Agents of Shield. They had Nitro as a one-off villain. Their solution to capture him was sucking him into what looked like a giant pokeball. It was awesome.
Mark Millar should be blamed for not knowing how these guys' powers worked. If Namorita smashed Nitro into a bus, he should have either been killed or in a coma. Likewise, Nitro was never that powerful before CW. hell, in a previous story his explosion failed to kill Daredevil at a distance of 10 feet or less.
In fact, Iron Man once defeated Nitro by making him explode over and over again to tire him out. And this was done in front of civilians. Namorita was actually more cautious by comparison since it looked like she was trying to knock him out.
His upgrade in powers was later explained by him boosting via Mutant Growth Hormone, given to him by the CEO of Damage Control who wanted more business.
Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't written by Millar and was only done to explain Nitro's power boost.
And it still doesn't explain how he survived Namorita smashing him into a bus. Did they enhance his durability too?
It's superhero comics. People with no powers regularly survive being slammed face-first through concrete walls on account of the fact that, as every superhero will proudly remind you, "killing is a choice". No matter how much violence you unleash on a person, if you're not actively trying to kill them, they'll shake it off.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.This happens more often in comic books than one would think. That's so common it'd be pointless blaming Millar exclusively for it.
Superman did not start with the ability to fly or push planets. Coincidentally you never see Superman doing the latter anymore because it makes most of his adventures ridiculous.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I remember when a writer tried to power down Wolverine by writing an arc about how every time he dies, he swordfights Death and if he wins, he gets to come back to life. This was meant to explain why his regeneration was so out of control and, by the end of the arc, he no longer was allowed to swordfight Death and could only regenerate from reasonably survivable things.
Lasted about five seconds for all the other writers to stop giving a shit, but it's interesting. Comics might just be the only medium where writers will make an Author's Saving Throw against each other.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.It wasn't Death. It was merely an angel of death.
You know I just realized superhero comics are kind of weird.
Superhero comics are kind of weird in the way that the sun is kind of hot.
One of Supergirl's supporting characters post-crisis was a trans-gender half-angel shapeshifting pegasus centaur.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Didn't she date Superhorse at one point?

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Since NBC's Powerless was a failure, maybe Marvel should scrap this series altogether.
No way. As long as they don't go in the Powerless direction — trying to combine a "wacky" office comedy with a superhero universe — and instead play to the strengths of the characters, it should be fine. Hell, I want to see Squirrel Girl kick some ass.
That's the thing: I want to see all these characters played straight. And in playing them straight, that's where the comedy comes in. Seeing a girl command squirrels to defeat bad guys, seeing a guy who has a bulletproof skateboard, seeing a guy who can create exploding bubbles, seeing a guy whose power is basically "I can't die," but playing them all straight? That's comedy.
Thankfully, the showrunner is Kevin Biegel, who wrote for Scrubs and was one of the showrunners on Cougar Town, which was awesome and hilarious.
Just because Powerless didn't pull it off it doesn't mean that Marvel can't.
And I agree, they need to play it straight. Don't throw tired jokes and one liner in it, just let the characters be how they are. The humour will come from how crazy the situation is. Ao S actually does this all the time. Coulson geeking out makes me smile or laugh every single time.

That.
No amount of quippy one-liners or self-aware references could be quite as funny as that moment when you realize that they just stopped an unstoppable supervillain by catching him in a giant Poke Ball and that you were entirely okay with that happening.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Or a "Damn, I missed it." at the right moment.
Being a sitcom and an Affectionate Parody of Marvel itself, it will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Uh...yeah, it kind of is part of the MCU.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Yeah, unless we here otherwise, it's going to at least be nominally in the MCU. I don't expect a lot of movie crossover other then a few subtle acknowledgements that the events of the movies happened, any actual character crossover will likely be with the other Marvel ABC shows.

Oh shit, Lars from Steven Universe is gonna be Microbe.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Seems like great casting all around.
Milana Vayntrub - Who?
Well, considering she's playing Squirrel Girl, this could be her breakout role, or a career ending one.
...The hell?
Edit: Oh, pagetopper. Neat!
