"Legends. Stories scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts, of a forgotten past."

"Man, born from dust, was strong, wise, and resourceful, but he was born into an unforgiving world. An inevitable darkness - creatures of destruction; the creatures of Grimm - set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed, and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void."

"However, even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change, and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named Dust."

"Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness, and in the shadow's absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life."

"But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die, and when they are gone... darkness will return."

"So you may prepare your guardians, build your monuments to a so-called 'free world', but take heed... there will be no victory in strength."

Time to explore the past of Remnant, for real this time.

In the time before the Great War, before the great Huntsman Academies were established, Hunters are merely graduates of the combat schools that had existed before and gone out into the world, seeking their fortune and glory against the darkness within and without from their kingdoms. Some may choose to be agents of the kingdoms, or whoever they feel like aligning themselves with for whatever reason.

And now, times are beginning to change. They say smoke rises unlike any seen before in Mantle to the north, and strange machines are beginning to appear, changing the lives of those who use them, for purposes both mundane and extraordinary.

But forget all that, the princess is getting married! And she's invited adventurers like her husband-to-be to gather in Vale for the event. But most shockingly, she's opened attendance to both ceremony and reception to anyone who wants to come, even Faunus. Oh, how scandalous!

So our story begins on the day before this new wedding, where shadows loom on the horizon...

And now, the character sheets:

  • Birthday: Refer to the calendar for equivalent months.
  • Race:
  • Kingdom: What kingdom your character was born in. Typically the same as one's Alignment. Also possible to not be born in a kingdom.
  • Alignment: If your character is politically aligned to one of the four kingdoms, state so here.
  • Appearance:
  • Weapons and Equipment: This is almost 200 years in the past, so you won’t be able to make things like Ruby’s Crescent Rose. Weapons like Weiss’ Myrtenaster and Jaune’s Crocea Mors are totally viable in this setting, of course, and steampunk tech is acceptable from Vale or Mantle (Atlas) citizens. Firearms haven’t been invented yet, as Dust, arrows/bolts, cannons/mortars, and throwing weapons/war machines have so far proved sufficient for ranged warfare, but their emergence will occur in this RP.

Tempestas is back once more.

  • Name: Tempestas Booker Aurion
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 21
  • Birthday: Ignis 15th (Note: May or may not be his actual birthday. He considers it that because it's the day he was taken in by Miles.)
  • Race: Human
  • Kingdom: Mantle
  • Alignment: The Kingdom of Mantle
  • Appearance: The Steaming Swordsman. Although it is not shown well by the picture, he is actually quite muscular in appearance, and also has various scars along his arms (some received during his days on the streets, others gained because of accidents that happened in his mentor Miles' workshop). He also has a thick brown leather coat lined with fur that he usually wears when he's in the colder climate of his home kingdom of Mantle. He stands at about 6 ft tall, and weighs about 150lbs.
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Sol Divider: A pair of custom made twin swords, each with a built-in miniature dust-powered steam engine that's designed to superheat the blades for more power. They can also combine into a double-ended staff by simply putting the bottoms of the blades' hilts together and twisting. Both were designed by Tempestas himself to serve as his personal weapon.
    • Goggles: Tempestas' goggles are specifically designed to offer him clear vision through large amounts of smoke and steam, and he wears them over his eyes when either in a fight, or when forging new weapons.
  • Semblance: Lockdown: Tempestas can use his Aura to temporarily envelop himself in a completely invulnerable barrier that covers his entire body. However, he cannot move at all while this is in use, and it only lasts for no more than 10 seconds at a time. Repeated use of this Semblance in quick succession will eat away at his Aura very rapidly, so he must be careful. His eyes glow a fiery orange when it is in use.
  • Personality: Tempestas is the type of guy who always plays by the rules, and is humble to a fault. He is a hardworking young man who believes that the idea of strength in numbers is the key to success against the Grimm, and expects no less than 100% percent effort from other fellow adventurers. Despite his rather muscular build, he's a very intelligent and learned person, and is a genius inventor who specializes in crafting Dust-powered weaponry. When he's not hunting Grimm, training himself, or making weapons or other tools, he can usually be found reading a book of some kind in his downtime. He's a nice and respectful fellow to most people that he meets, though he does feel that women and Faunus do not belong on a man's battlefield. Although he does have the best intentions in his views, he can come off as somewhat insensitive at times.
  • Bio:
    • Tempestas has had it rough for most of his life. He was left abandoned on the streets by his parents for unknown reasons when he was young, and was found and raised by a man named Matthias, who taught to scavenge and steal on the streets for most of his childhood. He knew next to nothing of his birth parents before they left him, and didn't even know his birth name or surname. The only thing he had from them was a gold pocketwatch with the word "Tempestas" engraved on it that he's had all his life, and Matthias decided to name him that as a result. Matthias unfortunately passed away when Tempestas was 5, however, leaving him all alone on the streets of Mantle. He was a strong young boy, but it seemed like he was going to live this miserable, empty lifestyle until the day he died.
    • That all changed when he was found and taken in by a humble and esteemed inventor named Miles DeWitt when he was 9. While most other people would have seen Tempestas as a worthless street rat, Miles saw potential in this young boy and decided to teach him how to be an upstanding, kind, and intelligent member of society. Tempestas owed Miles his life, and he gladly served as the inventor's apprentice for 9 years, learning how to be just as skilled as his master. He even took on the surname Aurion (meaning sunrise or tomorrow) to symbolize that this apprenticeship for Miles was a new beginning for him. He eventually learned how to craft his own Dust-powered weaponry, and soon gained a desire to be an adventurer to test his mettle against the Grimm. With Miles' reluctant permission, he learned to do just that, and eagerly does his job to aid in the defense of his kingdom and share his creations with all he meets. When he heard of how adventurers of all kinds were invited to this wedding, he gracefully accepted on behalf of his friend/rival Wayne Eisenmann, but he has no idea of the dark machinations that loom in the shadows...

  • Name: Angela Muninn
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 21
  • Birthday: Umbra 31st
  • Race: Human
  • Kingdom: Vale.
  • Alignment: "Maniacs are trying to kill all of you!"
  • Appearance: Essentially
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Tailwind: A slender and elegant straightsword with a gem shaped like a bird's eye adorning the pummel. She tends to wield this blade with a reverse grip.
    • Falling feathers: A seemingly endless supply of throwing knives concealed about her person. Each one's hilt is wrapped in fire-dust infused paper instead of leather allowing her to prime them to explode with some aura.
  • Semblance: The sound of her wings: Allows Angela to form bird-like wings out of her aura, which glow slightly with a dark purple light, all physics that would apply to normal wings still apply to them though they are slightly tougher than normal wings due to their energy construct nature.
  • Personality: Aloof and terse but down-to-earth and realistic. She is very polite to those she meets. Angela is also cunning and more than willing to deceive.
  • History: Angela was raised from birth to be an assassin to a mysterious group known as the Grimoir. She killed for the first time when she was ten years old. Angela was the most successful candidate of the group's indoctrination program and highly skilled. That all changed the day the Grimoir sent her to kill a child. She couldn't do it and returned home in shame. Angela's punishment was to have her memory taken through a mysterious ritual and banished. However during the ritual her semblance activated for the first time and she was able to escape. When she lost the hunters sent after her she realized that while all personal memories were intact she lacked the large majority of her training by Grimoir. Angela escaped and has been in hiding succesffuly for many years though she has had difficulty recovering her skills from Grimoir, even after additional training. She has since gotten in contact with Ragnelle, the bastard princess multiple times in an attempt to warn the Royal family about her former organization on the sly as well as attempting to procure treatment

The PC

  • Name: Ragnelle Silvaria "Elle" Vale
  • Gender: Female (Not that she's happy about it.)
  • Age: 21
  • Birthday: Cor 14
  • Race: Human
  • Affiliation: Kingdom of Vale
  • Appearance: In a rare happy mood.
  • Weapon and Equipment:
    • Who needs weapons? An accomplished user of Dustcraft, Elle has woven most of her supply into her silver hooded cloak. The cloak itself is long enough to cover most of her body, a silver and gold affair of excellent workmanship. Thr gold lining glows when she casts. She also wears two metal gloves containing cartridges of even more dust.
    • She is armed with the basic types of Elemental Dust: Fire, Water, Ice, Wind, Earth, Lightning.
    • She is also armed with mixes of her own creation. Paralysis Dust does what you'd think it does. Darkness Dust causes temporary blindness. Corrosive Dust lets loose an acidic subtance. Finally, Venom Dust poisons enemies.
    • While her cloak is woven with the Elemental Dust types, she can only carry up to two types of her special mixture at a time with her gauntlets.
    • She also has the knowledge to directly infuse herself with Dust, but that's for desperate situations.
  • Semblance: Aether: Elle's Semblance is tied to her eyes. She can take someone or something in her immediate visual range and warp them to somewhere also in her immediate visual range. This is Aura extensive, and Elle can only warp one target at a time. She cannot use Aether if she cannot see or her vision is otherwise obscured.
  • Personality: Outspoken. Hotheaded. Brash. Foul-mouthed. Reckless. Cocky. Tactless. This is the first impression that Princess Ragnelle (Don't call her that!) gives off. She seems like an arrogant fool, but Elle is a mess of complexes. As a bastard child, and furthermore as a female bastard child who wants to become a Hunter, Ragnelle always feels the need to show her strength. To prove her worth. To show that she is not a worthless waste of space. To validate her existence. She must never show weakness, never be anything less than the best at what she does. Ragnelle resents the fact that she was born a girl and thus buries anything she feels feminine. A sure way to incite her rage is to call her "girl" or "woman" or "princess" and especially "witch". As someone who lives with discrimination every day of her life, Ragnelle has no patience for it and will often get into fights with those who think themselves above others. As someone who has lived her life shunned, Ragnelle is ever loyal and ever protective of the very few who accepts her. Beneath her facade is a fragile and tender heart.
  • Bio: Born to the previous king of Vale, Mordred II, and a peasant woman, Ragnelle Silvaria Vale was a mistake. An unwanted child shuffled around because no one wanted her. Her one friend and ally was her older half-sister Arturia. Her brother Galatine despised her and thought of her a disgrace. She was sent to convent of Gaia, but that didn't end well. She was sent to a Ladies Academy in Mantle, and was expelled for delinquency. It was at this time that Ragnelle started to learn the ways of Dustcraft and the path of a Hunter. Having no other place to toss her to, Galatine let his sister go out adventuring, but still continued to try to marry her off. All attempts thus far has ended in failure (and lots of flames). Recently, Elle has heard about her sister's upcoming wedding to some Mantle asshole. She was, of course, outraged.

The Bride

  • Name: Arturia Saphira Vale
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 23
  • Birthday: Crystallum 25 (Midwinter)
  • Affiliation: Kingdom of Vale
  • Appearance: Melancholy Angel
  • Weapons and Equipment: Arturia is a pacifist and thus carries no weapons, not even for self-defense. What she always carries instead are a pen and something to write on, her sewing kit, and her beloved pet cat Nika.
  • Semblance: Sanctuary: Even though she carries no weapons, her brother Galatine had demanded that she at least awaken her Aura, so she wouldn't seem completely suicidal. Arturia's Semblance manifests as the ability to create a small haven, about six feet wide, protected by walls of Aura. Anyone inside the haven will have their natural healing accelerated greatly. Arturia can only keep the haven up for a maximum of five minutes if she's the only one inside. Additional people cut the maximum time by 30 seconds per person.
  • Personality: Arturia is kind, softspoken and gentle. Elegant and poised, she is the very picture of a proper lady. She is an idealist, not to mention naive. However, Arturia lacks initiative. She's a doormat who simply obeys her brother's commands. She feels obedience is a lady's virtue. The elder princess is a pacifist by nature and abhors violence. She does not discriminate against the Faunus, being too sheltered to see the bigotry in the outside world. Opening her wedding to everyone is but an example of her being naive (Galatine let it be to make her happy). She can also be quite judgemental of other's behavior and is a mistress of polite passive-aggressiveness.
  • Bio: Arturia Saphira Vale is the second child of Mordred II, the younger full sister of Galatine V, and Ragnelle's beloved older sister and best friend. Her childhood was spent secluded in the Royal Palace, where she spent most of her time in the library. Arturia's passion was writing, and she honed herself at that without tiring. She loved her father and brother dearly and was overjoyed to find that she had a younger sister as well. At the age of fourteen, she was sent to a Lady's Academy in Mantle (She loved that kingdom.) Sheltered and naive, Arturia did not find anything wrong with her arranged marriage...

  • Name: Arrluk Bracatus
  • Sex: M
  • Age: 19
  • Birthday: The Winter. No calendars to judge the date, you see.
  • Race: Narwhal Faunus
  • Kingdom: Mantle
  • Alignment: His village
  • Appearance: Dressed in the traditional clothing of his home, Arrluk is stocky and built well for the cold, regardless of the actual weather around him. He has dark, ruddy skin, and a very round face with a small nose and small eyes. His hair is straight and black, pulled into a rough bun in the back. He has a spiraling horn coming out of his head, decorated with intricate geometric designs.
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Arrluk wields a highly variable cane-staff that he found washed up on the ice. While normally about three feet in length, it can extend to up to six feet or contract to a single foot. The multiple lengths of the shaft can also fold in on themselves when enough force is input, storing energy as it compresses into an M shape until Arrluk hits a switch near the head, releasing all that stored energy in a single piercing strike capable of blasting houses down. The head can also be loaded with explosive shells to turn these piston strikes into mortar shots. Or still fired from close range, I guess, if you're dumb. He finally did name his weapon Cane after the absolute uproar that he caused by not naming it. He also has a gauntlet to snap Cane onto, if he wants to switch it up some more.
  • Semblance: Friction. Arrluk can lessen or outright negate the effects of friction on his body.
  • Personality: Arrluk is glad to be out of ready to fight and off a damn leash. He's a fan of the freelance model that Huntsmen get. He thinks that a pretty big portion of Hunter Culture doesn't actually get real hardship, and that as a result they also don't get real enjoyment from life. Arrluk feels intense fury and violence towards those who would hurt others, but also can throw himself into something enjoyable in a way that few people can. He's very honest about how he's feeling at any time, basically. Wanting to ward off stereotypes about both Faunus and rural types in general, he speaks precisely, clearly, and unaccented.
  • History: Arrluk grew up on the frozen glaciers of Mantle's outskirts, a cold and desperate place where fishermen fight off aquatic Grimm and bandits when they aren't looking for more fish to catch. When he found Cane when he was 10 or 12 or whatever, it was just another boon, at first. The Grimm would die more easily with his help. Thing was that the Grimm started getting nastier and nastier as Arrluk's weapon started clearing out the Grimm more effectively. The village elders knew that the Grimm were smart, and that they knew about Arrluk and his weapon. Arrluk was sent to learn how to fight in temporary exile, to return once he was a real Hunter, to guard the village against any threats they might face. He wandered Mantle, from master to master, and from there wandered into the arms of a few different mercenary companies. It was in these groups that he clashed with Wayne over various contracts, going one-for-one on competitive contracting. Not having a permanent address, Arrluk essentially walked into the wedding, intent on celebrating with someone he at least sort of knew.

Sir Vladimir's sheet is ready!

  • Name: Vladimir Renfield Krigsvart (nee Corundum)
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 20
  • Birthday: Cor 2
  • Race: Bat Faunus (notable features: Bat wings, pointy ears, sharp canines)
  • Kingdom: Vale
  • Appearance: If strength is justice, then is powerlessness a crime?
  • Weapon: Impaler, a chained spear. Typically in the form of a simple spear, Vlad can cause the shaft to shorten by twisting the base, exposing the chain connecting it to the spearhead in the process. In this form, Vlad can wield it as a chainscythe
  • Semblance: Rune - The creation of simple symbols in the air or on a surface using Vlad's aura. He can use them to fire a chaotic burst of raw energy out from them, and flavor them with his dust as he wishes. He is impervious to the damage caused by his own runes and can use them to propel himself if he so desires.
  • Personality: Among the nobles, Vladimir is considered eccentric. He smiles but doesn’t talk much to the others, his journal is filled with large-scale plans to change Vale for the better of all, and (gasp!) he actually gets mad when people put down Faunus. And the matter of him going by a common-sounding name of Krigsvart rather than his proper noble name of Corundum. He’s not afraid of getting his hands dirty, but only to take down evil men — any attempt to make him end an innocent life will force him to freeze up. He doesn’t want to be what his grandfather wanted of him: a mindless weapon offing any and all who stand in his way
  • History:
    • Many of the residents of Naudhiz have heard the story of Vladimir Renfield Krigsvart — Sickly grandson of Lord Corundum, who after his grandfather’s sudden death from a mysterious illness, made a new life for himself, and eventually founded the village where one’s value is placed on inner and outer strength. Unfortunately, several details of this story is rather false, and were based on rumors spread about after his death. The fact of the matter was that Vlad was rather healthy — a rather healthy bat faunus.
    • Lord Corundum, furious that his beloved daughter died giving birth to such a mongrel, took one of his servants, an assassin that had worked for him in order to pay off her family’s debts, and traversed to a small vacation home far away from Vale. There, he forced the assassin to raise Vladimir to be a heartless killer, with plans to use the boy to off any person who got in his way. The assassin, not wanting Vladimir to end up like her, went behind the noble’s back several times to try to give the boy something resembling a normal childhood — reading stories to him at bedtimes, letting the boy go out to play under the pretense of “outdoor survival training,” and so forth.
    • When Vladimir was fifteen, though, assassin was caught in the “act” of not teaching her charge how to kill people by Lord Corundum, and Vladimir was told to kill her. Furious, he proceeded to kill his grandfather instead, and buried him not too far from the house. Donning a cape to hide his bat wings, he returned with the assassin to his ancestral home and took on the role of head of the family, thinking that he could change Remnant for the better while holding a spot in the council.
    • That optimism quickly dried up. With the exception of Princess Ragnelle, who Vladimir quickly became friends with, the young Faunus found the entire ruling class of Remnant to be corrupt. He was particularly furious with the council, who only seemed to care about their own asses and were quick to brush off Vlad as a weirdo brat who could simply be ignored. Finding himself frustrated with his inability to do anything through the council, Vlad took matters into his own hands, becoming a Huntsman and working to defend the people. However, he also began doing a rather unpleasant business of offing corrupt criminals who constantly slipped away from the courthouse without punishment. He keeps the latter matter a secret... for now.

  • Name: Yukimura Yuzuki (幸村 優月)
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: 20
  • Birthday: Crystallum 8th
  • Race: Fox Faunus
  • Kingdom: Vacuo
  • Alignment: Merc, work history is heavily biased twords Mantle however.
  • Appearance: Unlike Grim, no change
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Dynamo: Prehapse the only reason Yuzuki has gotten as far as she has in the world is her unique creation, something that is out there for even most inventors, a machine capable of being a proxy warrior, which she has named "Dynamo", Dynamo is a hulking steam powered monstrosity controlled via the careful manipulation of internal lightning dust, precise activation of which opens valves and allows pneumatic pressure from the behemoths boilers to create movement among its limbs. While not overly fast or agile, this has created a rather strong metal wall she can place between herself and an opponent.
    • Tanto: Yuzuki also posses several tanto on her person which she uses for self defence, while she is capable in there use, they have not been named as she does not seek to fight with them and will only use them when pushed herself.
  • Semblance: Yuzuki's semblance "Meld" allows her to fuse metal objects to herself, either on ther surface level, or absorbing them into her body and preventing there rejection, a second activation of the semblence can be later used to expel said objects, while a rather "niche" semblance in this time frame, it has allowed her to armour herself under her skin.
  • Personality: For the most part meek and unassuming, Yuzuki prefers to work on her machines more then she does to bother people, however, she does stand up for herself when looking for employment, mostly a necicity given her inherent "disadvantages"
  • History: (Uhhhh can I flesh this out in the RP I would rather do that then here)

  • Name: Sanfar Onyx Wylde

  • Gender: Girl

  • Age: 25

  • Birthday: Crystallum 30th

  • Race: Human

  • Kingdom: Mistral

  • Appearance:

  • Weapons And Equipment: In addition to her suit of armor, which she almost never takes off, even during relaxation periods, she wields a large black metal sword by the name of Tenebrae. The sword is able to expand its width and reveal the shadowy core inside, making the rest of the sword glow a strange purple/light blue, as if veins were spreading throughout it.

    • Secret of Tenebrae: The sword, when expanded like this, draws in Sanfar's aura and condenses it into the core, as it is synced to her mind and body. With her will, she can fire the condensed aura out as a beam or explosive sphere, causing a large amount of damage to whatever it hits.

  • Semblance: Dreadknight - The source of Sanfar's moniker. The Wylde can feed off the negative emotions of those around her, empowering herself with their dread, fear, etc. She can assume a hulking, monstrous form if she consumes enough, growing nearly twice her size. This drains her aura even faster however.

  • Personality: Sanfar is a woman who enjoys the simple things in life. Good food. Good Drink. And especially a good fight, having devoted herself to being a true warrior in all aspects both on and off the field, as her clan wanted of her. On the field, she is a monster like she strives to be, a true terror to her enemies. Off of it, however, she is jovial and even quite friendly when she feels the need, thinking that life is too short to be dour all the time.

  • History: A young warrior from the forests of Mistral, descended from a long line of warriors who grew up in the countryside of Mistral. The Wylde's...they have a reputation for being more monstrous than "human", at least in the areas around where she grew up. They are seen as monsters in human skin when it comes to fighting, possessing a superb fighting instinct that is seemingly passed down and improved with every generation.

    • Sanfar herself has made a name over the years as the "Dreadknight." Wandering the land in search of battles to fight and be employed for. In the past, she worked for Ragnelle briefly, doing myriad jobs under her orders. For what it was worth, Sanfar enjoyed being under her employ, as there was no shortage of enemies to fight.

  • Name: Ahyan Shahrazad
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 22
  • Birthday: Felicitas 23
  • Race: Human
  • Kingdom: Vacuo
  • Alignment: Vacuo / Vale
  • Appearance: The beard’s started to grow in now
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Alf Layla: Ahyan's sword. It is a "Damascus"-steel curved sword, encasing a core of miniature ice dust crystals. This gives it a passive effect of being icy (which helps when you live in the Vacuonese deserts). If aura is channeled into the sword, the cold output is increased. It makes a gentle "tinkling" when it moves. It is a prime example of the Mashuuq school of sword making.
    • Wa Layla: Ahyan’s lantern shield. It is equipped on his left arm. Within the hollow section of the lantern shield is a large fire dust crystal that has been tooled so that it provides a “slow consistent burn” when activated. This provides light while also igniting a trail of flame along the edges of Wa Layla’s blades.
  • Semblance: Hamza: Ahyan can bring his hands up to an item in order to slowly "improve it". This is only a slight improvement in most cases, but when applied to people it actually heals them. Hamza's effects can also be "flavored" by "consuming" dust. If Ahyan is in contact with dust or near enough to a dust source (I.E., the crystals in his sword), he can use some of it to influence how Hamza works. This section will be updated as Ahyan is exposed to more dust types.
    • Fire: Causes something's improvement to sway toward "quantity of output". As a side effect, the outer-most parts of a semblance-applied object will glow a faint orange.
    • Earth: Causes something's improvement to sway toward "defense". As a side effect, the semblance-applied object will lose some of its color and darken.
    • Ice: Causes something's improvement to sway toward "sharpness and quality". As a side effect, the object's entire appearance will become slightly shinier but also paler.
    • Air: Causes something's improvement to sway toward "efficiency and speed". As a side effect, looser parts of an object will glow a faint green and float slightly in the air.
    • Lightning: Causes something's improvement to sway towards "intensity". As a side effect, purple arcs of "fake" electricity will spark up from time to time on an object.
    • Water: Causes something's improvement to sway towards "flexibility". As a side effect, an object will turn slightly blue around the edges and gently release steam.
  • Personality: Ahyan is in love with stories. He loves telling then, hearing them, reading them, writing them or anything else he could possibly do with them. He staunchly believes that a person only dies if they are forgotten, and so he plans to "live forever". He is only afraid of dying unknown, and not of death itself. Otherwise he is a rather content person, albeit a bit difficult to get accustomed to.
  • History:
    • Ahyan is from the southeastern parts of Vacuo. Southeastern Vacuo is mostly desert; here, water sources are worth more than any amount of gold. His family are hardy folk, each capable of combating the countless Grimm that infest the sands. His family members are the swordmakers of Dastan-Amir, the city Ahyan calls home. His sword, Alf Layla, is one of few the Shahrazad family makes for their own. His shield, Wa Layla, is of his own similar design.
    • Ahyan grew up hearing stories of Vacuonese heroes and adored every second of it. The countless tales of hunters (and the occasional huntress) inspired him to seek his own path to legend. Because of this, he has spent the last few years hunting Grimm as a freelance hunter and has ended up in Vale. In doing that, he has become “acquainted” with the bastard child of the Valoran Royal Family, Ragnelle. Basically put, they had become friends in Vale, went on a joint mission in Vacuo, had to “warm themselves up” during the cold desert night, then split since it became awkward. This wedding will be the first time seeing each other since. He's coming both to see her again and on official Valoran hunter's guild business.
    • Ultimately, he seeks to either become an author or a historian, but that's only after he retires from hunting.

  • Name: Benedict Remington
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 30
  • Birthday: 18th of Ignis
  • Race: Human
  • Kingdom: Vale
  • Alignment: Whoever needs help.
  • Appearance: "Successor of Fate" playing in the background.
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • The Book of Ardor - an eldritch grimoire found within long-forgotten ruins in perfect condition despite time eating away at everything else. Upon its pages, seemingly woven from Dust itself, are tons upon tons of incantations and rituals that, combined with Benedict's own knack for Dustcraft, throw what uneducated would describe as "magic" almost freely. All he has to do is to open its pages, shout out the incantation and course the Dust channeled in the grimoire itself to let it work.
    • Candafell - a leather whip with a steel tip and Benedict's weapon of choice. Can also be used for transportation, to reach oddly-placed objects, disarm people of their belongings and what not. Reinforced with Power Dust, it can also be used as a catalyst for his Dustcraft although it doesn't work quite as well as The Book.
    • Sympegar - a shortsword that once belonged to Castor Remington of yore (although frankly it was more of a knife to the latter), reinforced with ancient Dust recipes to make it a weapon that's strictly to kill Grimm. Against men and Fauni it's an ordinary weapon, but against these beasts of darkness it reliably melts them away with just a couple of strikes.
  • Semblance - Dust Search - Benedict can feel out and identify any traces of Dust left around. To that end he can also gather them with a force of will, empowering either himself or one of his catalysts.
  • Personality: Benedict judges, yes, but he judges based on one's ability to do their calling: if he sees a Huntsman, he will want to gauge their ability to fight off Grimm and protect the innocent; if they're a chef, he will gauge their ability to procure a splendid meal and so on and forth. Gender, race or nationality are secondary matters to him and frankly they might not have existed in the first place. This often puts him at odds with more traditionally inclined peers, but frankly, he couldn't care less for their opinion on the subject (unless they question the authenticity of whatever he has found, that will anger him swiftly). A kind and approachable individual, Benedict nonetheless finds little subjects to talk to others about: it's either Dust, history or archeology. He's kind of awkward with everything else. Dislikes rudeness and spites heinous deeds.
  • Bio: It is said that a Remington born with silver or white hair is destined to greatness. Such was the case with everyone before Benedict Remington, an amateur adventurer and archeologist. Born in Vale he was an intelligent and observant child, one that seemed more inclined to become a scholar rather than a Huntsman material. True to form, while he doesn't fit an archetype of a Huntsman, having no particularly impressive weapon, he more than qualifies when it comes to his desire to help the common man. To that, however, adds his own, more selfish wish: to discover and preservere bits and pieces of ancient history found in ruins and caves, so that his and subsequent generations can know how the past looked like. He walks briskly where the bravest fear to thread, not at all phased by Grimm, insane cults or things even more ominous, things beyond human comprehension.
    • He met Ragnelle in a rather backwater inn in Northern Mistral, having enjoyed her show of clearing out a bunch of sexist drunks via clever application of Dust. Seeing talent that could be polished into something more, he approached her with a proposition of teaching her what he knew of Dustcraft. Although it wasn't easy at first, they quickly embarked on an adventure or three. Sadly, Benedict isn't the best of teachers, nonetheless however he showed her a couple of things and had a good time rummaging through ancient sites.
    • Invited to a royal wedding as a Remington, he figured that it's best he's there to rein Elle in, in case the groom of her sister proves less than striking her fancy. We don't want no arson on such an occassion, after all.

8 submissions. 4 reservations. Including myself as playing Wayne, that leaves 3 spots.

Judgments:

  • Tempestas is accepted. "It's nice to see a familiar face in this kingdom."
  • Angela is accepted. "I'm a friend of Elle. Mostly. Does that mean you won't harm me?"
  • Ragnelle is accepted. "This has been an awkward time, hasn't it?"
  • Arrluk is accepted. "Don't make a scene, Faunus."
  • Vladimir is accepted. "Another adventuring noble like Elle. I've heard of your vision. It seems...lacking."
  • Sanfar is accepted. "I've heard of you, Wylde. I hope your presence will be enough to quell any...outspoken troublemakers."
  • Ahyan is accepted. "...so you know Elle?"
  • Benedict is accepted. "I've heard some good things about you, Mister Remington. If Elle's skill is any indication, you've taught her well."

With this many people already, I'll get the RP started up soon. We still have 3 more openings, however, unless reservations are dropped.

And here's the poor man getting hitched.

  • Name: Wayne Eisenmann
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 21
  • Birthday: Crystallum 21
  • Race: Human
  • Kingdom: Mantle
  • Alignment: Technically none
  • Appearance: Wayne stands at an even six feet tall, with black hair and icy blue eyes. He's noticeably muscular, but not overtly so, since he needs a trained body to maneuver well in Iron Thunderbolt. His outfit leans somewhere on the darker side, but not overly formal, with black pants and shirt under a gray hooded longcoat which bears his symbol on its back. He also wears some light gray gloves to both keep warm and protect his hands.
  • Weapons and Equipment: Iron Thunderbolt, a suit of armor that appears like this, the gold replaced by lighter gray and the red replaced with blue. Iron Thunderbolt has engravings all over it through which Wayne channels the power of his invented form of Dust, which he calls Nova Dust. Nova Dust is the first successful synthesis of the four archetypes of Dust (Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Wind), and lasts much longer than other forms of Dust before it. Wayne can invoke any of the four elemental powers of original Dust by interacting with Nova Dust using his Aura, just like how anyone else uses Dust.
  • Semblance: Polarity - Wayne can attract or repel metal in relation to himself. This is mostly used for bringing Iron Thunderbolt to himself from afar, but he can also use it in combat to disarm or force back the majority of his sentient enemies using metallic weaponry. However, it is much more difficult to affect any metal that is being used as a channel for Aura. Aside from putting on and taking off Iron Thunderbolt or moving tools into his hand, Wayne does not get much practice for this Semblance, making it a rough spot in his fighting style.
  • Personality: Wayne is a good man, for sure, but Mantle is not a kingdom for the soft. His experiences have made him standoffish, but reasonably polite. He bears a strong aversion for Faunus because of his father's death and the racist propaganda of his time, but not many other prejudices aside from that. And even then, he has a tenderness in his heart that he doesn't fully realize transcends any hateful barrier in his mind. But he is coldly intelligent, somewhat confident in his skills as a Dust user, and intensely loyal (although still critical for the sake of reassuring himself of character) to those he calls his friends.
  • History: Wayne was born to a mother who died minutes after his birth and a poor father who had to raise him as he worked in the Dust mines in Mantle. The elder Eisenmann was a man with dreams for his son greater than what he had undertaken in life, so he insisted on working for his son's education, stimulating his curiosity with bits of Dust he picked up from the mine. They didn't have much, but father and son were happy. Even when Wayne's father lost his legs in an explosion, he refused to let his son go down into the mines and let him keep studying. Then one day a Faunus broke into their home and struck Wayne, ranting about taking humans' futures from them. The police had come and arrested the Faunus, but not before Wayne's father died protecting his son. From then on, Wayne's grief and anger drove him to study in both Dust and combat. After graduating from Mantle's primary combat school, Wayne went out into the world, working on his research and adventuring to protect those who needed his help. On his last adventure about a month ago, he ended up saving King Galatine's life from Faunus assassins. And now he's getting married to the king's sister, Princess Arturia. It's strange how life goes, but Wayne doesn't mind being attached to royalty, and to a woman who has proven kind and gentle as he had heard. But still, something feels off about his upcoming marriage...

  • Name: Gerhart Von Messer
  • Sex: Man
  • Age: 22
  • Birthday: Umbra 12th
  • Race: Human
  • Kingdom: Vale
  • Alignment: The Order of Siegfried
  • Appearance: Like so (Stands around 6'4"). Gerhart tends to stick to plain white tunics and equally plain black trews when out of armor. May wear a black woolen robe if the weather requires.
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Macht: Gerhart's trusty arming sword. There's nothing special to it, as Gerhart has not earned the right to anything more than simple steel arms.
    • Eisen Gerhart's poleaxe. Though he prefers to fight with a sword and shield, Gerhart is still partial to having a weapon with a bit more reach at his disposal.
    • An unnamed shield (Gerhart doesn't believe that shields are worthy of being named).
    • A suit of steel plate armor, under which Gerhart wears chainmail above a padded gambeson.
    • A dagger that has been within Gerhart's possession since he was a child.
    • Krieger: Gerhart's horse.
  • Semblance: Rechtschaffen: Simply put, Gerhart's semblance shrouds him in an aura of blinding white light. Gerhart can adjust the brightness of this light at will, from a dim glow, to a brightness that rivals that of the sun. The light itself doesn't affect Gerhart outside of a corona of light just outside of his vision.
  • Personality:
    • Gerhart is rather haughty at all times and rarely speaks to those he does not deem worthy of his respect (and generally doesn't speak much). The best way for someone to earn Gerhart's respect is to beat him in a duel, or prove their might and honour in some other way. Though not particularly sexist or racist (in fact quite the opposite, The Order of Siegfried frowns upon such behaviours), Gerhart will refuse to see anyone who isn't a higher ranking member of the Order of Siegfried as superior to him and has difficulty seeing any non-members of the order as equals.
    • Despite his rough exterior, Gerhart takes a lot of pride in being a member of The Order of Siegfried and follows his vows to the letter. They are as follows:
      • Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
      • Be brave and upright that the Gods may love thee.
      • Uphold the Honour of Siegfried, Founder of our Order.
      • Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death.
      • Accept any challenge, no matter the odds.
      • Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong – that is your oath.
  • History:
    • Orphaned at a very early age, Gerhart was chosen by The Order of Siegfried hours within the death of his parents and spent the majority of his first fifteen years within the walls of their Monastery. During these first fifteen years, Gerhart learned of The Order and their ways as well as getting something resembling a basic education (reading, writing, maths and all that jazz).
    • In Gerhart's fifteenth year, he became a squire to one of the Order's many knights so that he would learn the martial aspects of The Order. The Knight in question, Sir Ulric, was a firm follower of the Order's vows, albeit fairly arrogant about his status as a Knight (something that rubbed off on Gerhart early on).
    • Now, shadowing his Knight, Gerhart and Ulric made their to a royal wedding, apparently so that Ulric might meet an old friend of his who would be attending.

Edits pending due to me not being up to date with everything.

  • Name: Nonie Irving
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 23
  • Birthday:Finem 22
  • Race: Faunus-Raven
  • Kingdom: Mistrail
  • Allignment: Freelancer
  • Appearance:Here.
  • Weapons and Equipment: Spadespear. This is mostly a melee weapon but can launch various elemental dust at a range. It also can be used as a shovel and combined with Nonie's semblance can create plants with an elmental charge.
  • Semblance: Viridikinesis, a semblance that controls plant growth. With a small sample of plant material she can create a full grown plant and completely control it's growth, forming it into whatever shape she chooses.
  • Personality: Nonie's somewhat of a bookworm and Unsufferable Genius, extrmely talkative and often too excited to stop talking when told. Because of this Nonie's used to getting in trouble and doesn't mind being punished too much. Nonie's observant to the natural environment but far less so to the people around her.
  • History: Nonie was born to Wisteria Irving and an unknown father, in a small vineyard on the outskirts of Mistrail proper. She has always struggled to both keeping up at her studies and helping her mother maintain the vineyard. This however all changed one year when a Grimm attacked the vineyard, razing the plot to the ground. Though both Wisteria and Nonie survived they were financially devestated. However the pair had one ace up their hole. Due to years of research on aura Nonie was able to discover her semblence. She mainly used it to regrow the grapes. Over time the Faunus pair grew to be relatively wealthy in the Faunus community, allowing her to afford a place in combat school.

  • Name: Kraken Njörör
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 20
  • Birthday: Ventus 28
  • Race: Male
  • Kingdom: Mantle
  • Alignment: None
  • Appearance: Something like this.
  • Weapons and Equipment: Riptide- Kraken's main weapon is his trident, Riptide. While seemingly an awkward weapon of choice, the spear can transform into a crossbow, with the two side prongs becoming the bow and the third, center prong becoming the arrow.

  • Semblance: Flow- Kraken's Semblance allows his to control water and moisture. However, this Semblance requires a great deal of concentration, and has a few limitations. First, he cannot manipulate large sources of water for very long. Second, Kraken cannot manipulate water inside living organisms and things that have no water in them (i.e. Grimm).

  • Personality: Kraken has a very angry personality, and harbors a deep hate for Grimm and evil in general. He feels as though it is his duty to destroy Grimm to prevent what happened to him from happening to anyone else. He is very sarcastic, especially when annoyed. He has trouble containing his anger most of the time, and occasionally explodes whenever he gets angry enough. Kraken also suffers from a case of occasional insomnia from nightmares about his past.
  • History: Kraken Njörör is, and probably always will be, a man of the sea. Since he was a child, he has always enjoyed the fresh, salty air of the open water. For most of his life, Kraken was a fisherman along with his brother and sister. This trio would always bring home the largest net of fish, no matter what the sea was like. This humble fisherman felt like he could take on the world, as long as his family was with him. However, this Kraken is no longer that humble fisherman.

  • Two years ago, after a particularly successful outing, the fishermen were stranded at sea when a storm caused their mast to crack and their sails to fly away in the violent storm. However, this was only the first misfortune to befall them that night. In their haste to repair the mast, some of their catch fell off the ship. From the depths of the pitch-black sea came a large Kraken-like Grimm, eagerly seeking more food. The terrified siblings attempted to frighten the creature away, causing it to attack them. Kraken's brother was impaled by debris and tossed off the ship, while his sister was ripped in half before his very eyes. During the attack, Kraken lost his left eye. Out of pure rage, he attacked the Grimm with a harpoon, causing the beast to sink the ship. When he awoke a few days later, he discover that he was the only know survivor. He has now become a Grimm-hunter for hire, taking bounties just to make a living. However, news of a wedding between Vale royalty and a man from Mantle has peaked his interest.
