It is a fantastic show, but I absolutely hate the mother - Frankie Heck. She is just a horrible person! What mother buys a $3,000 TV just to watch the Royal Wedding? Not just that, but she buys it on a credit card she had her high school son sign up for.

In every episode where she is not involved with anything, it truly seems like the family is happy and having fun. The moment her stupid mouth opens, it goes down hill because she is either screaming about something or just ruining everything by making it about herself.

What kind of mother gets a foreign exchange student because he "cool" neighbor does it and has a great time with it.

She can't even do her freaking job right!! Oh my god, what the heck is with the writers of this show and making her such a crappy person?

That does say something about the use of voice-over narration to attempt to endear the character to us.

The actress found it funny because she had played Debra in Everybody Love Raymond and her character in The Middle wound up a lot like her arch nemesis Marie from that show. And then the actress who played Marie played a teacher in an episode of The Middle and called her out on it.

I enjoy the show quite a bit, but it really needs to end soon (heck, i would have ended it when Sue went to College, as that would have been a decent end point).

I still watch it regularly (I got into it once I started watching Suburgatory, which unfortunately didn't last long) and wow, this season has gotten good.

The story arc with April is just really sucking me in. Axl's final line in the most recent episode has me incredibly stoked for this year's Christmas episode. For a show 8 seasons into it's run, that's not bad.

And of course, I still enjoy seeing the characters. You can tell that the actors have grown into them so much that the performances come really naturally. OK, so the show isn't perfect—-it's tame enough a lot of the time to make it onto Hallmark, and it's got a lot of similarities to Malcolm In the Middle (which I also used to watch quite a bit). But it's still really enjoyable and I'm excited to see what it has coming next.
