This seems functionally identical to Murder by Inaction.

Propose we transfer all examples not currently in Murder By Inaction from Let Them Die, and nuke it.

Checked laconics. Only difference is that Murder by Inaction is done on purpose.

Perhaps we do the other way around and merge it into Let Them Die?

Let Them Die involves a decision, so it's "purposeful" as well. Murder by Inaction works much the same way.

I'm also for a merge, but for merging into Murder by Inaction; It's less Stock Phrase-y.

Well, it seems the examples if not the description on Let Them Die focus on the consideration and/or moral question of it (as per the Trope Namer, where Kirk ultimately does help make peace with the Klingons despite his initial reaction) and Murder by Inaction on actually going through with it.

Might still be better served by Tropes Are Flexible, I don't know.

^ In cases where the question "should I let them die?" is asked, that is merely invoking Murder by Inaction, not a trope by itself.

Shall we set up a crowner to determine which page we keep and which one we nuke?

Go right ahead. When it's ready to hook, give the mods a holler.

I thought mods had to be the ones to set up crowners though.

Nope, you're allowed to make them, too. Please read How Crowners Work.

Looks like the merge option is the one users want.

There's not enough votes to call. At the time of this post, at least one more vote will be needed.

so far green lantern comic, batman begins, saving private ryan, breaking bad, mass effect and modern warfare 3 inverloch, song of fire and ice and masques are on murder by inaction. I wasn't sure if star trek VI counted as the trope is considered but doesn't happen. Same with order of the stick and context i think will be needed for the Angel example. Also the justice league example doesn't provide enough context for whether superman refused to help or not. Wasn't sure about dragon bones either

Wicks and examples cleaned, subpages cutlisted, discussion page noted. I'm going to lock this.
