Opened.
Is this a western otaku, as in Japanese pop culture aka anime, or japanophile? They are very different.
I am seeing both here, the suggested image is more of a Japanophile with the Kabuki.
For example the American Nils in Gundam Build Fighters is a total Japanophile being obsessed with Samurai and such. Not so much an otaku.

Bumping!
Also this is about as good as I can think up at the moment [1]◊ Sue from Genshiken cosplaying as a Princess Merururinsu Rede Arls from Atelier Meruru. EDIT: reading a magical girl manga◊
Phenotype Stereotype is about the best we can get without actual broken english dialogue.

Nothing? Nor an answer to my question?
The trope doesn't seem to distinguish between fan of Japan in general or just Japanese works.
When it comes to anime images, Mukokuseki could make this hard to discern from a regular Otaku. Maybe a photo◊ from a convention◊ not in Japan?
Being outside Japan excludes it from being this trope, this is a western otaku in a Japanese work. At least it should be that, that's the only difference between that an just Otaku is their out of placeness and how they are treated.
The trope probably should with its current name there is a huge difference between a japanophile and an otaku.

Then the examples need cleaning up. Either way it needs a better description.
We should probably change the page quote, too. It doesn't really have anything to do with the trope. (Yes, I know what "weeaboo" means, but the PBF quote predates that usage.)

This pic◊ did not get enough consensus in the Image Suggestion thread. Other ideas?
