It has been far too long since he has released a video. I very much enjoyed this video, and I can't wait for the rest. On that note, he very thankfully did not fall into the trap of bashing it the same way too many other guys do.
Don't catch you slippin' now. Some greatest hits from the guy:
When he took Film/Suicide Squad to task for its atrocious editing:
When he did an autopsy on the balls-out crazy plot of The Book of Henry:
Talking about Elsgate and the trend of creepy kids-targeted videos
And finally, VidMe (RIP... prolly not) and the insidious nature behind online platforms:
The 50 Shade video basically feels like a companion piece to Lindsay Ellis' video on Twilight and apologizing for complaining about it so much.

Ambiguous parsing, sorry. I'm saying that Ellis' Twilight video was about apologizing for complaining so much.

I remember reading about Book Club in EW and was vaguely wondering if I should watch for how dumb its premise sounded but it seems like the better option is to just go binge watch Grace and Frankie again.
Well, either way it was a very interesting look into how the process of theatrical films end up on tv channels in different countries.
I just watched his video on No Man's Sky and I have to say, it was very compelling.
Course, I'm one of those people who didn't know the game existed until it came out, so I wasn't one of the ones disappointed by all the hype. Also I haven't played it so.

Oh right, this guy. Heard from Hbomberguy that he was a “better Youtuber” than him, so I checked out his videos. Turned out what really stuck in my brain about his videos as a cardboard MST 3 K puppet was his video about projecting superheroes as embodying the US’s “World’s Policeman” identity, and his two NGE videos where he repeats the Sarin Gas myth and makes the 80000th complaint about Shinji masturbating to Asuka’s comatose body. I like his recent videos about trying to be EFAP, but jeez, those older videos...
Finally he fulfills our cries to burn our names in a coffee can.
Does anyone here watch his twitch stuff? I just watched him play some CSI game. It was an...experience.
A good one or bad one? I mean in general, not the game.
Amazing. The game's episodes are basically rejected plots. This episode nearly broke Dan.
It's HERE
I can’t prove it, but I’m pretty sure that I can identify the exact scene where Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson started drinking to get through the nudity and sex, and it’s the shower scene where they’re on the boat. The reason I pinpoint this one is because we have so many examples of Johnson doing an admirable job at acting while crying, but in that scene she’s suddenly delivering her lines like she just got home from the dentist.

I got so engaged in the movie analysis that I actually didn't realize it was only just four minutes of the entire video and was surprised to see the video game portion pop up.
But this game is fascinating in every aspect so I'm glad I learned of its existence.
He mentions on Twitter that he had a punchy but too short script for the movie, and a script for the game he wanted to share for the joy of it, and just merged them and go amused by the whiplash.
I watched the livestream of when he played the game.... It was literally painful to watch. I'm not exaggerating at all. I was literally getting sick.
Don't catch you slippin' now.I watched it shortly after, before it seems to have been taken down.
Yeah, it was an aggressively bad game. Like, I think the review if anything understates just how much of a trainwreck it was. There was an ~an hour of trying to get past the flight sim, all with the worst music...
The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -FighteerDan Olson talks about Annihilation (2018), and those goddamn "X Movie Ending Explained" videos that don't really .... explain the movies they discuss.
Since we don't have a thread, figured I'd make one about youtube's best film theory / criticism guy. And since he has a new video about Fifty Shades of Grey, why not.
