This first came up on the Tales of series thread on the Video Games board, regarding the ending to Talesof Zestiria. Big Sleep has some issues with the trope name not being clear. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=12935279380A74393100&page=520

The trope definition is basically "a character closes his/her eyes before dying peacefully." The problem is, some people seem to be taking the trope name literally, using it to refer to a character sleeping for an extended period of time (perhaps even eternally). Others are using this trope to mean "sleep used as a metaphor for death", The trope namer, as the page notes, does not actually include this trope, nor does the page quote (both use "the big sleep" as a euphemism for death but do not actually show the deaths in question.) When both the trope namer and page quotes are misuse, I think we have a problem.

Trope used for literal sleep:

Tsukihime/Arcueid

Blood +

Lenore (listed as an aversion, but reads like the character was merely asleep for a long time)

Sleep as metaphor for death:

Reflections

Gensoyko 20XX/Reimu (character is described as innocent and sees death as "only sleeping.")

The Big Sleep (Trope Namer)

The Bible (also a generic example)

Harry Potter (character's eyes are closed AFTER his death; other character remarks that he looks like he is asleep)

Ib (may just be a ZCE, only lists a quote)

Ren & Stimpy Show (page quote, erroneously labeled Trope Namer)

Character dies in his/her sleep (related to above):

Garfield: His Nine Lives

Angel

Borderlands 2 (at least, the way the entry is written)

ZCE/Needs Clarification:

CLANNAD: After Story

Air

Tsukihime/Kohaku

Outlaw Star

Last One Standing

Lost

Crisis Core

Mega Man X 4

Mass Effect

Probably Correct:

Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin

Death Note

Kanon

Fate/Stay Night

Gunslinger Girl

Code Geass

Dragon Ball Z

Masses to Masses

Gensokyo 20XX/Sakuya

Titan A.E.

The Princess and the Frog

Tangled

Fantasia

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Thor: The Dark World

Camille

Children of the Mind (possibly)

Firefly

Game of Thrones

Supernatural

Fire Emblem Elibe (should probably change the name to Binding Blade, since Fire Emblem Elibe refers to two games.)

Persona 3

Tales of Monkey Island

Final Fantasy XIII-2

Futurama

Bo Jack Horseman

So that's 22 incorrect or needing additional information and 27 correct. Nearly half of the entries should be fixed or removed (this trope doesn't have a whole lot of entries to begin with). My personal opinion would be to rename and maybe flesh out the trope definition to make things a bit more clear.
