This trope has long lost any distinction from "Blind Idiot" Translation. The list of Trope Distinctions says the latter is in-universe and the former is for real life examples, but both pages have fictional and real examples. Another distinction I've heard is that "Blind Idiot" Translation still makes some sense but with Translation Train Wreck the meaning is completely lost, but that's just The Same But More Specific if not plain old The Same But More.
