A new Netflix original animated series is set to debut on Netflix in January 2018. The series is called "Llama Llama" based on the children's book series by Anna Dewdney.

Here's the first two screenshots of the series.

Or this being a spin-off of this song.

Honestly, it looks good. And I'm surprised more children shows are moving to Netflix instead of Nick Jr.

I remember reading "Llama Llama, Red Pajama", at Barnes and Noble when I was nine or ten, and being annoyed at how bratty the main character was. From what I can gather from the other early books, he was basically a llama version of Caillou. At least in this show, it looks like he's going to be a lot more tolerable.

I wonder if they'll address what happened to Papa Llama.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a Pascualina animated series. I loved the agendas as a kid.

For those curious, here's the pitch bible.

You can also see a couple of brief clips here at 2:14.

I created the Llama Llama page here and have been excited for the show for a while. I would not be at all surprised if we don't hear so much as a whiff of whatever happened to Papa Llama. Thanks for the second video - I hadn't seen those clips. And, yeah, the appearance of the show is adorable.

For those not familiar with the books, the sheep character Euclid and the giraffe Luna are both creations of the TV show. And I'm very interested in the sheep character. My first thought upon seeing the character was Assistant Mayor Bellwether, just from the visual, but apparently he's male. Don't see many normal pre-school - early grade-school kids though wearing a suit shirt and tie as their day-to-day outfit unless it's either some sort of school uniform or they're The Boss Baby.

If Allen Gregory could be seen wearing a suit and tie everyday and not be called out for it, then so can this kid. The only difference is that I think I'll like this sheep boy more.

Anyways. I do hope this helps families make the transition to streaming sites for the little ones even more, since Nick Jr and Disney Junior are kind of losing a lot of interesting new material.

I dislike streaming, but I don't have a TV with channels either so I buy DVDs only XD;

This seems a lot better than GBI's other shows. Hopefully it does well and convinces them to make more in this fashion, regardless of where it airs. One thing they made that will air on Nick Jr. TV this year is Rainbow Rangers, which I'm cautiously optimistic about despite how SpacePOP, another girl-focused series, was described in the promotional pitch as "Spice Girls meets Star Wars" and never really recovered from that, with shallow characters, bad animation, the Uncanny Valley, and lack of stakes being some (but not all) of its problems.

Also, as I mentioned before, it doesn't look like he'll be as bad as Caillou.

Yeah, we see him let out a Big "NO!" when he hears they're going shopping, and we see him fighting over Fuzzy Llama with Nelly Gnu, but that's tame compared to throwing a tantrum because they're going to the circus tomorrow and not today, or pinching his baby sister.

His voice is also a lot more easy on the ears than Caillou's, so I'll give them that.

If anyone wants a taste of the series before it airs, I recommend Llama Llama and Friends, the first book based on the show to be released. And, yeah, definitely not a Caillou type from that. The title depicts him happily running a day of errands for Mama Llama.

According to IMDb, the show will be using a Vancouver-based voice cast with Kathleen Barr as Grandma Llama, for instance.

Not sure if it's been officially confirmed yet, so we have to wait and see.

I really hope this has better animation than GBI's other works. Gisele and the Green Team and SpacePOP both have really limited animation, and so do their other shows as seen in this promo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwC7ZBB4YPM

Schedule Slip also seems to be a problem. On their YouTube channel it used to be just a SpacePOP channel until they ran out of material while waiting for Season 2 to start. Season 1 ended in July 2017 and the rest was reruns packaged together, while a promotional event for the series at Fathom was abruptly canceled, planned dolls never appeared, and the Rainbow Rangers TV special set to air late 2017 didn't happen.

I wonder if Llama Llama and Rainbow Rangers will be on here too. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClaiZadeWKgPDWFLqeHaDyQ/videos?disable_polymer=1

I just watched the first couple episodes, and it was a really cute show. It's certainly better than a lot of other preschool shows I've seen.

The animation is a little stiff, the lip-syncing isn't perfect, and some of the facial expressions are weird, but at least the designs look appealing.

Sorry for the double-post, but I got to the shopping episode, and Llama threw a pretty big tantrum in that one, like in the book.

That said, at least Mama scolded him for it and specifically taught him that behavior was wrong, unlike in the book. But I wonder if this tantrum will become a meme and the subject of Go Animate parodies just like Caillou and DW's tantrums.

Depends on if it reaches a wide enough audience to become a meme.

So, I finished watching through the whole show, and yeah, it's pretty cute. Sort of your typical preschool show, but it's charming enough. It doesn't have any bad morals for kids, as far as I can tell.

Anyone read the 4chan threads about it, though? They're pretty disturbing, to say the least. (Though I did find the reactions to Nelly's beard to be pretty funny, with many even saying she looked like JonTron.)
