Not really. Earn Your Title only applies to those that come from what you did, not who/what you are, where you are from, etc...

To expand on that:
Eric the Red — not an earned epithet, it's based on a physical attribute.
Jaime Lannister, Kingslayer: An earned epithet. He got that epithet because of what he did.
