Writing Interspecies Romances

So I have an idea for an Interspecies Romance between a human male and an Anthro woman. (I'll say Wolfess for the rest of the story) But the thing is while this isn't anything new, I don't know many stories where they don't just glance it over and actually address the issue. Ok, there is the Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast, but Ariel and the Beast became human at the end of the story, and in Beast's case, he was a human first, then a beast, then human again. Most stories I know just have the characters accepting it, like it's normal. It's like a white person falling in love with a black person these days, there's no harm unless somebody's a racist dick.

I'd want to write a story where the human and wolfess debate whether or not it's right for a different species to fall in love with each other. On the one hand, yeah society is a bitch (figuratively), and it keeps people apart for their own selfish needs. But on the other hand, the Wolfess acts like a kind human, in fact maybe even more human than humans with no sense of compassion or sympathy.

Check out the webcomic Freefall. One of the main characters is an anthro wolf, and there's a lot of What Measure Is a Non-Human? as she begins a relationship with her veterinarian.
