Duplicate Trope? HarmlessSameSexCrush

Just looking through the launches and I went to index Harmless Same Sex Crush. Of course I read through it and was surprised that it didn't make reference to the trope "Romantic" Two-Girl Friendship, which from the description seemed to be very closely related. So I go to edit the trope page (you'll see I added a reference saying that) — only to read at the top of the edit page that most of the examples were mined from RTGF. Of course, I thought they were Suspiciously Similar from the start, so I go to RTGF to compare descriptions and... they're the same, except HSSC includes boys, too. That and a few of the timelines they mention being a couple years off are literally the only distinctions; I honestly think that because of the misuse the trope name for HSSC will attract, it's better to write it into another trope: kids getting weirdly close and parents not feeling threatened because they're very, like elementary school, young and that's what very little kids do to socialise.

But the right place for this would be the YKTTW Crash Rescue thread in Long-Term Projects. Posting this here makes it seem like a backdoor attempt at a TRS thread, which I don't even think is your intention.

Not at all, but there's not all that many tropers in the yk crash rescue that aren't just there to report stuff.

The TLP for this trope pointed out that "Romantic" Two-Girl Friendship has problems and that's why this trope is made.

The thread regarding those problems was made over four years ago, and was closed not long after because the issues had been solved with the current pages ("Romantic" Two-Girl Friendship and Schoolgirl Lesbians), and a yk had been started for Experimented in College. The yk was so backdated, it preceded the launch of EIC and is now just surplus.

And even so, the YKTTW pointed out that "Romantic" Two-Girl Friendship had problems (which it does), but doesn't explain how making a third trope that can be confused for the same thing is supposed to be a fix.

I get the feeling that it was launched irresponsibly by someone who thought that having 5 hats equals launch.

Yeah, we've already been debating the issues with the new trope launch pad a lot. I think that completely against intentions, the new updates make it easier to launch stuff that shouldn't.
