyou about it. This is a masterpiece.

Kind of surprised it got posted so soon. It's been on the SR forums for about a week or so. Bittersweet as all hell.

And all of the things that you guys are saying about this fic makes me want to not read it, since sad stuff of that level will likely do very bad things to my mindset. Especially if it's as good a piece as you all say.

Also, as I seem to be having issues in Real Life regarding sleep, I need to devote to that a bit more, meaning that working on the VN will likely be a sporadic thing at best...

What I can say is that I can find the bugs in it, and I found a particularly bad one regarding door sounds, since it keeps coming up. I figure that I point that out here, since I have difficulty keeping in touch with the team or giving updates, sadly...

My mission: to gather all of the Trope-tans and make New Tropeia a tropey place.

"Me Love You Long Time" is an alternative title for the trope Asian Gal with White Guy. It's also a line commonly associated with the tropes Asian Hooker Stereotype and Asian Speekee Engrish.

I cried. Feels even sadder that I can't tell Kuyou about it. This is a masterpiece.

Kuyou?

There is a trope page for it. Sweet Dreams Fuel is also an option.

For myself, comedy tends work better than WAFFy to get me out of my funk most of the time. That's how I learned about Angel Densetsu.

Someone (I don't remember who) once told me if I ever wanted to read/watch a book/series difficult to (let's say) "digest", then I should have Yotsuba&! at the ready just in case. Now I never got to that, so I still don't know how true this assertion really is. Maybe I should allocate the time for it.

Re: Memento Mori

I haven't read the story yet and the title is already giving me a pretty explicit warning about the content. Incidentally, "memento mori" must be the very first Gratuitous Latin I learned as a kid... dammit.

Tropes' pages.

I added a few entries to the following namespaces: Awesome, Fanfic, ShoutOut and WMG. I'm not very sure about them though.

[up][up][up]: It shows up as an unexpected error that causes Ren'Py to show the error screen, Agasa. When I looked at why it was giving the error, it stated that it couldn't find a particular SE(sound effect), and it's the "open door slow" or "open door fast"(forgive me if this isn't the exact words of what the SE files are called, although I'm certain that it uses those words, just may not in that exact order) SE that it is stating that it can't find.

I was able to use the "Ignore" option in order to keep watching the VN, and it pops up again later in a different part of the chapter. It's always in the same spots when it pops up, though, so it's a consistent error at least.

These errors show in the epilogue section that you have in the VN (The fight between Kyon and Ryo Ryuguu is in there, for reference), so if that part has not been error checked fully yet, well...

Totally random question. Does anyone know what class Yuki is in? Kyon and Haruhi are 2-5, but what about Miss 96%-only-because-she-doesn't-answer-4%-of-the-questions?
@Eamil:

Thanks for the info, it makes sense now.

@Silver:

The class 2-6 immediately comes to mind, but when I tried to confirm it I came up empty-handed. At first blush*, neither K:BDH or canon say a thing about the Yuki's class. Incidentally I got a little info about Kanae's class (1-7), Koizumi's (1-9 → 2-9) and it's inferable that Mikuru and Tsuruya's class is neither 3-4 (Ryuguu's) or 3-5 (Daimonji's).

In fact, I found a piece of trivia in the first novel that goes against my hypothesis: The former class 1-5 had PE together with the class 1-6, which would mean Haruhi and Kyon would had the chance to meet Yuki by then unless the latter decided to come up with an excuse to specifically avoid this outcome*.

Well, thanks for looking. I thought it was 2-6 as well, but couldn't figure out why I thought that, and didn't mention it to avoid prejudicing the results. I guess it's wide open for fan invention, then.

SPIKE!
I found a minor typo in chapter 16 of the Fanservice Arc.
"The years pass, we imagine, as they must, until June of 1983. As unfortunate as things have been for this girl and her friends, true tragedy strikes. One of her friends goes mad due to the influence of 'Hinezawa' syndrome. In a fit of rage, he...." She hesitated, then sipped her tea again before setting the cup on the floor. "He takes the lives of two of the friends he loves most.

Hinamizawa is mispelled as... Well, that. I'm not exactly sure if this is where I post instances of this happening but it seemed the most reasonable choice at the time.
