Would you say this game is better on Switch or PC? I'd lean more toward PC due to the mods. Is multiplayer between different platforms possible?

Well, there's nothing like being able to play such an addictive game on the go, so the Switch has that in its favor.

Yeah, released first on the Switch version. Should be patched in to the other versions pretty soon.

[up]Judging by the wording of this news post, the PC version will get multiplayer first, Switch second.

Whoops, my bad, haven't been following the news (or playing the Switch version). Yeah that looks like next year then. Funny, the Switch version was supposed to release with multiplayer as a USP.

Wait, where IS the multiplayer option on Switch?

Edit: I've been had by faulty reports and comments.

Double-post.

So I got super-lucky on run #3 and got three sets of Ancient Fruit seeds, one via the mines, one via fishing treasure chest, and one from the traveling cart lady. I kind of messed it up, since I accidentally destroyed one of them when trying to grow them in a basic sprinkler set.

Still, I'll be able to reap the reward in the fall, and will be sure as hell to save at least one specimen for the seed maker.

I bought this over Christmas Steam Sales and after the initial slow grind in Year 1 setting up my infrastructure Year 2 is a snowball of income trickling in from my kegs and stills. Jam/Wine and Coffee is the way to go, the former for profits and the latter for winning the friendship of the town's adults with my endless supply of java to compel them and propel me :V

Farming + Combat is a familiar thing since I played a lot of Rune Factory on my DS back in the day so I know what's up. Now I need more Iridium to max out my equipment and build the good stuff.

Iridium can be got in the deeper levels of Skull Cave, or by completing all bundles and feeding a diamond to gramps grave. He gives you a cat talisman that gives you three-seven ores every day.

every day.

In the end, the difficult thing to keep up with is battery packs.

I built a lot of lightning rods to catch bolts, shouldn't have a problem with that.

I had a problem where each storm would only activate one lightning rod. I think you may have to space them a certain way in order to increase yield.

Also, if you're hurting for Iridium, I'd advise not wasting any on Iridium Sprinklers. They're awesome, but once you have access to the sewer, you can buy one for 10,000 coin every Friday.

Yeah, I bought most of mine from Krobus.

Reason I need Iridium is mainly for my tools which have all been gold-plated already.

My farm is actually kind of terrible for farming. I have a great big pond smack in the middle of my property. I have no open space, and monsters come to eat my face in the night. So mostly, I've just been growing Ancient Fruit in my greenhouse, tree fruit west of the central lake, a coop to the north, barns to the south, and huge stacks of beehouses to the East. I love beehouses because they produce items for no labor at next to no cost. Items I can turn into sweet sweet mead.

Why the hell did I choose monster farm?! If I had wanted monsters, I could have asked the altar in the witch's hut! I didn't know about this until I discovered it...

I went with the Forest Farm for easy daily hardwood and foraging. Split my farm, east and south sides for crops with the coop between and the barn at the northwest next to the Greenhouse, plus lots of grass on the west half for hay gathering with ease.

And I have like 30+ battery packs from Summer Year 2 alone, even having sold a few of them to afford Rare Seed investments and infrastructure upgrades and giving a few to Maru for friendship props. Thunderstorms be prolific yo.

Forest and Regular farm types are undeniably the easiest to handle. I haven't tried the Mining farm, and I sure as hell won't ever touch the River and Monster farms.

My views on the different plots:

Standard: No real advantages, no real disadvantages, just tons of land. Great for mass growing crops, flexible for just about anything else. Aesthetically, the ugliest farm plot (understandable, since it was designed before the others and never touched up on). Also, you will probably have to build multiple wells.

Forest: Easiest for completing the community center bundles, by far. An ideal fit for heavy animal farming (as in, multiple barns/coops), due to a good amount of land space and easy hardwood access. Least amount of growing space, so mass crop growth is not recommended. Also, you can get the woodskip early. One key side effect of all this is making the iron axe not as high a priority, allowing you save iron for upgrading other tools while it's still limited.

Hilltop: With reliable (if limited) access to geodes and ore, makes completing the museum collection a little easier, and lessens needs for trips to the mines. Access to mountain fish can save you a bit of time, although this is a minor benefit. Limited land space and pathing make moving around inefficient, so planning out your farm and automatizing a good part of what you do is a priority (as in, getting good sprinklers ASAP).

River: Unless you count saving you having to go to town for certain types of fish as an "advantage", this plot has NO advantages. Plus, it has even worse issues with pathing than the hilltop plot does, and mostly the same land limitations. And that's not getting into the water "eating" your crop and forage products. Basically, this is Hard Mode for Stardew Valley. (At least it's pretty...)

Wildlands: The monsters are a minor hassle at night, so scheduling around doing the majority of outdoors work during the day is very helpful. Outside of that, it's basically a tweaked version of the standard farm, trading less land for easier access to water via the central lake (no need for multiple wells) and better fishing (also based on the mountain lake). note

The monsters level up with your weapon.

The fishing is garbage, I have literally only ever pulled rubbish from fishing it.

And when you visit the witch, she has literally nothing to offer you.

With the other farms, you can choose to turn monsters on and get the monster parts delivered to you. With Monster farm, you get NO advantages, you get reduced land from the massive lake in the middle and the awkward shape makes automating the farming really hard. I would go back and choose literally any other farm.

This is exactly why my first farm was a Regular Farm. I like to learn the basics before I start throwing curve balls into the mix.
