I think it would be nice to be able to create groups of folders that are controlled by different open/close all buttons as well as a "master" open/close all for the whole page. There are several pages that soft split between example types, and being able to control each section at a time would be nice, rather than a single button way up the page.

different from this? <- If that is what you are looking for, I always find it at the top of the edit page. Media Categories Template.

On a related note, when I went to tools and hit the folderize link I was sent to the source page for a random link. Just me?

No, that's just normal folders. What I'm talking about is a way to "group" folders so that they can be controlled individually by separate open/close buttons. For example:

Soft Split Section 1

[open/close button]

[folder 1]

[folder 2]

Soft Split Section 2

[open/close button]]

[folder 1]

[folder 2]

So that clicking the open/close button will only toggle the folders for a given group rather than all folders on a page.

Just to see if I understand...

There might be an Anime folder which can be opened alone. This folder might contain folders for several different shows. If I wished to expand the Anime folder, all its contained folders would also open. Is that the idea?

I think she saying that if there's a three-way soft split on the page and all of them are folderized, that she could open or close all the folders in one section of the split without affecting the other sections.

I must suck at explaining.

No, what I'm saying is if a trope is soft split between, say, straight examples, aversions, and subversions, with several folders under each soft split, I could open each set of folders individually. So if there is an anime, film, and live action tv folder under aversions, I can close all of those at once while keeping all the folders under straight examples and subversions open.

Less abstract example: But Thou Must Notice under each soft split header there are multiple folders? But there is only one open/close button, and it works for all of them. It would be nice to be able to only open all of "Examples where giving the "wrong" answer has little or no effect" without scrolling back up to the control button, then scrolling down past all the "Examples where giving the "wrong" answer makes it impossible to proceed until you give the "right" answer (including giving Nonstandard Game Overs)" examples that are now open.

EDIT: Ah, Madrugada ninja-edited me and changed her post. Yes, that's what I mean.

Yeah, sorry about that. I went back and re-read your post and realized that I had mis-read it the first time.

Okay, I think I see. Something like a "open section folders" button.

Sorry to bring this up, but I think that whatever template there is to make folders needs to be fixed. The Death Note Just Bugs Me section is a good example of what I mean.

The section is too big. There's only one folder — so there's no real need for the folder markup at all. Either take it out completely, or use it properly — using folders to separate related sections, for example, "The fine points of the rules — time", "The fine points of the rules — causes", and "The fine points of the rules — apparent paradoxes". And don't put wikiwords or links in the folder titles — it you do that, the clicking anywhere on the foldertab over the words bounces you away from the page the folder is on to the linked page.

The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
