Pretty much the same as the Games one on that thread, but with anime.

For me, I guess most Shōnen fit here.

I am not sure about this. A lot of the time I feel like I do not know the fanbases of shows I like very well since I hide my power level in real life. That means that pretty much all I know about fanbases comes from stuff I see online which may not be indicative of fanbases as a whole.

Regardless, I generally try to stay away from fandoms when they focus on the "cute girl" aspects of shows like Suzumiya Haruhi, Sketchbook, Lucky Star, K-On or the like. That is not to say that I dislike those fans, just that because I am not really into those shows for that reason I do not have much in common with those types of fans.

Additionally, I try to stay away from fan behavior that is trollish or that encourages hating other fans. I may come back to this topic later after I think a little bit more, sorry.

I used to have problems with the Dragon Ball fandom back in the days when Dragon Ball Z was the only one of the anime anyone was familiar with, but its gotten better.

I don't really hang out in anime fandoms much though.

Well, I've had issues with the RAW RAW FIGHT THE POWER crowd, but since the massive hype seems to have died out, I don't mind them that much.

Haruhi's fanbase is as prone to excessive hype, but the lack of ALLCAPS memes makes them less annoying. However the fact that new material comes out regularly means the hype doesn't die out. Still, not much more than mild annoyance, that can be almost always avoided.

As with games I tend to avoid interacting with fanbases outside of here and personal friends in real life. I do like the works they create and I do enjoy reading their drama for shiggles, but I personally do not want to be involved with these people much of the time.

^^^ There still some bad ones though, like always saying that modern shonen anime sucks because they say they still a lot of dragonballs ideas, when in reality, because dragonball was so popular, it and Fist Of The North Star influenced many shonen anime to come.

Another one I can't stand is the Wolfs Rain Fanbase and its Yaoi Fangirls. The fact that there are so many of them for a Seinen (Which is adult male) anime is beyond belief. Then again, the wolves's human forms were rather bishounen, though.

Pokémon. You will rarely ever find a more Serious Business Broken Base over a simple children's cartoon. For a good idea of what it is like, read through its entire entry on Ship-to-Ship Combat.

Yeah, but that's only one of the issues that makes the Pokemon fanbase nucking futs.

I also have to mention dub Fan Haters in general. Yes, I know that (insert anime here) was significantly edited, but that doesn't mean I can't still enjoy it. To clarify though, I don't mind people who dislike the dub, just people who are overly elitist about the original Japanese version.

Mai Hime. Oh my God, Mai Hime.

It's all Shizuru-Natsuki, Shizuru-Natsuki, Shizuru-Natsuki, Shizuru-Natsuki, Shizuru-Natsuki, Shizuru-Natsuki, at nauseam. With the occasional remembering Nao exists.

Now, I like Natsuki. And Nao too, kinda. But still...

Oh God, I know just the type of elitist pricks. I've had to deal with them since I first started surfing the internet. There's really only a minority of truly terrible dubs out there but to them, all dubs suck because they're a "butchery of the pure, original Japanese version". They're why I use "otaku" as a negative term.

^^ Especially since you know that is fucking creepy as fuck.

I've tended to notice that I hate most anime fanbases. That is, fans of specific series.

Some, but not all, Hetalia fans. Especially people who say that the American Revolution strip is SO SAD ;_;. I also tend to get this feeling like Hetalia is some kind of in-club, where membership allows you to talk about how much you like writing USUK fanfiction, make 5-meter/vital regions jokes every 3 seconds, sing either Hatafutte Parade/Pub & Go/Marukaite Chikyuu/Buono Tomato on repeat in a chorus with other Hetalia folks, act like your chosen cosplay character all the time, and take on the duty of finding Hetalia related innuendo EVERYWHERE.

Also the fact that there are a fuckton of Hetalia groups on Deviantart (and it's not like there are that many because they're all unique clubs for each ship— I'm pretty sure there are multiple generic clubs, multiple cosplay clubs, multiple ship clubs, etc...) and like...1 for Ghibli films. ¬_¬

^^ Yeah, don't get me wrong, I can be a Yuri Fanboy under the right conditions, but Shizuru... No. Just... No.

It wouldn't bother me so much if the fanbase didn't still lick her metaphorical feet forgiving anything she did while bashing characters who didn't even do one fourth of it, just because she's Da Hawwtnezz. Or if Sunrise hadn't taken that ball and ran with it in Mai Otome and Mai Hime Destiny to the point of disbelief.

Shizuru is even all that hot and I don't understand pairing even if I am a fan of the Hime series. Gundam, I have nothing agsiont the show itself but UC, CE and 00 fans can be irritating. I am just anooyed at how some fans can take this way too seriously especially when it comes to which show you are watching. UC is the orignal Gundam and all other Gundams that is not UC is fail or even the other way around.

I feel this way about One Piece. I like it overall, but I'm willing to acknowledge certain flaws in the series (like the lack of Character Development until quite recently) that fans sometimes flame you for mentioning. It seems that to be a "True Fan" of One Piece, you have to hate Naruto and Bleach.

I only have watched Gundam Wing and G-Gundam. The first one bored me to tears, but I kinda liked the latter.

I suppose that makes me some sort of Antichrist for Gundam fandom.

The Gundam Antichrist likes ZZ, G, Wing, SEED, SEED Destiny and 00 and hates 0079, Zeta, Char's Counterattack, Victory, The 08th MS Team, and Turn A.

The Bleach fandom has a way of getting on my nerves, if only because so many of them seem to hate the series yet keep up with it, and memes that get out of hand.

That said, I don't have any real serious problem with any of the people of hang around the Bleach thread here, I'm just talking about the fanbase in general.

I'm kind of torn about the Durarara fanbase. It's nowhere near the worst I've been in (that would probably be Zelda), but sometimes it feels like the whole fanbase is exclusively devoted to slashing Shizuo and Izaya.
