I hate these first look pics. They’re always just the actors standing around in street clothes on a nondescript set.
Don’t make an official release until you have something to release.
”Ok, so I have a 12:00 with editorial, then lunch at 2, and that one guy finally wants to interview at 2:45.”
At least he looks like Eddie. Topher Grace was a stick in comparison.
Barely? I mean, if your standards for "Looks like" are "Is a white man." Sure.
Eddie's a blond (Or ginger in earlier appearances), Eddie is also ripped. The guy looks... nothing like him. Heck, you could argue Topher Grace was actually closer by virtue of having the proper hair color.
Which, to be fair, physical resemblance isn't a requirement for him to be good (See Thor's Heimdall)

Nobody's as jacked as they are in the comics, but without knowing much else about the portrayal they're going for, I like his expression and look. Seems like a guy who's covered wars, y'know.
Dead Rising crossover confirmed?

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Yeah at least Eric Forman had blonde hair before he became Venom.
Mileena MadnessFor reference, this◊ is Eddie Brock.
The musculature and hair color are missing, but props for the face.
Which isn't to say it's bad, mind you. I look forward to seeing what they do with this casting. But I'm not giving it points for "He's a dead ringer for Eddie, unlike that loser Topher Grace!"

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Topher Grace was just a little too boyish, and the way the character was written was a little too...perky? for the man who would be Venom. I don't quite know what they were going for, really.
It's basically what I was saying.
So, do you guys think they'll keep the big spider emblem on Venom's chest or do you think Sony will get rid of it to obscure Venom's ties with Spider-Man? In fact, do you think Venom will still have the ability to shoot webs or will that be too Spidey for their liking?
They might as well not even call it Venom if that is the case.
Mileena MadnessApparently someone zoomed in Brock's notebook in that picture and it says:
- What about the allegations your empire is built on?
- That you recruit the most vulnerable of us to volunteer for the tests that end up...them?
I wonder if the Symbiote will still be an alien then, or a product of this corporation.
They're probably going the Ultimate route, it sounds like. The Venom symbiote in the Ultimate comics was an experimental medical treatment that was supposed to cure cancer.
I'm going to be disappointed if that's so. I strongly prefer the alien symbiote. Ultimate Venom is just a mindless cannibal monster that runs around devouring people to sustain itself.
Bendis doesn't like symbiotes very much.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Mind you, they can take the origin story without the monster part.
Ultimate Venom's origin makes sense for a movie. 616 Venom's origin story is so tied with Spider-Man, it's why many of its adaptations falter. And you need to set up Eddie own issues with Spiderman. The Ultimate origin at least allows for a far more self-contained plot that's not reliant on Spiderman.
On the bright side, they can finally do Carnage some justice without ruining the family friendly image Spidey himself has.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterIf we get Carnage.
Mileena MadnessWe'll probably get Carnage. He's pretty much the iconic go-to adversary for Eddie Brock's Venom. If Venom's in a thing and he's not the villain, nine times out of ten, it's because they're fighting Carnage.
Eddie Brock as Venom basically has two missions in life: stick it to Spider-Man and fight Carnage.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Google fu for "Venom movie carnage". First result sez Carnage is the villain.
Idunno how reliable the source is though. :hmm
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! If it's not Carnage, it'll be those Spider Slayers or whoever was behind the mecha in the Lethal Protector arc were.

"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterOh snap.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man might be in Venom after all.
I'm thinking this can work out if:
- MCU!Spidey and Sony-Verse!Spidey are two different Spideys played by the same dude.
- Or Venom takes place a ways after Avengers 4 after Spidey hypothetically acquires the Symbiote. (Yes, I'm aware that Feige established there wouldn't be any Symbiote shenanigans...but what if he's bluffing?)
- Alternatively, the Symbiote's origins could take the Ultimate approach and be mad science gone wrong since Spider-Man 3 already used the "evil space goo" origin.
Either way, it looks like this movie might not be Steel and Catwoman all over again. Might.
Is that a houseboat?
