Yeah, I was also expecting this to be a more melancholic story, but this really just fun series.
This isn't the first time that the tone had to be changed for a VN adaptation though.
Man this show makes me want to get the game.
Episode 4 was another good one with some very nice character development for Arisaka. I am a little concerned that everyone is improving a little too fast but I suppose that is only to be expected for, what I am assuming is, a 12/13 episode series.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellUsually the curve for improvement is much faster at lower skill, and it's only when you get to the top is starts to flatten out. It depends a lot on what kind of sport it is, naturally, but if it's something you can get by on with natural talent and some basic instructions and not suck too bad, you can get fairly high up on the skill curve relative quickly.
Check out my fanfiction!I knew this episode was coming, since Arisaka felt bit left out in previous episodes. Everything moves at pleasant relaxing peace.
Seems like next episode we'll get a first full official match.
Yeah, she did have a rather obviously inefficient flutterby-like flight style.
Check out my fanfiction!New ep. It's nothing if not predictable.
Check out my fanfiction!I don't know about that, the idiot President got a couple of points when I was expecting him to not get any. Other than that it was a little predictable, although still entertaining.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellHe didn't get a couple of points. He got one point.
Check out my fanfiction!Still more than I thought he would get.

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellWell, the results were pretty much what I expected. Saki seems the one to watch out for, she crushed the president with easy. Poor Mashiro, she trained so hard but she didn't make it. I'm just surprised Misaki won, she seems way to good for a first time player. Did she used to play in the past?
Wasn't it said somewhere that she used to be good, or something like that?
Check out my fanfiction!I though it was Hinata.
I think Madoka mentioned it while trying to recruit her.
Check out my fanfiction!Oh yeah, there was something about that. Wonder why she stopped.
Probably the same reason as the other one. A Dark and Troubled Past. It usually is. Even if it's really only wangsty.
Check out my fanfiction! She doesn't seem to be angsty, and didn't have a problem with going back either.
It was so dark and troubled she's forced it out of her mind and forgotten about it?
Check out my fanfiction!Last ep was slightly less predictable than the previous.
Check out my fanfiction!Everyone is so surprised that Japan top player is actually really skilled.
So Asuka is actually a genius at flying circus. I also laughed when she started spamming Flying kick to get points like a super move in fighting game.
Misaki started getting really full of herself this episode, but got slapped by reality for it. Not only Shindou didn't go all out on her, but he did on Asuka. Ouch.
From the preview I get a feeling that Shindou will get worfed by Saki.
Episode 7:
This episode deals with Informed Wrongness at it's finest. Outmaneuvering your opponent until they have to give up chasing you is a perfectly valid tactic, but Aoi talk about it as if it was goddamn necromancy ("dealing with the forbidden"? Seriously?), and comes off as total drama queen. I'm with Asuka on this - Saki was incredible, and what she did was not only very effective but a pleasure to watch as well. FC might have to evolve because of it, but I don't think it'll lose it's value as a spectator sport.
Misaki really comes off as a whiny baby here. She though she was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and after witnessing how many people are much better than her she just sulks and gives up. Pathetic.
I dunno - when you thought you made the reigning champion of a sport struggle, and then they immediately show that, not only was she not taken seriously, there was someone that could outplay even him, I can definitely see how that can be immensely discouraging.
Still, that 'forbidden technique' stuff was so overly-dramatic. Even Yugioh characters would tell Aoi to tone it down, it's just a game.
A sports anime about flying tag. Pretty entertaining. Talk away!
