So... does this mean Cap and the others don't get to fight the giant multi-headed monster? Like, at all? Because if so, that would fucking suck.

Seems like it. I intended it to last longer, but that was before Ersatz Superman went all Armageddon on it.

TBH, there wasn't much Cap's current crew could have done. But don't worry, there are more events coming their way.

To be fair, Sijo, we already broke both of its legs. Why wouldn't we, in character, finish the fight ourselves rather than wait for someone else to do it?

Dude, it's literally the first game day and Sijo was already 25 when the first issue of Captain America came out. You'll have plenty of cool stuff to do.

The joke is that Sijo is an old man, yes.

It's just a tradeoff. It would be too unmanageable to have everyone in the same place I think. You guys got your own plot hooks with the museum and the street people had their deal with Artume and the giant.

It seems like we're getting close to the end of our first "set" of things so who knows what groups will Avengers assemble next. Maybe Cap and Diana will meet up punching communist in giant robots. Maybe Angela and Detective Chimp will blow open a conspiracy about genetically modified fruit. Who knows? Aside from Sijo, of course.

Anyway, an RPG is not like writing a story. You can plot things but you have to let the efforts of the players drive things. Wonder Woman and Apollo worked too well against the giant (I was hoping Angela would join in too but the player apparently didn't think she could recover fast enough.) Sure I could have stretched the fight longer, but it was getting tiresome already. I'm sure if Cap and Boom Boom had arrived earlier they might have helped but that's just not how things turned out.

OTOH there's still a living, just unconscious monster from Greek mythology lying in a devastated New York City street and that needs to be dealt with, guys. Don't worry, I have the means at hand.

Sorry for my continued lack of posting, guys. Might have been a mistake to jump into the game before I was fully prepared. Currently a little dizzied from so much going on at once, and not sure which plot to slot Mantra in where. But I'm going to resist bowing out, and ask where the Hood's disappearance was in relation to...everything.

It's OK, Liz, and things seem to be settling down (for now) so it's a great jumping in point.

(Oh and The Hood didn't go anywhere. He's just using his power of invisibility, which only works while he's holding his breath for some reason. So he's still there, right in front of Mantra, trying to sneak away before he runs out of air. However, she can probably still locate him by his demonic magic emanations.)

There we go, finally posted for something somewhere. Bit cowardly to not have Mantra directly interact with anything going on, maybe, but I until I can fully wrap my head around what that anything is, I'm just gonna play it safe and follow this current plot thread.

By the way, is it okay if I retcon Eden Blake's job to be in SHIELD's NY base, mostly so she and Chimp can have an occasion or two to interact?

Since it's early on in the game, I'll allow it.

I just thought of this possibility, but if Diana used the Lasso of Truth on Apollo, would he recall any of his memories, or are they permanently gone?

I'm not exactly sure. It's not like he's lying about not being able to remember anything. I kinda wanna say that they're permanently gone, or at least gone for the time being, because if he has them then that takes away like a third of his journey and motivation.

Maybe it just doesn't work because the stress of remembering it hurts him? The lasso is supposed to cause people to remember the "truth", but too much resistance could psychologically damage them, so I don't think Diana would push him about it.

I'd say it would only work if a mental command to not remember has been put on him, but not if his memories have actually been erased.

I'm going to let Shark decide, since its his character.

Hurricane Maria is expected to hit Puerto Rico this Wednesday. Do not be concerned for my safety; I have a safe place to stay that has weathered many storms and is not in a flood area. Hi everyone. As you may have noticed, I haven't been posting a lot lately. My job has just been giving me a LOT of stress lately, so I just haven't really been able to focus much on RP'ing. I keep trying to make a new post, but I just can't get around to it. I'm not saying I'm quitting persay, (not yet anyway,) but if my posting's been sparse, that's why. I'll keep trying to get up a new post, but, well, we'll see. Sorry about this.

Well, that was a lot longer than "a few days..."

But yeah, I survived Maria fine, but it did a real number on my island. About 2/3 of the island still have no power; I'm one of the lucky first.

But anyway: anyone still interested in playing? Let me know and I'll get back in business!

...although admittedly I don't exactly know how well I could just pick up from exactly where we left off without having to reread a lot of things. I'd be down for some sort of handwave/timeskip to let us start a new scene without trying to pick up from two months ago.
