I wasn't sure were to say this, and I think I still can't make external links, so I decided a new thread would be serious enough.

Daniel Rabinovich, Plucky Comic Relief of the best musical-comedy act ever, Les Luthiers, passed away this Friday after a heart attack. R.I.P

So, now that I have taken a minute of silence, I now that most of you probably haven't heard of them, since most of their work is in Spanish, but IMHO, it's the most original band of all time this that loses yet another member.

Seriously, if you didn't know them, check them out on Youtube. And if you did, what do you think?

It's a massive tragedy. Both of my parents admired him deeply and they passed it on to my brother and myself. Daniel was always our favourite singer for most of their genres (the exception was classical, where we always loved Marcos), and he was also an unbelievable actor, an extraordinary multi-instrumentalist (guitar, percussion, bass-pipe, alt-pipe, keyboards, bass, trumpet, trombone, recorder, sousaphone, violin, contrachitarrone, etc.).

We always admired great musicians and we always admired great comedians, and he was both. I knew he was very ill for the last few months and somehow I could sense this was gonna happen at some point, but of course I somehow naively expected that awful moment to be postponed indefinitely.

About twelve years ago (and it was in August, mind), I had the honour of seeing Les Luthiers live. They were touring 'Todo Porque RĂas' and at one point during 'Radio Tertulia' Marcos and Daniel were being so funny I couldn't stop laughing. I laughed so loud that for a split second Daniel stared at the audience and made one of his funny faces (as if, to say, 'come on, it's not *that* funny, is it?'). He carried on with the show and did a magnificent job, as usual.

If this hurts so much, I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for his family, his friends and for the surviving members of the group (including Ernesto, even if he's not there anymore, but they were really good friends and worked very well together, regardless of whichever conflict arose afterwards, but that doesn't matter now).

He made the world laugh for nearly fifty years, and now he's making the world cry.

It's nice to see someone on the Internet spread love, instead of hate (you seem to know more about Ernesto's role than me, but I know he is brilliant). I envy you, though, for seeing them live. What do you think of the remaining members' future?

In fact, this may be the end of musical comedy and group comedy in general. The future for instrument innovation doesn't look good either. And it's interesting what you say about your parents, because the only all-ages entertainment we seem to have left is an in-declive Disney.

IMHO, possibly the best thing that Argentina has contributed to the world.

Love, not hate? Who the fuck could hate Les Luthiers?

I will punch them in the face

With my fists.

Repeatedly.
