This is something that never fails to amuse me. XD

Every actor will inevitably have to star in a bad movie. However, some realize that they are in a bad movie, and as a result, ham it up to no ends, which, unsurprisingly, makes them the most memorable part of the film, for better or worse. I want to know which performances of this kind you enjoyed the most. evil grin

I'll start with the undeserved Razzie winning performance by Eddie Redmayne as Balem in Jupiter Ascending:

Seriously, he was like, the only cast member who seemed to realize how poor the movie was, and gave the appropriate performance. That's far from Razzie worthy, considering how entertaining he is in the film. tongue

From one of my all-time favorites, Royalton in Speed Racer is deliciously hammy.

Make mine Marvel.

Ham acting is an art, and I will defend it to the death.

Aside from such masters of ham as Tod Slaughter and Vincent Price, one of the greatest ham actors who ever lived was Hans Conried. You may remember him as Captain Hook in the Disney Peter Pan or Snidely Whiplash from Dudley Do Right.

Here he is in a musical number from the excellent film The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T, where he gets to show off his ham abilities and sing a little as well:

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."

[up]x5 No, I don't think Speed Racer is a bad film. It's one of my all-time favorite movies. Definitely in the top 5, and probably in the top 3.

Make mine Marvel.

Richard E. Grant and Sandra Bernhard as Darwin and Minerva Mayflower in Hudson Hawk. "History! Tradition! Culture! Are not concepts! These are trophies I keep in my den as PAPERWEIGHTS!"

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."

I'm amused because when I saw the title literally the first thing I thought was Eddie Redmayne in Jupiter Ascending.

Indeed. I absolutely loved the scenes in which he was on camera. Whether for good or bad reasons I don't really know. tongue

Heck, he said this in regards to his performance in the film:

"We did the scene and Lana [Wachowski] instantly started throwing this really bold directorial. ‘Play it like an accountant’ was one of them. I was like, I have no idea what to do with that but it’s the most genius direction I’ve ever had! It threw me in all kinds of different directions and I left having no idea what I had just done. All I knew was that I didn't just do boring Redmayne acting."

Sounds like he had a ball performing as Balem. [lol]
