I’m Cail. I’m a classically trained singer. Most of my experience has been in choirs. I sing soprano (My low notes leave much to be desired) I’m a Carnegie Hall veteran as of 2013, where I performed as part of a children’s choir. These days I mostly sing jazz and pop standards (from the 40’s through early 60’s)
I also play the piano. I’m mostly self-taught, and not really that good. :/

I'm Golgothas Arisen, but most call me J. I go by the pseudonym/stage name "Patent" or "Patentworks" for my electronica/hard rock/ambient/post-rock type music, which you can find here or here. I also play the tablah, the acoustic guitar, and the piano (self-taught on all).
So now that I'm done bragging, I would just like to say that I'm glad that this thread exists.

"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"I play guitar. Can play chords and solo blues stuff, but I'm no virtuoso.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I play piano, marimba, dabble in drums and violin, but I ain't no goddess. I'm going to start the guitar soon enough.
I have composed my own electronic music as well as piano music - I can play songs heard once or twice by ear.
I studied music theory for 7 or 8 years as well.

ppppppppfeiufiofuiorjfadkfbnjkdflaosigjbkghuiafjkldjnbaghkdHere have some terrible quality iPhone recordings
I just did this a few minutes ago. A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes My voice cracks pretty bad in the middle :/
And here's some jazz. Why Don't You Do Right? popularized by Jessica Rabbit, but I do the original Peggy Lee version

I used to play clarinet up until mid-2011ish when I quit due to finding it boring. These days, however, I've started playing classical piano (and a tad bit of crappy synthesizer).
I've also been told I have a good singing voice, but I'm a bit skeptical on that front.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.I wish I could practice now. I live in an apartment so I can't practice early in the morning or late at night (i.e. the only free time I have to practice)
I played the recorder very badly in elementary school when I was younger. But now, I just stick to singing.
I’m a woman and am proud to be one!Mostly I write music and then arrange and produce it in a DAW via MIDI scoring or whatever rather than play it conventionally, but I probably qualify. I also sing not too badly, and have limited to reasonable skills in a number of random electric and acoustic instruments: Glockenspiel, recorder, dulcimers, keyboards, et cetera.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Random update: As a premature birthday present, my parents gave me the acoustic guitar we had lying around as well as some new strings to put on it.
Now all I need to do is tune the blasted thing and go look up some tabs to practice.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.I think Adrian would appreciate it if I posted this. He challenged me to do a song by Jefferson Airplane a while back. I really want to record the whole thing eventually
Awesome! Do you play or is this your first guitar?

I really have to get my piano tuned. I am not attempting to tune my upright Wurlitzer (I got it on Craigslist, but let's just say I got it at a vintage piano gallery ) myself. But professional piano tuners are expenssiivvee

I am a cellist.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. Is it an electric piano?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? It's a Wurlitzer spinet piano from circa 1980. It's not electric so it has to be tuned the old fashioned way

It's my first one.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.And I suspect something's wrong with my technique, because I used it for only a few minutes, and my arm already hurts...
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.You have a way to get on Skype? Because I could help you if you need me to.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I know one song on the piano. Does that count for something?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."How often do you guys practice? Right now I'm on the Whenever I Feel Like It lazy person schedule, since I don't really have anything coming up and I'm really busy with other things
I practice music rarely anymore, but when I hear something I like, I'll find the notes on the piano and play it.
ppppppppfeiufiofuiorjfadkfbnjkdflaosigjbkghuiafjkldjnbaghkdI don't practice so much as I just do it all in one go. I'm not one for multiple takes and stuff like that.
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"I don't have anyone yelling at me if I don't practice like I used to. (You did not want to be singled out by the choir director for not knowing your part) I also no longer have people standing next to me on the risers silently judging me. Back when I was a semi-professional I practiced a lot just to avoid embarrassment. I'll get back in the swing of things soon, but right now I'm taking a brief sabbatical from intense practicing.
I play and compose for piano, and used to play cello. I'm taking piano lessons to make sure I don't get on that Lazy and Whenever I Feel Like It Schedule. :p
Periodically I'll post something I've written, since nobody on any of the other damn threads on this forum ever actually responds.
-taps baton on music stand-
Hello and welcome to Musician Tropers Coven. I hope you all grabbed your sheet music on the way in. This thread is for any troper who’s into making music, regardless of instrument of choice or skill level. We can swap ideas, get critiques, get peer-pressured into sticking to our practice schedules, and complain about our stand partners who don’t seem to understand the concept of “correct pitch.”
Okay, from the top!
