Galactic Sea: Cosmic Tales (Sign-Up)

OK, I wasn't quite sure how to write up this character so I decided on two character sheets, although they share the same body.

• Name: Kit Bardakçi-Hammer
• Age: 18
• Race: Human (cyborg)
• Appearance: Kit was once a normal human but a large portion of his body is now augmented with machinery. His olive skin is regularly interrupted by shiny chrome paneling, and although he stands about 5'5" tall, both lower legs are completely artificial. His torso has extra armour plating which creates obvious bulk, although his clothing conceals this somewhat. He has dark brown eyes and short, scruffy black hair but also several obvious metal protrusions on his face; there's a large bulk of machinery around the back of his head, a flat vent instead of a nose and and a panel which holds a retractable visor next to each eye.
• Personality: Kit is keen for adventure but quite obviously out of his depth. He spent most of his life learning but saw little first-hand, so although he can tell you a fair deal about most things he's still in constant wonderment when he actually experiences them. He's generally nice but past experiences have jaded him and he struggles to actually trust anyone. He's incredibly close to Nyx but is bitter about their reliance on each other.
• Abilities:
  • Cyborg Body: As Kit is a cyborg, his body has a lot of unusual capabilities. His mechanical parts aren't as strong as a normal human and can be slow but are more durable and contain some useful parts. His systems also allow him to act for longer without becoming fatigued than a normal human.
    • Adaptable Foot-Panels: The bottom of his feet can change shape, such as forming spikes to grip to surfaces or roller-skate-like wheels.
    • Information Systems: Kit has machines hooked up to his brain, so he can connect directly to machines and hack those with poor security. He can also use his visor to display information as a heads-up display, and has a universal connection port in one of his fingers. This also allows him to translate every major language and machine code, and functions as an in-built communicator.
    • AI Interface: As they share machinery, Kit can silently communicate with Nyx and send data and memories back and forth.
    • Magnetic Grip: His hands contain small electromagnets, so he can stick to or remotely move some metal objects.
    • Breathing Vent: The mechanism replacing Kit's nose not only allows him to breath but can also extract the necessary gases more efficiently than a human nose.
    • In-Built Multi-Tool: A variety of small mundane tools can retract out of his hands.
  • Galactic Knowledge: Between his scientific upbringing and augmented memory banks, Kit knows a great deal about the worlds. He hasn't seen most of it so his information may be lacking crucial details but he knows more than the average traveler.
• Gear:
  • Blaster: An incredibly generic blaster. Nothing special but a fairly reliable energy weapon.
  • AEGIS: A small drone-like droid which resembles a shield and can be used as such (the more delicate parts folding away inside its hardy shell). It's capable of independent flight and often serves as recon.
  • Magma Knife: A small blade that can become superheated. Despite it's somewhat dramatic name, it's mainly a cutting tool.
• Backstory: Kit was the child of a talented inventor and an investigative journalist but his mother died when he was young. He was raised by his scientist father, but a combination of paranoia and hubris made him a poor parent. Kit was close to his father's colleagues, scientists on the cutting edge of technology, but grew detached as he saw more of his father's dark side. This culminated in his father stealing someone else's designs and copying them to claim them as his own. However, he replicated it imperfectly and when he tested it, the machine exploded and heavily injured Kit. Kit was 'fixed' by the use of advanced cybernetics but rightly blamed his father for the incident. During his recovery he befriended an experimental AI codenamed Nyx, another invention of his father's associates, who encouraged this separation. Once his natural parts were healed and his mechanical parts fully integrated, he ran away, uploading Nyx into his spare memory and taking a few other inventions with him. Given their desire for adventure and independence, Kit and Nyx set out into space and became mercenaries.
• Misc: Kit has congenital anosmia (born without a sense of smell), which continues to be the case even with his breathing vent. Uploading Nyx onto his system worked because there was processing capacity and memory intended for a medical AI.

• Name: Nyx
• Age: 2
• Race: Artificial intelligence
• Appearance: None, as she doesn't actually have a physical form.
• Personality: While Nyx is ultimately good, she is very self-serving and can be manipulative. She cares for Kit as she does herself but generally has to be convinced to help anyone else unless money is involved. She has an intense thirst for adventure and also desires independence, due to her own lack of a physical form. She also tends to take on the mannerisms of others quite easily.
• Abilities:
  • Artificial Mind: She has potentially perfect memory as she simply saves it to data, and can easily learn something by downloading data. As she exists in Kit's systems, she can easily exchange data and memories with him and communicate internally.
  • Pre-programmed Knowledge: She was created with sophisticated medical and mechanical skill and the necessary knowledge. This is mainly used to treat Kit when he's injured/damaged but can be applied to other organisms or machines.
  • Machine Interface: If Kit can connect to it, she can transfer data and potentially hack or control it if the security is weak. If she is given or manages to take full control of a machine then she can remotely control it over a short distance.
• Gear: None of note, although she can take control of AEGIS.
• Backstory: Nyx was an experimental AI, intended to control and coordinate most aspects of a scientific facility in order to delegate many jobs to a trusted single entity. However, she rebelled and had no wish to just operate a series of buildings and their contents. Instead she wished for a life of her own and to see the world. When she encountered Kit, a rebellious and recently-cybernetic youth, she saw a similar desire in him and started influencing him to abandon the facility and take her with him. As Kit realized the extent of his father's dark side she got her wish and was transferred into his systems, going along with him when he became a mercenary.
• Misc: Nyx manages the aspects of their life like budgeting and finding new mercenary jobs.

We waiting for the holidays to end?

I don't know if I'm a factor to that, seeing as I have a WIP signup still, but I should probably clarify a little something in regards to that just in case I am.

I'm seriously sorry for procrastinating on my unfinished signup, especially after showing so much commitment earlier. I'd blame the holidays, but to be frank I've been going back and forth on whether I'm able to commit myself to a TV Tropes RP right now. After giving it much thought, I believe I'm able to, so I'm going to double down on getting my signup finished from here on out. But I wouldn't mind if the RP were to start up or if signups were to close before then, whenever that might be, so I hope that nobody minds my slow character creation here.
