I'm interested! Expect a sign-up sheet soon.
It's here! Gimme a while and I'll have a White Mage sign-up.
What's the appearance of a Shade like? Think I'll be going as plain Human, but I'm curious.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobShades are perfectly humanoid like all the other races. But are in fact just pitch black bodies with glowing eyes, eye colour varies of course.
Should I use fantasy-style names or are you totally fine with a guy named something like Jerry?
Aerith and Bob is totally fine.
Are we restricted to those races only? Or can we make write-in races? I'm fine either way. Just curious, because half tempted to make a catperson thief. At the moment though, I'm trying to decide between Technomage, Black Belt, or Engineer.
Click Click Boom BoomRestricted to those races. Hadn't planned for any others really.
- Name: Caelan Pinelash
- Class: White Mage
- Age/Race/Gender: 27, Human, Male
- Appearance: Replace the suit with your typical White Mage cloak.◊
- Personality: A very kind(-looking) and benevolent(-seeming) man, as is fitting for a White Mage. He'll always have a skip in his step as he ventures through the wastelands of the damned. He'll always have a smile on his face when he tells his fellow adventurers that he'd rather feed himself to a rampaging Cerberus than waste one more heal on their mangled bodies. There've been complaints but there's not much you can do with just the spoken word, and White Mages are in such high demand that he's often too valuable to cut loose. For all his griping he will do his job efficiently, so long as you don't manage to legitimately piss him off.
- Backstory:
- When Caelan was ten he was locked in the cellar for a week to purge his soul of demonic intent. This set a precedent for the rest of his messed-up childhood, and by the time his cultish family of Mages was done with him he'd become the complete dick of a White Mage that he is today. But his soul's clean, and he has great manners, and he's even been able to cling on to his free will, so overall he's considered a great success.
- Armed with his sparkling new hatred of everything, Caelan was quick to join the Mage's Guild and get with adventuring as far away from his family as possible. He still kept the family name, because a prestige title has its perks, but make no mistake- he'd have burned the manor down if it weren't for that pesky White Mage's Oath they had him swear to.
- Starting Items:
- Wooden Rod - A stick the same size as Caelan. Unlike most sticks, this one can augment his magical abilities.
- Copper Armlet - Worn around his upper left arm. Useless against physical attacks, but offers some protection against magic.
- Ribbon - White fabric worn around his head. Pretty much the same as his armlet.
- Light Chainmail - Worn under his White Mage cloak. Easy to move in, but offers less defence than most other armour.
- Leather Boots - Sturdy. Gets the job done. Quite well worn.
- Miscellaneous - One Bag of Holding, a few potions for healing wounds and status effects, food and drink to last one person several days, a small amount of currency, and the pre-acquired knowledge of how to cast Cure, Dia, Blindna, Protection, and Silence*
- Trivia/Notes: N/A I think.
Alright. Calean is perfectly good. Welcome to the Team.
Name: Adrian Kjalhem
Class: Engineer
Age/Race/Gender: 21, Shade, Male
Appearance: He is of average height and weight. He wears a black hoodie, striped pants, and tie-less shoes. It's... kind of hard to describe what a Shade looks like.
Personality: Adrian is, needless to say as an Engineer, intelligent. While he believes the world is naturally shitty, he is still otherwise optimistic about it. Woe to those who do anything stupid in front of him. He enjoys using a device to emulate the feel and taste of various foods and drinks
Backstory: A young shade of an upper-middle class, happy upbringing who has always had a knack for machinery and magitech, Adrian doesn't really have much of a history. He is just a usual renegade college student, and has occasionally gotten involved in activist activity, taking advantage of his lack of features and skin. Again, he doesn't have much of a history - nothing really important has happened to him up to this point.
Starting Items: His Turret and Shotgun.
A self-driving car.
A cell phone.
A laptop.
For some reason, a device allowing his bodiless form to emulate the taste of various foods, mostly different brands of soft drink.
Trivia/Notes: Anything you feel the GM should know?
A self driving car seems a bit much for starting tools. And Shades have a body, they can look like almost humanoid, only like a Pitch Black shadow version.
Formally expressing interest. I'm still working out things before I join, but for now, know that I'm interested in playing as a Shade Red Mage guy, who does kinda a little bit of "subclassing" into Black Belt just to use fists instead of swords. I have reasons. And I kinda talked this out with Silence already so I have confirmation that much is OK.
I admit I'm tempted to join.
I was thinking of a Noble Demon Black Mage. Someone who says and believes they're evil due to thinking Evil Is Cool but they're really not evil. They see legitimate evil as "unstylish" and is overall just mischievous, aiming for annoyance rather than suffering.
Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.Aw man, I wanted to be a Black Mage. Ah, well, I can come up with something else.
off the shitsWell, you can if the idea goes south plus I'm not sure I'll sign up anyways.
Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.Do Technomages channel through only weapons or through other items as well?
Their casting tools aren't technically weapons. But are just called that because how else do you refer to someone who has a tool that shoots lighting to hurt people.
Plus I don't mind multiple character classes so long as it isn't a entire team of one class.

- Name: Garma Sicamour
- Class: Thief
- Age/Race/Gender: 27/Human/Male
- Appearance: Garma is a tall, slender man in a nice black suit with slicked back black hair and a goatee. One must keep up appearances after all.
- Personality: At first glance, Garma appears to be a charming gentleman. On the surface, he is polite, witty, well-mannered, and can seem like the nicest and most pleasant man you'll ever meet. Of course, once you actually spend 5 minutes with him, you quickly find out that he's a self-serving douchbag who'd gleefuly rob from his own mother if he had one. He also has the occasionally spontaneous need to commit arson, and on top of that, he at times just can't help himself from attempting to steal gold and other various goodies that he comes across, which isn't much of a suprise considering his line of work.
- Backstory: Garma was born in the town of Slummin in the nation of Hella. You'd think that would tell one all they needed to know, but if you ever wanted a more detailed description of his 'glorious' expolits, then here you are. Garma grew up in a town in which living conditions were so abominable that everyone ended up being self-serving a-holes who were in it only for themselves. Needless to say, Garma didn't fall very from the tree. That said, just because you're an a-hole doesn't mean you can't be a charming a-hole, or a talented one. Orphaned at a young age, he found himself in the services of Sir Chancy Throttlebottom the Fourth as he called himself; a very old, very skilled, and very sophisticated thief who
needed someone to clean up his pigsty of a housewas looking for a worthy apprentice to carry on his work. After years of heavy practice in both the art of thieving as well as waxing on and off, he waskicked out after having long outstayed his welcomeready to venture out and find his own place in the world, whatever or wherever that may be.- And so he attempted to do this for many years, yet all he succeeded in seemed to be kicking multiple metaphorical (and literal,) puppies, as well as just barely escaping from a number of guards with his pilfered plunder. Thieving was the easy part, but getting away with it was the harder task. In the end, he decided to try his hand at proper adventuring, and to do so, he'd need to join a proper adventuring team! Maybe then, he would truly find his place in the world. (And get someone to watch his back after a heist while he was at it...)
- Starting Items: A silver dagger, 10 lockpicks, a bottle of liquor, a gold pocketwatch, a handkerchief, flash powder, and 5 throwing knives.

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundEverything about him made me want to smile and laugh. Kkhohoho, welcome to the team!
Thanks!
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundCan't wait to see how these characters change over the course of the story.
Name:Areius Crono
Class:Techhomage
Age/Race/Gender: 19/Human/Male
Appearance:5'8, short straight hair,no facial hair. Wears a bright red robe and a tattered tunic and tight pants(not that you can see the tunic and pants). Black eyes and a sort of big buff build.
Personality: Always looks sad, but to those who know him, he's just quiet. Will never stray away from a objective unless absolutely necessary. Doesn't take very well to humor. Very prideful. Angers easily.
Backstory: Born to a rich family, he was able to attend a magical school through his child and adolescent life to learn the arcane. He specialized in conjuring weapons and creatures/beings. He was born with a natural ability for magic potential, but he can't channel it through his body naturally. At the school, he learned to channel it through a item he picked that got imbued by the school. He was able channel through the item which was a short, thin quartz crystal which he found in a cave. He and the school soon realized that this wasn't a normal crystal. Apparently, a mage was dying in the cave and imbued his soul in the crystals. He went back to the cave and got a few more. The school said that to fully unlock his magical potential, he had to mix his and the mages power into the crystals. So he took a crystal, inserted into into a crown where the gem used to be, and magically fused the crown to his head. He started to wander the lands at 18 to find ways to increase his power.
Items: The quartz crown, which he can channel his powers through.
His red robe which slightly protects against magic and is layered with steel plates inside it.
5 of the half unlocked crystals for backup if his other breaks.
Hope that wasn't too big.

It seems fine. I do take some issue with the stabbing himself for power, seems a bit much. Perhaps adjust your character. This is meant to be a parody but this seems a bit much.
But largely it seems fine.

It seems like ya'll are in need of a TRUE HERO! Edit: Heard from Silence that a few things were iffy with my signup, so edited the backstory some. I think I prefer this revised version, anyway
- Name: Twill “Sunset Shadow” Eyt.
- Class: Red Mage (with a bit of Black Belt training)
- Age/Race/Gender: 27/Shade/Male
- Appearance: Clad in red and white cloth garments of garish style, the Sunset Shadow proudly stands out before his enemies, like a true avatar of 5’11” leanly built justice! He especially prizes his feathered cap, the red bandana tied around the lower half of his face, and his fantastically flowing crimson cape! Despite how he cherishes this attire, he gladly reveals his pitch black claws (at least when not equipped with fist weapons for battle) and upper half of his darkened face with his glowy yellow eyes, constantly reminding that even a creature of darkness needn’t forsake the light!
- Clothing kinda like this, excluding where contradicted above: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/3/3c/FFE_Blue_Mage.png/revision/latest?cb=20141225110033
- Personality: If the above flavor text didn’t tip ya off, he’s more or less an OVER THE TOP HERO of JUSTICE and STYLISHNESS and EXPLOSIONS. Oh, no explosions, you say? THERE WILL BE
- Backstory: Growing up in a slummy city, the sheltered Twill was oblivious to a lot of dangerous stuff going on in his neighborhood during his childhood… that is, until the day his parents barely escaped murder, at the age of 7. His innocence shattered, he slowly became aware of the crimes and injustices of the world, lawful and chaotic alike. As he grew older and became more aware of modern news, it struck him as odd that crime was so common when it mostly hurts people. He inquired about this, only to be answered with “We just can’t deal with it all” or “That’s just the way it is” or some similarly unsatisfying answer.
- Eventually, the young Shade refused to remain quiet and reserved any longer. Undertaking intense physical and magical training with the aid of his Black Belt father and a crash course in Red Magicks from his mother, he dedicated himself to becoming strong enough to speak out against these injustices, with his own hands. Literally. Through punching and/or spellcasting.
- Some call him a vigilante. Some call him a hero. Most call him a brazen fool with terribly gaudy fashion sense. But Twill…? He calls himself the Sunset Shadow.
- Starting Items:
- Leather Knuckles (Basic Knuckle weapons)
- Cotton Robe (Basic defensive body gear for mages)
- Feathered Cap (Somewhat less basic defensive headgear for mages)
- 2 Potions (Basic health recovery items)
- 1 Ether (Basic mana recovery items)
- A seemingly infinite supply of roses
- Knowledge of casting the following spells:
- Fire (Basic fire damage)
- Poisona (The one that heals poison, not cause it)
- Woosh (Basic wind damage)
- Bang (Basic EXPLODING earth damage)
- Trivia/Notes: He might learn a liiiiitle bit of Black Belt-ish techniques at the expense of some Red Mage/Wizard mastery, but for the most part the only purpose of “subclassing” in that job is to replace the Red Mage’s swordplay with fist weapons. Also/alternatively, methinks that using Magic Knight/Spell Fencer-esque Sword Magic with his knuckles would be a cool idea, IF possible, since I don’t see any other class that would support that ability, but that’s just me.

Welcome to Grand Fantasy, a love letter to Final Fantasy and Fantasy RPGs in general, plus a little inspiration from Eight Bit Theater, where you form a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits on a quest to save the world from the machinations of the overlord known as Vex, and his loyal army on their quest to gain the power of the ultimate evil. Sound like a typical RPG adventure? Good!
You got a lot of classes to chose from and all classes eventually upgrade into a more powerful form. So feel free to pick and choose which one you feel fits your character best.
The setting is Modern Fantasy. There exist large cities across the world but for the most part it's mostly green and small towns with varying views, like Final Fantasy VII.
