Ellen scooped up what items she could find on the thugs she searched, and rejoined the rest of the group.

"Oh, don't worry your pretty little head about him," she said to Vella. "His suffering right now is exactly the sort of penance required for making a servant of the Lady scuff up her armor. It may be hard to remember sometimes because this is Golimar, but we are supposed to live in ''civilization'."

The old woman rose suddenly and speaked with an urgent tone.

"Y-you're not doing anything about the safety of my establishment? My safety?" The intricate ruined lock lay at her feet which actually seem to be worth quite a sum compared to everything in this inn, granted most of you have actually seen the rooms.

But before any of you could answer this question, which seems to be an urge the barkeep was waiting to release, you hear the rotten wood cracking more heavily than the usual for this ceiling over your heads, leaving a little cloud of dust fall.

Vella looked up, her eyes widening, upon hearing the creaking of rotten wood and seeing the dust fall from above. "We have to get out of here now, if we don't, the roof is gonna collapse on us!" With that, she took the woman's arm and tried to head down the stairs quickly to get out before the roof caved in, scooping up the runed rock as she did so.

Taking a dash action.

"No wait stop! Leave me! There is movement in the rooms above that's all! Probably packing now that my inn is so open to threats and dangers! You fix that!" The old barkeep tries to resist as she is pulled out of the threshold of the door.

"Because I have to be sure...as you walk out that door, oh, that I no will break...in!"

"Fine, fine... I'll take a look up... And this is a glaive! You know that it's hard to maintain perfect balance and grip while using the swing to transition into a back blow?" says Adelaide as she takes a deep breath and then moves to take a look upstairs.

"Isn't that what they put on cakes?" Ripley asked in confusion as she tagged along with Adelaide. "Speaking of, I could use a rest after this. Calling on my patron's power takes a lot out of me."

"It would be nice to take a short respite, I need to get the scuffs out of my armor. It's positively hideous right now," Ellen added after Ripley spoke. "Speaking of which...."

She stepped over to the downed tough, and firmly placed her foot on his chest, pressing down on it to try and increase his discomfort. "I believe you owe us an apology. Some information would be lovely, as well. It's up to you how much pain the Lady gets sacrificed to her in the process."

Vella blinked, and then let go of the barkeep, wincing a little bit and smiling sheepishly. "Whoops... uh, sorry about that. Uh, I just had... memories... of one unfortunate performance I had a while back," she admitted. She looked at the others, who were suggesting a brief break. "Yeah, uh, I think we might need one of those," she muttered with her smile growing wider and looking even more sheepish.

As Ellen healer hands pulled the unconscious soldier shirt, her trained eyes were quick to notice that he wouldn't be able to talk coherently for maybe five minutes. His moans of pain revealed only a half conscious state of pain and anguish - a great offering for her Lady.

He's certainly stable but needs a medicine check to regain consciousness. Have fun with your sadistic means of waking him

"Yeah. Ceilings that fall. That's Golimar for you, danger at every corner. That's why I need my damn gnomish lock fixed!" the old lady mumbled at Vella.

As Ade and Ripley went upstairs, they managed to see a partially ajar door from which a hooded, gray bearded figured spied them that closed said door as soon as it was realized that it could be detected. Hushed steps could be heard on that room - of certainly more than one individual.

"Don't worry about the door lock, I'm sure someone here is bound to have a Mending cantrip," Ellen said to the barkeep. "Instead I'd worry more about these ruffians plaguing your establishment."

She looked down on the injured man with a grim smile. She went over to the scimitars that the gang had been using earlier, picking all five up, as well as the axe. She then went and stabbed one into the floor next to the man's neck, then placed another on the opposite side so that they formed an "X". He would certainly be in some trouble if he tried to lift his head up. She used another two scimitars to similarly trap his right hand below the wrist, angled so that pulling his hand would drive it into the blade, and the last scimitar and the axe on his left hand.

"Well, I think it's time to wake up now," she said, pressing a hand firmly down on the man's head to try and avoid him jerking awake and slicing his throat. With her other hand, she slapped him on the cheek a few times to see if she could rouse him.

Medicine check to stabilize? Revive?

Medicine check - 1d20+5=9...not enough to wake him up but fortunately the creature was already stable and was going to wake up in 1d4 hours...thing is this slapping made him take damage and start making death saving throws.

Vella watches as the fine features of Ellen turns into a kind of devilish grin as she starts gingerly restraining the remaning soldier. As she finishes seizing the unconscious man...with blades, she slaps him, what unfortunately makes his head tilt to one side and his neck getting cut on one of the swords and a jet of blood starts flying. It seems that, for the first time since the start of the fight, this young coward is at death's door.

First death saving throw - 13.

Vella frowns at Ellen. "What are you doing?!" she asks, pulling the knives out of the way and chanting under her breath. She then moves her hands in the direction of the man, as her hands glow with energy, healing the man's wounds.

Casting healing word on the man.

Uncertain as to how to proceed, Ripley approached the door, extending her hand... and knocked politely. "Excuse me? My companion and I would like to speak with you. May we enter?"

Soldier death saving throw=15.Ellen medicine check with advantage for assisting = 1d20+5=23. Healing word roll= 1d4+3=4. Well...

As Vella was about to spend one of her arcane resources, Ellen's instincts kick in and manage to stabilize the soldier once more with a rag she had nearby and stop the bleeding. At that time Vella's rythmically chanting got to the man's ear...a flash of light under Ellen's rags...and his eyes opened.

"Wha...mama? Oooh..." His vision drifts from Vella and his eyes suddenly open wide as he sees Ellen as her hands leave his recently cured neck wound and he sees his fallen comrades and weapons all around him. "They're bloody, bloody, bloody! Bloody! Oh what you doing - doing to me!" He says as he tries to stand on his feet "Aah, aah aah!"

Ripley's persuasion check: (with disavantage): 9.

A muffled, elderly voice comes from behind the door. The room seemed as it had more movement inside as ever, with shifting furniture and drawers rapidly opening and closing

"You stay the hells away from us, your devil consort! You don't think we could recognize your incantation circles?? Begone with you, we had enough of this gods-forsaken place!!"

"...I think you'd rather talk to Vella. I'll go get her," Ripley replied, turning to head back downstairs.

"Vella!" she called. "We've got an old person who woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and he doesn't want to talk to me."

Vella put a hand to the man's forehead. "Shh, it's gonna be all right. We're not here to hurt you. Now tell me sir, what happened here?" she asked. At that point Ripley burst in and she explained that the man didn't want to talk to her. Vella started to wonder if she was the only one that could make reasonable interactions with people in this little group. She put her hands on her hips, then looked towards the room where the old man was screaming, but not wanting to simply abandon the man in plight. "What did you do?" Vella asked, sounding patiently resigned.

Adelaide's general Cha roll= 3, but perception check =16

"Professor, that hooligan insane glaived female is with her!!"

A younger, muffled voice goes through the door. The old man talked in a lower tone and Adelaide was forced to put her ear on the door to listen:

"Nosak, talk less, pack our bags more! We can't stay here any longer or take any part on this! these people were kidnapped! and you know full well the implications of the questions made by the hybrid blonde fellow!"

"Nothing," Ripley told her innocently, shrinking back a little. "I just knocked on his door and asked if Snowdrift and I could speak with him, because he was acting suspicious and I thought he might know something. Then he called me a devil consort because he doesn't like my magic, and told me to begone, so I came to get you."

Leaning to one side, she took note of the state of the still-living adversary. It was tempting to slay him on the spot... but Ripley doubted her playmate would appreciate that. Besides, the fight was done. No sense trying prolong a party that had already ended.

"In any case, I believe the girl asked you a question," she added to the man on the ground after she left.

"W-what do you want with m-me?"

The quivering man trembles as he struggles to talk.

"W-we were hunting Melnik the Brute and rumours said he was sent here to hopefully never return lest he claimed his title...we went here and layed low for a few days, then your group of girls came by and beat us to a pulp!"

"Sure this Melnik lady is a devil with that glaive..."

Tavern First Floor

"Maybe that will make you all think twice about assaulting a group of women in a tavern," Ellen said to the hooligan. "There are consequences for your actions. You scuffed up my armor, and now it's going to take me quite a bit of time to polish it out."

She glared at him intensely as she thought about her poor armor, once flawless and resplendent, but now utterly ruined with its unfashionably gauche blemishes. "What could possibly have made you want to do this in the first place? Tell me everything you know about Melnik the Brute and what your business is."

Vella frowned. "Well, I don't want to hurt you now. This is a great misunderstanding, sir. I'll make sure Melnik won't hurt you anymore. Now, you need to rest. Here's a few gold to cover the inn fees. Now, I do have a question to ask you, sir. Have you heard anything about some dark elves attacking a half-elf named Daren?" She slipped two gold pieces into his hand, enough to cover a night in the inn, then, patted his hand gently.

She looked up at the commotion going on in the other room, shooting a confused look over at the two girls before looking back at the scared man. Then she looked at Ellen and shrugged a little bit. "Melnik the Brute is Adelaide over there. There's some sort of national dispute between her and the people of this poor man's nation. I'm trying to help quell the tensions and tempers blazing in this inn right now, so let's try not to bring that up any more, okay?" she requested.

Downstairs

"Thanks for returning my gold, I think. Just keep that elf lady down. Please."

He shifted on his position, not entirely comfortable but just barely enough so he could share:

"You don't mean that boyfriend of yours? Well he was here yesterday, came to the counter asking questions in a hurry, talked to these robed types that ran upstairs for a while and then left almost like he had a banshee after him."

"We kinda try to trip him in the way out but boy was he slippery, gave us a finger as he escaped trough our blows. Show-off."

"What, you got drow after you, too? Oh I'm glad I'm not you guys for the first time since I got here."

He gets up and dusts off his half burnt body and clothes.

"Y'know what, fuck this place, I'm gonna head back to my home swamp and marry Raka. Hopefully he won't use me to sweep the floor like you did. Can I go now?"

"Go," Ellen said to the man. "But make sure to tell all of your ruffian former friends exactly what happened today. And let them know that if they cross our paths, or go after Melnik, they'll be killed to a man."
