Opened. Voting Keep Until Better Image Suggested as I'm pretty sure this is just a parody someone created.

^ Seems to nail it.
That's good. Either panel 2 or panel 1+2.
I think the first panel's roughly equal to the current, 1+2 is kinda overkill, and the whole thing subverts the trope. It's funny, but not an improvement to me.
I vote to keep the image. It closely mimics the real life reactions of this trope when Rowling announced Dumbledore was gay.
Eh, that line of thinking only works provided (1) one knows about Harry Potter, Dumbledore, and Rowling and (2) was aware of the public reaction following the announcement.
3. I think panel 2 works well enough that it doesn't need both 1 and 2.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyI'm kinda fine with the current. The suggestion is okay, but honestly, I find the current funnier.
I had something witty to say, but sums it up.
Check out my fanfiction!I mean, if we're going down the "it's funnier" route, I guess I might as well say that it isn't funny or anything to me. It's kind of a "high brow" meme as far as jokes go.

Nominations for replacement images:
That's a very funny image and an awesome fan edit, but... It doesn't illustrate anything about the creator saying anything about a character—it's a gossipy magazine, so seems to illustrate "gossip about a person's orientation" rather than Word of God saying anything about it.
Also, there seems to be some sort of logo or watermark over the barcode in the lower right corner ("Best Week", etc.), so do we even have the right to use the image?
