So they got dinosaur media'd?
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Basically
Watch SymphogearThe company that bought them out a year ago(in a package with the Escapist and others)told them they were fired like 5 hours ago. They didn't want to invest any money into GT despite all the guys ideas for how to reinvent the site and focus more on youtube because they didn't buy the package they came with for them. The team knew they were probably going to be fired before the end of the year but they expected more than a "You don't need to come in tomorrow. Goodbye" phone call at the end of a normal work day as a notice.
One of the guys is on his honeymoon, christ...
There isn't a group that can take their place as the best E3/Gamescom/TGS/etc streamers. Their reactions and moments are legendary.

Wow.
Admittedly, it's been a long time since I've been to Gametrailers, but that's still hard to hear.
It's always weird when a place I've known for a long time goes away. Same with a show, or the death of an actor or something like that.
So long GT. Thanks for all the fish.
One Strip! One Strip!A pity nobody tried to figure out a way to keep Game Trailers relevant, but I guess proliferation of high-speed internet and Youtube getting HD streaming capabilities truly made them irrelevant.
I remember first discovering their site when I was trying to look up a newly released teaser trailer that was exclusively in HD on their site for Metal Gear Solid 4. Took me almost 30 mins to download the trailer since i was still running on a 56k modem at the time, and the whole time I was soaking up the bits as they slowly loaded in... only for the download to suddenly crap out a little over halfway through.
Damn shame what happened. I really hope the crew can go on to do other things together, since they all had real personality, great chemistry, and nice variety of opinion and insight.
Damn. I just started subbing to them too after seeing their FF 7 R reaction. Loved that crew. Hope they all get picked up by another company.
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...I don't hope that, because the same thing will just happen again.
This kinda sucks.
Damn. I remember quite a few good videos from them:
- Top 10 Mario Kart Tracks
- Top 10 Star Wars games
- Top 10 Worst Movie-based games
- Top 10 Best/Worst games
- Top 10 Gaming years
A victim of the times. We simply didn't need them anymore thanks to youtube and the like.
I think we always need competition.
There's plenty left. Gametrailers failed to keep up with them.
I've always heard of them, but never checked them out. What a wasted opportunity.
You Can't Give It Up!! [[Phash Slash 1001@gmail.com]] http://corecrush112.tumblr.comIf it's of any solace to you guys, the former GT Editor in Chief set up this site some months ago that covers some interesting gaming-related stuff.
Totalbiscuit talks about the demise of Gametrailers.
TLDW: Big company, too many shows, too much overhead, defeated by individuals and small groups that are content creators on youtube. Thinks that hosts may be able to continue their shows elsewhere, but face competition in a saturated market.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!iots also a cautionary tale about allowing yourself to be bought by big corporate media. They dont give two shits about you, and never will.
Gametrailers are dead. Long live Gametrailers

"After 13 years, Game Trailers is closing down today. When Game Trailers was founded in 2002, internet video was a revolutionary concept. You Tube wouldn’t be founded for another three years; consumer live streaming was nine years away. Back then, online game journalism was still dominated by text articles and static imagery. The most prestigious coverage still happened in print. If you wanted to watch a show about video games, you had to watch it on a special TV station that had 10 shows. Game Trailers helped change all that. Today, game journalism is dominated by video: trailers, live gameplay, Let’s Plays, and news shows. Now there are millions of hours of content available at any time on your PC, your game console, your TV, and your phone. We’re proud we helped bring this world into being. That is the legacy of Game Trailers. We're grateful to all of our fans who helped make us successful. Thank you for your continued support over the years. It has been an adventure."
