It's quite incredible that one of Jump's current top 3 or 4 series has a thread barely bigger than Hungry Marie's, which just started. ô.Ô

I'm wondering if I shouldn't give this series a second chance, but something in the artstyle just puts me off… But I'll try.

Its humorous but its makes sense. Its a very decent series at best but cliché as all hell. Like I'm up to date on the chapters & Asta the main character is my least favorite character for being such a huge typical moron. There are some interesting plot details & cool characters but the execution is pretty mundane.

The arts pretty good though admitably some characters look weird especially Asta when he does a funny face which he does a lot cause nearly everything amazes him.

Like uh its entertaining at the very least but do not go in with high expectations even after a hundred chapters. Keep it all very medium & neutral.

Okay, I have to say, that chapter was actually hilarious ._.

"I'm not supposed to be that kind of character." :| - That was without doubt the funniest line in the whole series.

Been giving this a look. Just binged all the way up to the latest chapter.

I think the part that I appreciate most is that while Yuno looks like a Sasuke type character, his legitimate respect for Asta makes him 20 times better as a character.

As for Asta, he hits nearly all the Stock Shonnen hero points, but there's something about him that doesn't make me want to see his skull get broken yet. I can't really explain it.

Yuno would like everyone to know that he's not that kind of character. Please stop harassing Yuno.

He's a smart man. Everyone knows these kind of things always go badly.

And Asta is faithful, I'll say that much.

Now, I'm sure the plot will have one or both of them get in trouble anyway, because lol! hot springs bullshit, but still.

Yuno is a serious character. He shouldn't be a part of the shenanigans.

I wonder if the author deliberately made Asta obsessed with a girl we never see and who's totally unimportant to annoy the shippers.

I'm pretty sure the arc just... ended.

There's nothing wrong with annoying shippers.

And yeah, you're right. Characters like Yuno are usually far away from this kind of silliness.

The manga is in a tournament arc now. Gimp Grimmjow looks like an interesting character.

What is the purpose of the tournament & how did we get here?

I feel like I'm missing context or something cause everything just happened suddenly to me so I'm like lost.

The actual king is sponsoring this tournament to draw attention to himself as he's tired of the Wizard King (who's basically just the head of the army) getting all the spotlight.

The king is hilarious. He is such a goober.

Ever since the arc with the Witch Queen i've been enjoying this more. Seems comedy is more the authors forte. Also helped the Witch Queen made Asta her bitch and no amount of his determination stopped her from making him a puppet and it was her daughter that kicked her ass through humiliation.

Also I actually would like to know what goes on in Yuno's head because his comments about not being that kind of character makes me thinks he's trying to act how he thinks a cool, stoic badass is supposed to be.

I mean, I shouldn't be surprised, but I never heard about it.

Is the manga far along enough for them to avoid Overtook the Manga or a Gecko Ending?

Studio Pierrot is handling the anime so they'll prolly turn it into a longrunner with constant filler to pad things out like with Naruto & Bleach.

Though hey the animation looks pretty good in that trailer.

Bolt is surprisingly good. For now anyways.

The problem will probably be Asta to be honest.

Too stereotypical?

Too dumb to even be a shonen protagonist. Like that chicken from the recent Disney movie Moana. Literally Too Dumb to Live or die.
