London Street

Well would you look at that.

It appeared that fate had decided to reward Rito's efforts to look for a way to get around the Blighters instead of simply rushing in and trying to kill them all. While the rest of the group was being rushed by a carriage driven by a particularly reckless man, she was already crossing the street once again, some distance ahead from the one gang member that was fleeing the fight.

She decided to tweak her plan slightly and, instead of running to meet the fleeing Blighter once she reached the other side, she opted to run in the opposite direction, further away from the fight. After all, she was going significantly slower than the fleeing man, so he'd hopefully try to run past her in a few seconds. Reaching forward to his neck and choking him into unconsciousness shouldn't be too difficult.

Or strangling him to death. That would work too.

Briefing Room

The Handler turned to the latecomer, and while his face was unreadable due to being invisible ,his posture made it clear he was unhappy.

"Agent, you are late. Very late. Let me give you the cliffnotes. Your team has been assigned to locate an artifact on a version of 19th century century earth, one that has the potential to shift the balance of power in a shadow war in the universe and cause its destruction. I am busy monitoring the mission, so you will need to ask your new teammates for specifics."

A portal appeared next to The Handler.

"A few of your teammates are in a local pub collecting information. I suggest you join them posthaste. And take one of these." He handed Reaver a button. "It will magically disguise you as one of the locals. Use of supernatural powers will drop this effect, so be warned before you do anything to stand out."

London Streets

The wagon, as expected, flipped over, the driver on top being crushed in the process in a horrific scream. The fleeing man, meanwhile, was caught completely off guard by Rito, and was unable to get out of the hold, although this did not prevent him from trying to struggle.

"Get off me, you bloody wench!"

Another yell signaled more Blighters coming down the street, this time on foot, as the blighters that had been inside the carriage began to craw out of it, stunned. Before anyone else could act, however, the world exploded into smoke around the agents as a smoke grenade went off. Rita and her captive, however, were far enough away that they were not within the blast radius. A scream ran out unseen nearby as one man was stabbed unseen, then a gunshot rang out a second later.

"Down the alley!" A female voice yelled over the sounds of combat. "Now!"

"I can confirm the newcomer has killed the last of the initial group. You are clear to retreat." The Handler said to the agents.

London Pub

"Ah, Mr Frye will be out to fight next in fact." The man running the fighting ring said as the fight behind him concluded, and the blood was quickly moped up. "Let's see....Mr Maximal? You are up, it appears you will be taking on the young Mr Frye next."

Street Brawl

As Gaichû lunged at Seija, her aura grew brighter for a split-second. He knew well what that signified: it was the unmistakable sight of a mage drawing upon their power to cast a spell.

Even as he realized this, he felt—and heard—the spell’s effects. The carriage flipping over with a crunch of bone and a stifled scream; the confusion of those inside it as they suddenly found themselves upside down; the reek of equine fear as the horses pulling the wagon panicked.

An effective attack, but highly conspicuous. Already he could hear more of them rushing down the street, see their auras charging towards the group—

And then the smoke grenade went off.

To a ghoul like Gaichû, the smoke cloud was only partially effective. The billowing smoke cast a veil over his astral sight, blocking out the auras of the confused Blighters, but he could still hear and smell them. And he heard the stabbing and gunshot which followed, along with an unknown voice’s shouted command.

Grimacing, Gaichû knelt and picked up Seija in a fireman’s carry. The girl was lucky he had taken his suppressants before the briefing, or else she would have been at risk of infection. Then he was off, moving through the smoke in the direction of the woman’s voice. His footsteps echoed off the alley walls, guiding him on.

He thought back to the details of their mission briefing. He suspected he knew who the owner of that voice was…

Roman gritted his teeth, feigning annoyance as if he recalled a bad memory

"Business deal gone wrong, and let's just keep it at that. Needless to say, both the Rooks and I are not looking forward to seeing each other again. Well...that's why I'm asking your group. We both share a common enemy don't we? We both want to see the Rooks be dealt a devastating blow, revenge, superiority...I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about."

He looked around at each Blighter as he talked, hoping that this would make him seem more believable and relateable.

"So you see, we both stand to gain from helping each other. I have some friends in very high places...reputable contacts who will leave any mention of foul play away from certain figures who would investigate the matter. If there's one thing I can promise, it's that they will get the job done. But, as I said, I'll need some information from you all. Plant the lure, and they'll come running, right into the trap."

He was lying through his teeth, but he didn't care. He had no qualms with pulling the wool over eyes.

"Now now, that's no way of talking to a young beautiful lady such as myself," Rito retorted to the Blighter, playfully poking his cheek with her finger. "Specially not to one who can do something like this~!"

In a mere moment, the playful poking stopped, replaced with a strong grip on the gang member's face, and pull came to shove. More specifically, she stopped pulling him towards herself, and instead shoved his head straight into a wall, with so much force that it could potentially leave a crack on it. However, she did not have time to double check whether or not that had killed the Blighter, so she instead simply opted to throw him to the floor and stomp on his head on her way to meet with the rest of her team at the alleyway.
