Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

One week left for the Kickstarter. Only real goals left to reach are Hard Mode(likely), more translations on launch day(unlikely) and someone who's most likely a well known composer contributing(need 100K more for that so...).

Wakka being racist is just hilarious, though.
And since Character Development cures him of this or he just moves his racism onto the Guados it's all in good fun.
"Eyyyy Bleetzbol, but also apartheid, ya?"
Man, that XIV patch trailer is great.
I cannot wait to fight Sephirot.
I have a message from another time...Hey, at least the Al Bhed were allowed to take part in national sport and such.

Yeah, Wakka was a clumsy Fantastic Racist. Nice dude, but totally brainwashed by Yevon's hypocritical blame-shifting onto an innocent and technologically minded race that weren't hugely into religion.
I mean, that's the point of course, but it's still clumsy and dumb.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.I don't see it as 'clumsy' or 'dumb', he was the Zealot of the party which was counter played vs each character in the party with the exception of Kimahri.
Al Bhed do not follow Yevon thus evil. Many many religions work that way, it helps enforce obedience and removes access to bad ideas.

I would say that Wakka's case is depressingly close to many real-life persons that aren't necessarily evil to begin with but that can be easily brainwashed with some less-than-tasteful opinions.
Actually the least realistic thing about Wakka is that after being a zealot, when presented with facts that prove he is wrong, he actually changes his mind.
It's important to remember that Wakka also has personal reasons for hating the Al Bhed. His brother died using one of their weapons, which in his mind makes them partially responsible.
Dreamkeepers Prelude, check it out!And for all the jokes I make, he really doesn't want them to die, just either convert or stay out of the way.
Seeing what the Guado were doing in Home opens his eyes to these real people suffering, making his previous prejudices seem petty in comparison.
Also, his spent almost his whole life in Besaid, making him have the least worldly knowledge of Spira outside of Tidus.
You know, it actually reminds me of a character from Harry Potter.

The irony is that Wakka gets the closure he needs with his brother from an Al Bhed. And Beclem, but fuck that guy.
I'm playing XIII-2, and Snow's model still has his Brand on his forearm. Is this a case of sloppy retexturing, or is this hinting at something larger happening with Snow?
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.Wakka was a good representation of religious fanatics without making them cartoonish.
He found a fal'cie.
Snow is the only character who's a l'Cie in all three games. I think he gets branded by a Cactuar fal'Cie before XIII-2? The one that there's a statue of in Yusnaan.
Heart of StoneIndeed.
PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/TheyIts in the companion novel for XIII-2. You can find only hints about it in XIII-2 itself in the Gravaton Core fragments though, Snow was obviously trying to keep the info about what he had done from Serah.
His Focus is to be the Big Damn Heroes to help Serah and Lightning in the final battle.

(x4)
Which sucks, because IIRC, it doesn't ever get expanded on, except in supplemental material. There is the alternate ending where Snow becomes a time-traveling biker, but apart from that, Snow's L'cie status is So Last Season.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!An AU sequel with Snow and Serah would have been awesome.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Quite frankly I'm startled you were looking at his brand.
Most people are too distracted by XIII-2 Snow's hair.

Hair? More like plumage.
But yeah, after a battle the camera zoomed right up on him and his brand was clearly visible. I was torn on whether they'd managed to recycle his base model with new hair and clothes, or if it was relevant to the plot. Given the game and premise I should have known better, but it's in the same spot as his brand in the first game.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.It marks the locations of their hearts. Or souls. Or spirits. Or something. Or I'm just talking out my ass.
Speaking of which though, I guess if Vanille was rebranded, itwould go right on her hiny.
fal'Cie are weird.
How's the game going for you, though? Liking how more open everything is? You've met Adult Hope, right?

It's growing on me. Adult Hope is cool, and I'm getting used to the combat. I don't think I like wound damage.
Still divided on Caius, and Yeul is like 12. As long as it's not implied that he wants to be all up inside that, I guess. Also a bit divided about Noel.
I like how your first interaction with the colosseum is basically Edgelord Mc Grim Dude going "Begone, mortals! This bloodsoaked realm lies beyond the bonds of time and space, and there are already ill omens afoot!", Noel going "hey brah we'll take that ill omen for ya" and the Arbiter of Time actually giving up an artefact. And then character building with Noel as they linger in the arena of Bloodfist Mc Death Plague.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.
The best thing ARR did was letting people play as cat boys and gorilla girls.
