I wonder if the two OV As coming can fix this for an S2 or is the series doomed.
Looks like the mangaka didn't like the ending as well, and said so on Tumblr◊, BUT it looks like some party is doing some belated damage control, as said entry was deleted barely an hour later.
Doesn't matter even if they delete his name from the show's wiki page; his name is still in the credits◊. That's how I found out who did it.
I also found his facebook page. Didn't notice any flaming going on though; maybe he's deleting them or something.
@Flowing Cotton: From what I saw on 2ch, people are mostly just going "That's not what happened in the source material. This is what happened..." and "lol bad end lol".

Give the God Eater game thread some love!..........
Usually, I'm highly tolerant of anime-original content, but this is one of those rare instances where I can't let it slide.
Seriously, what the hell was that!? Machi's supposed to be growing as a character(no matter how long it takes), not be traumatized to the point of regressing! Did the screenwriter have some grudge or something? Pathetic.

I know right? It'd have been okay even if they went Status Quo Is God, because it's a comedy and comedies usually don't have much plot advancement if at all. But this is Machi taking one step forward and about a hundred million steps back, and that is NOT okay.

Give the God Eater game thread some love! You know something is really wrong when Kumamiko is the controversial show of the season.
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueIt all comes◊ TUMBLING DOWN TUMBLING DOWN TUMBLING DOOOWWWN
Fight for something, even if its meaningless. That is what exactly?
Ratings maybe? Like perhaps the percentage of people rating the episode from 1 to 5, with 1 being the best rating? And the bottom row being the average.

Give the God Eater game thread some love!Nico ratings, I believe. Note the extreme drop between Episodes 11 and 12. It's actually amazing how hard this show managed to crash and burn so hard, especially when shows of its genre are really damn hard to screw up.

Fight for something, even if its meaningless.Mm...yeah...bad end indeed. What a twist!...?
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.And considering that the production team seems to be in hiding or something, they may or may not have screwed the anime up on purpose. =.=
Give the God Eater game thread some love! With 2 OV As on the way I dont know on that. I hope they are too busy scrambling to make them more in line with the manga.
Once the Japanese fans is out for blood they usually mean it. Poor screenwriter'll have to find a new pen name, at the very least.
