I'm tempted to say the part from Spaceballs was cheating, but they chose the right passage for it.

He does say in the Annotated version that he felt using more than 1 scene from either Spaceballs or Eragon would be cheating, but especially considering which clip was used, (as it almost goes against the other clips establishing the menacing masked villain) I think it was fair enough.

A (relatively) short video by Kyle Kallgren that aims to show how Star Wars is so influenced by tropes of the past, (especially The Hero's Journey) and has so influenced works since that you can tell the entire story of Star Wars: A New Hope without ever using a single second of Star Wars footage or music.
Well, it turns out that he's right, and that it's pretty awesome. Check it out for yourself.
