Umaru and pals are quite charming indeed.
I like the scene transitions. Those running guys make me chuckle sometimes.
@Latest episode: Seeing Ryu working in an arcade was funny. As were his attempts to hinder UMR, the Ultimate Arcade Gamer. And Slyphnford's such an earnest competitor.
Two words: Otaku pandering.
One more word: Dropped.
You claim that God is opressing us, but I see you opressing others without needing a God.What, exactly, about this series is otaku-pandering? What do you even mean by it? There are other series that are more open about otakuish, for better or worse.
Side note: the anime has voices that are very different from what I expected from the characters.
Pfft, ignore the haters
It was interesting to see a day out of taihei life. Man, his life would be dull without Umaru.
I've found that, if anything, the anime made Umaru bearable. Her manga version really got bratty at times.
Bratty Umaru is the best tho.
I think I started to get interested in Umaru because of UMR. It adds a new dimension to the premise.
I think I said something like this on the season thread: the characters are likeable and not as annoying as you'd imagine of their usual cliches, because there is an aura of honesty and self awareness in pretty much everyone.
Sylphin is best girl btw. You'd think she'd be unbearable as the bratty and obnoxious I R BETAR THAN U oujou, but she is so freaking funny and, oh joy, actually competitive in a way that doesn't make me want to shove her into a blender.
Also, that poor backdrop.

OH GOD WHY AM I A CAR!? - ForzareSylphin works because there's nothing mean spirited about her. She just honestly enjoys competing with Umaru and doesn't feel the slightest bit of resentment towards her.
I think that makes her boring though.
Umaru is the most fleshed-out character. The only problem is how perfect she manages to be with no effort whatsoever.
But since this anime basically treats her as a shape-shifting were-imouto-hamster, that's overthinking it.
I mean I am enjoying this show. I'm even having trouble getting that hamster swarm OP out of my head.

"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."After like episode 2 and like...Chapter 20 or so in the manga, Umaru's worst trait about her (the temper tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants) stops. I think the beginning episodes were just there to establish Umaru at her worst.
Umaru is a Parody Sue, plain and simple.
From Chapter 115 in the manga.
Good episode, shows that Umaru might be very needy but Takei really needs her in his life. And Umaru really loves her brother.
Oh and Kirie gets some development as well, becoming a bit more social.
that fish gift tho
She's so awkward it's cute
also lol at Ebina being Taihei's waifu in the Life game
There's not a lot of siscon jokes. But it's sweet that both siblings really do love each other.
Anyone seen the Himouto! Umaru-chanS Specials. More fun with chibi versions of everyone.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellYeah I've seen it. It's so delightfully absurd. I especially liked when they had to train to move in the chibi forms on the account of the giant heads.
That was my favourite part as well. Would that count as a deconstruction of chibis?
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellOh hey, so Bomber is Kirie's brother. What an interconnected bunch.
Manager time next week.
I forgot that it wasn't mentioned yet. Yeah, Bomber is Kries brother, all of Umaru friends have older brothers that Taihei knows independently.
The bar scene was funny, especially with the interruptions.
At the beginning of the Sylphie segment it looked like they were about to kiss.
That segment was especially funny for me after reading Dagashi Kashi, a manga dedicate to that type of stores. Also, even though I never visited one it made me feel nostalgic.
Speaking of nostalgia, Taihei segment managed to capture that feeling you get while wandering in places you didn't visit since you were a child. Also, it might been the first glimpse into the shows murky back story.
Bomber and Umaru are fun to party with.
Come on Taihei, just ask her out.
Say what you will about Umaru, but she always seem so happy when Taihei spends time with her. Also, Kotatsu work by means of magic, I'm sure of it.
Those two know how to party. By why did Umaru, who frequently pulls all nighters fallen asleep?
Kanau is so cute, Taihei should ask her out.
Surprised we don't have a thread this yet. I love this show, for me it's the comedy of the season. The sheer contrast between how perfect Umaru is, and how she let's herself go at home never fails to brings a smile on my face. Also, this show is just a wellspring of funny faces.
