[up]Josie and the Pussycats are going to be in it.

I would assume it would use the full Archieverse. I know they mentioned having an Afterlife with Archie episode each season.

Those would make good Halloween episodes.

Looks like they mashed a bunch of angsty teen drama tropes into a blender.

Darker and Edgier. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the characters turned out to be a vampire, of the Twilight genre.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!

Yeah... Weren't the Archie Mysteries fairly light hearted???

To be fair, while it looks like cliché dark angst, this could work if they keep in mind what makes Archie itself work - a healthy degree of self awareness of how textbook and cliche it's tropes are.

@ Post 25

Wendy and Casper are owned by Harvey Comics, not Archie. So not likely they'd be showing up in any capacity.

Looks like a coed version of Pretty Little Liars

The leaked pilot script showed as much.

I don't really know how to feel about this. Having recently read the 2015 reboot comic (which I found quite adorable) this isn't exactly what I would have expected from a live-action adaptation of Archie. It looks unnecessarily dark, even more so than the Vampire Diaries. Heck, early Teen Wolf was more lighthearted than this is appearing to be.

But who knows? It's Archie. Maybe they'll switch up the genre each season like they do in the comics. If done well, it would make for a really creative show with a good-sized fanbase.

But one thing, is the main lead's hair really that complexion? Because it's...bothering me for some reason.

[up]Agreed. I think it has to do with just how pale he is compared to just how red the hair contrasts. I think its also because the red hair isn't natural and is probably dyed, resulting in an off color.

I want Sabrina to show up, and one of her aunts to be played Melissa Joan Hart.

Well ... least some effort was made here.

Normally no one gives a shit about keeping red heads read headed.

But then the problem becomes the fact that its dark hair dyed to a lighter color. Not to mention that red hair can be a real bastard to get the color you're looking for in, the hair looks too bright to me and ends up distracting compared to the otherwise somber colors of the shot.

If it had the lighting or color scheme of Pretty Little Liars, then this might work as PLL worked with mostly fall browns, oranges, reds, and greens. Riverdale feels very faded and washed out in the trailers.

Man, if I diidn't know what I was watching, I'd say someone is trying to make a new teenage vampire series I really hope they start using better lighting.

What's up with the terrible lighting as a "style" choice, anyway? It's ruined any number of shows. Sometimes it works, but.. going by the numbers, not the way to bet, because I can think of 3-4 examples where it just makes things completely impossible to follow for every one where it adds mood.

My sole hope for this show is that they make the inevitable love triangle actually triangular.

I mean, betty/archie/veronica is the ur-trope of the love triangles, make it interesting! Either outright poly, or everyone is indecisive about which of the options they want.

There is a kissing scene between Betty and Veronica but it's engineered by Veronica to give them a boost in cheerleader tryouts.

I saw that. And that's what inspired that particular vainglorious hope - Vainglorious because I think it unlikely indeed the people behind this are anywhere near as tired as I am of seeing 2 people fight over the same love interest.

If Betty and Veronica were into each other, that'd just add fuel to the folks who want to see Archie, Betty, and Veronica in a threesome.

It's always a question of how intense they intend to make the triangle. Archie and Veronica have traditionally been shown to date other people (unless it's an older story where Veronica is a possessive harpy), and even Betty's been shown to date someone other than Archie on occasion.
