I can't really see the 5 guys fighting the 3 and 4 guys over Goro, unless they insist on killing him unjustly orsomething. Yeah they end up more sympathetic to the guy than you'd expect given all he does, but not to the point where they would let him walk.

In fact they'd probably insist he turn himself in if they ever saw him again.

Definitely looking forward to this game.

Though, being a Christian, I find it weird that the Lucifer and Devil figure in this game (and by extension, the SMT franchise as a whole) are different entities, with the former being the ultimate Summon in this game.

In SMT, Lucifer is the Devil, while Satan is God's attack dog who acts as a judge, much like old Judaic beliefs where he tests humanity while remaining loyal to God.

It's just that in most games that he shows up in, not even his creator is exempt from his judgment.

And originally they weren't even the same being but become one over time. Lucifer likely being the name of a human King.

Man, this all is so confusing to someone who is a Christian like myself.

For more Lucifer and Satan goodness, usually the two don't like each other and stand on opposite sides in the war between Law and Chaos. Yet you also have games like Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, where the Lucifer of that universe is actually one half of Satan, with the other half being his nemesis Merkabah, the Chariot of God.

Too recent. P5 had the perfect opportunity as it used the Devil Survivor/Strange Journey Heavenly Kings Designs as well as the Ose one from SJ.

Well 9s and over and a 94 on Metacritic so overall P5 looks to be winning it with the critics. I can expect the consumer base to be similarly positive.

To be honest the only male character I'd want to date that isn't Potter is Munehisa, but that gets weird because he's also a lot older and has a adopted son Potters age.

So the english version didn't edit the homophobia at all?

People tend to complain if they do, so probably didn't change it.

I mean from what I've heard the dub's not even bad, yet people were freaking out like manchildren when they first heard it.

It can't be helped. The homophobia jokes are something the Eikichi expies always seem to make at some point. Like I recall on one day in P3 Junpei making a Brokeback Mountain Tartarus joke.

That's the thing with purists, we gotta have everything exactly the way it originally was regardless of whether it translates well or not even if woolseyism might make it better.

It's so weird because from what I understand, literally everything else in this game is, like, massively progressive.

Even the gay progressive flip flopped in that you can get a part time job at I think is a Okama Bar and you listen to real life problems normal gay men have.

Then those two show up in the story itself and bleargh over everything.

Another issue that people, at least on r/Megaten, seem to be having is the dialogue, which has a lot of 2010s slang terms (i.e. "D-Bag," "Kek") that people think will massively date the game in a decade or two.

A game from the 2010s whose date is strongly implied to be in the 2010s wow I can't imagine why they'd use slang from the 2010s. Sounds like first world r/megaten problems.

It's quite clear though that Atlus might need some more writers. Some of their guys are new too. The new guys even did a stream for SMTIVA on twitch I believe.
